The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-3 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield’s Brycen Mautz, pitched a no-hitter through 5 2/3 innings and finished six scoreless innings with two hits, nine strikeouts and one walk. Other standouts include Gavin Collins, Deniel Ortiz and Leonel Sequera.

The Triple-A Redbirds were stomped by the Stripers in an 11-6 road loss on Wednesday. In his AAA debut, starter Tekoah Roby pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up six runs on 10 hits, fanned five and walked one.
Roddery Muñoz relieved Roby and surrendered three runs in 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Oddanier Mosqueda hurled a scoreless seventh. Ryan Fernandez allowed two runs in the ninth.
Gwinnett took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. They added one run in the second and two in the third to lead 4-0.
Memphis fought back in the top of the fifth with six runs to briefly lead 6-4. Michael Siani singled. Nathan Church and Thomas Saggese walked. Jimmy Crooks walked and Siani scored. Luken Baker walked and Church came home. Saggese scored on a wild pitch. César Prieto walked. Gavin Collins cleared the bases with a double.

The Stripers immediately answered with two runs in the home fifth to tie the game. They recaptured the lead with a three-run sixth inning and added two runs in the eighth.
Memphis scored six runs on eight hits. Collins was 2-for-5 with three RBI. Church was 2-for-4. Saggese was 2-for-3.
Saggese stole his fifth base of the season. Church swiped his third bag.
Memphis is 35-28 on the season and is tied for second place with Indianapolis in the International League West, 2.5 games back of Nashville.
Thursday’s game: at Gwinnett, Quinn Mathews LHP (1-2) 4.50 vs. Zach R. Thompson RHP (1-2, 3.00) 6:05 CT.
The Double-A Cardinals shut out the Drillers by a 3-0 score at Hammons Field on Wednesday.
Starter Brycen Mautz pitched six scoreless innings, allowed two hits, fanned nine and walked one to earn his first win in 2025. The lefty lost his no-hit bid with two out in the sixth.

Ricardo Velez relieved Mautz and threw two scoreless innings. Luis Gastelum tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his second save.
The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. JJ Wetherholt singled. Leonardo Bernal followed with a two-run home run.

Springfield added a third run in the fourth. Joshua Baez and Jeremy Rivas walked. Trey Paige plated Baez on a single.
The Cardinals scored three runs on seven hits. Paige was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Wetherholt 2-for-3. Bernal had two RBI.
Wetherholt stole his eighth base of the season. Baez swiped his fourth bag for Springfield.
Springfield is 34-25 on the season and is in first place by three games in the Texas League North.

In Cedar Rapids, the High-A Chiefs were blanked by the Kernels by a 6-0 score on Wednesday. Starter Gerardo Salas pitched 4 1/3 innings, gave up four runs on eight hits, fanned five and walked one. Salas took the loss.
Benjamin Arias relieved Salas and surrendered two runs in 1 2/3 innings. Tanner Jacobson threw the final two scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
Cedar Rapids took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. In the fifth, the Kernels scored three runs and added two in the seventh to bring the final score to 6-0.
The Peoria offense scattered four hits. Jon Jon Gazdar was 2-for-3 plus a walk. Brayden Jobert’s double was Peoria’s only extra base hit. The offense was 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.
Won-Bin Cho stole his seventh base of the season. Gazdar was picked off and caught stealing.
On defense, Ian Petrutz had an outfield assist at second base.
Peoria is 24-34 on the season and is in fifth place in the Midwest League West, 10 games back of Quad Cities.

Palm Beach 7, Lakeland 6 (10 innings)
The Class-A Cardinals edged the Flying Tigers in a walkoff extra inning win on Wednesday.
Starter Leonel Sequera pitched six innings, gave up one run two hits, fanned 10 and walked one.
Angel Cuenca relieved Sequera and had a rough night, surrendering five runs in just 2/3 of an inning. Jack Findlay threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Randel Clemente tossed a scoreless 10th to earn the win.
The Beach Birds took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Cade McGee reached second base on an error and scored on a single by Deniel Ortiz. Luis Pino doubled. Johnfrank Salazar plated Ortiz on a single.
Lakeland scored a run in the top of the third before Palm Beach made it 3-1 in the home half on a solo home run by Ortiz.

The Cardinals added a run in the fourth. Jose Suarez reached second base on an error. Sammy Hernandez singled. Anyelo Encarnacion walked. Suarez scored on a sac fly by Cade McGee.
In the fifth, another run came home to give the Cardinals a 5-1 lead. Pino singled and advanced to second on a ground out by Salazar. Yordalin Pena walked. Pino stole third base and then stole home.
The Flying Tigers rallied for five runs in the seventh inning to take a one-run lead. Palm Beach came back to tie the game in the ninth. McGee walked and came home on a double by Ortiz.
In the 10th, the Cardinals won on a walk off. Salazar started the inning on second. Suarez reached on a fielder’s choice that sent Salazar to third. Hernandez drove in Salazar on a single.
The offense scored seven runs on 11 hits. Ortiz was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Hernandez was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Pino was 3-for-4. McGee scored two runs.
Pino stole two bases. Pena swiped his 10th bag. Raniel Rodriguez was caught stealing.
On defense, Ortiz and Pena made fielding errors. Sequera picked a runner off first base.
Palm Beach is 28-30 on the season and is in second place in the FSL East, four games back of St. Lucie.
Thursday’s game: vs. Lakeland, LH Braden Davis (1-1, 3.33) vs. TBD 5:30 CT.
FCL Cardinals 4, FCL Astros 9 (completion of May 28 suspended game)
The rookie level Cardinals fell to the Astros by a 9-4 score on Wednesday. Starter Andrew Bolivar pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up five runs, four earned, on six hits, fanned eight and walked six. Bolivar took the loss.
Alan Reyes relieved Bolivar and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Picking up the action on Wednesday, Bernard Mack surrendered four runs in 2/3 of an inning. Giovanni Vargas tossed the final 2 1/3 scoreless innings.
The Astros went up 1-0 in the top of the first inning. The Cardinals answered with two runs in the home first. Raniel Rodriguez and Bracewell Taveras singled. Andru Arthur doubled to plate Rodriguez and Taveras.
The Cardinals added a run in the third to lead 3-1. Yairo Padilla and Yoerny Junco walked. Padilla stole third base. Taveras singled and Padilla scored.
The Astros put up four runs in the fifth and four more in the seventh to increase their lead to 9-3.
The Cardinals scored a fourth and final run in the ninth on a solo home run by Chris Lopez.
The Cardinals scored four runs on seven hits. Taveras was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Lopez was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Arthur had two RBI.
Padilla stole two bases and was also caught stealing. On defense, Arthur and Daniel Rojas made fielding errors. Facundo Velasquez had an outfield assist at home plate.
The Cardinals are 11-12 on the season and are in third place in the Florida Complex League East, 3.5 games back of the FCL Astros.
