The St. Louis Cardinals system was 4-1 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield RF Joshua Baez, hit two home runs, drew two walks, plated three, stole a base and scored three runs. Other standouts include Jimmy Crooks, Hancel Rincon and Miguel Villarroel.

The Triple-A Redbirds topped the Stripers (Atl) in a 4-2 road victory on Tuesday. Starter Alex Cornwell pitched six innings, and gave up two runs, one earned, on three hits, struck out three and walked two to earn his second win.
Gordon Graceffo threw two scoreless innings of relief. Andre Granillo tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his first save.
Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Nathan Church and Thomas Saggese singled. Jimmy Crooks advanced the runners on a ground out. Church scored on a sac fly by Luken Baker.
Gwinnett answered with two runs in the home first.
The Redbirds scored three in the third to retake the lead 4-2. Church walked. Saggese singled. Jimmy Crooks followed with a three-run home run to center field.

The Redbirds offense scored four runs on nine hits. Crooks was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Church was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Saggese was 2-for-4.
On the bases, César Prieto stole his seventh base of the season. Church and José Fermín were both picked off and caught stealing.
On defense, Crooks had a passed ball.
Memphis is 35-27 on the season and is tied for second place with Indianapolis in the International League West, 2.5 games back of leader Nashville.
Wednesday’s game: at Gwinnett, Tekoah Roby RHP (0-0, 0.00) vs. Ian Anderson RHP (1-2, 4.50) 11:05 am CT.
The Double-A Cardinals defeated the Drillers by the score of 8-3 at Hammons Field on Tuesday.
Starter Hancel Rincon pitched five innings, gave up one run on five hits, fanned eight and walked two to win in his Springfield debut.

Andrew Marrero relieved Rincon and surrendered two runs in 2/3 of an inning. Zane Mills threw two scoreless frames. Austin Love tossed the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
Springfield took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Noah Mendlinger walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch, then stole third base. Chase Davis hit a two-run home run. Joshua Baez followed with a solo long ball.

The Cardinals added three runs in the fourth to lead 6-0. Baez walked, advanced to second on a passed ball and stole third base. Jeremy Rivas walked. R.J. Yeager hit a ground-rule double to score Baez. Ramon Mendoza plated Rivas and Yeager on a single.
Tulsa scored their first run in the top of the fifth.
Springfield answered with two runs in the home half of the inning to increase the lead to 8-1. Leonardo Bernal reached second base on a fielding error. Baez followed with a two-run home run.

The Drillers put up two runs in the sixth but could not overcome the large Cardinals lead.
Springfield scored eight runs on six hits. Baez was 2-for-2 with three RBI and three runs scored. Davis and Mendoza each had two RBI.
Mendlinger stole his sixth base of the season. Baez swiped his third bag. Rivas was caught stealing.
Bernal had a passed ball and was charged with catcher interference.
Springfield is 33-25 on the season and is in first place in the Texas League North.

Peoria 6 at Cedar Rapids 7 (10 innings)
The High-A Chiefs fell to the Kernels in a one-run extra inning road loss on Tuesday.
Starter Darlin Saladin pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up one unearned run on one hit, struck out three and walked two.
All four Peoria relievers were scored upon. Dionys Rodriguez followed Saladin and surrendered two runs in 1 1/3 innings. Tyler Bradt yielded two runs in the seventh. Zack Showalter allowed one run in the eighth and was tagged with a blown save. Angel Gonzalez gave up one unearned run in the final 1 2/3 innings and took the loss.
Peoria went up 3-0 in the top of the second inning. Josh Kross tripled and scored on a double by Chase Adkison. Miguel Villarroel singled to plate Adkison. Tre Richardson drove in Villarroel on a single.
Cedar Rapids answered with one run in the home second.
The Chiefs increased the lead to 4-1 in the top of the sixth. Zach Levenson walked. Villarroel singled. Richardson reached on an error as Levenson scored.
The Kernels put up two runs in the home sixth to shrink the lead to 4-3.
In the top of the seventh, Peoria widened the lead to 6-3. Ian Petrutz singled. Kross grounded into a force out as Petrutz was out at second. Adkison singled. Villarroel plated Kross on a single. Ryan Campos reached on an error and Adkison came home.

Cedar Rapids shrunk the lead to 6-5 with a two-run bottom of the seventh. They tied the game in the eighth and scored the walk off run in the 10th.
Peoria scored six runs on 12 hits. Villarroel was 3-for-5 with two RBI. Adkison was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Richardson was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Jon Jon Gazdar stole his 13th base of the season. He was also caught stealing. On defense, Levenson and Campos each made throwing errors.
Peoria is 24-33 on the season and is in fifth place in the Midwest League West, nine games back of Quad Cities.
Wednesday’s game: at Cedar Rapids, Gerardo Salas RHP (2-4, 8.59) vs. Ty Langenberg RHP (0-3, 7.79)
The Class-A Cardinals blanked the Flying Tigers by a 3-0 score on Tuesday at Roger Dean Stadium.
Starter Brandt Thompson pitched four scoreless innings, allowed one hit and fanned six.
Unlike the Peoria pen, Palm Beach’s was exceptional. Yordy Herrera threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings, Ernie Day hurled 1 1/3 scoreless innings and Christian Worley tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his first save.
The Beach Birds went up 1-0 in the fourth inning. Yordalin Pena doubled and scored on a single by Jose Suarez.
Palm Beach added a run in the sixth. Deniel Ortiz singled and stole second base. Pena reached on an error and Ortiz scored. The Cardinals made it 3-0 in the eighth on a solo home run by Ortiz.

The Cardinals scored three runs on six hits. Ortiz was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Romtres Cabrera stole his third base of the season. Suarez swiped his fifth bag. Ortiz stole his 13th base.
Shortstop Anyelo Encarnacion committed a fielding error.
Palm Beach is 27-30 on the season and is in second place in the FSL East, four games behind St. Lucie.

FCL Cardinals at FCL Mets (suspended)
The Cardinals’ Tuesday Florida Complex League game at Port St. Lucie was suspended in the fourth inning due to inclement weather. The contest, with the Mets up 1-0, will be completed on Friday, June 13 as the opener of a twin bill.
The Cardinals are 11-10 on the season and are in third place in the Florida Complex League East, two games back of the FCL Astros.
Wednesday’s game: vs. FCL Astros (make up of May 28 suspended game); LH Bernard Mack (0-1, 5.40) vs. TBD 12:00 CT.
DSL Cardinals 6, DSL NYY Bombers 1 (seven innings)
The academy Cardinals defeated the NYY Bombers by a 6-1 score on Tuesday. Starter Gabriel Chinchilla pitched four innings, gave up one run four hits and fanned five.
Juan Garcia relieved Chinchilla and threw three scoreless innings to earn the win.
The Bombers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. The Cardinals tied the game in the home half of the inning. Jesus Perez doubled and scored on a single by Miguel Hernandez.
The Cardinals added one run in the fourth to lead 2-1. Cristofer Lebron singled, stole second base, and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Yeferson Portolatin reached on a fielder’s choice and Lebron scored.
The Cardinals scored four runs in the fifth to lead 6-1. Perez reached on a dropped third strike, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Kenly Hunter plated Perez on a triple. Hernandez walked. Juan Rujano drove in Hunter on a single. Edward Guribe was hit by a pitch. Lebron walked and Hernandez scored. Rujano came home on a wild pitch.
The Cardinals scored six runs on six hits. Hunter was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Perez scored two runs.
On the bases, Hunter stole his fifth base of the season. Lebron swiped his first bag. Portolatin stole his third base. Perez stole his second base.
The DSL Cardinals are 5-2 on the season.
