The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 4-1 on Sunday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield outfielder Miguel Ugueto, blasted a walk-off three-run home run in a three-hit performance. Other standouts include Ramon Mendoza, Luis Gastelum, Braden Davis, Miguel Ugueto, Jesús Báez, Ryan Mitchell, Jonathan Mejía, and Facundo Velásquez.

Memphis Redbirds 6 at Omaha Storm Chasers 5
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds edged the Storm Chasers in Omaha in Sunday’s series finale.
Scott Blewett started his second game in his 21st appearance as the opener for the Redbirds in a bullpen game. The right-hander pitched two innings and allowed two runs on four hits, one walk, and two strikeouts.
Matt Svanson threw two scoreless perfect with four strikeouts in relief of Blewett. Max Rajcic yielded a run in an inning of work. Chris Roycroft gave up two runs over two innings. Luis Gastelum fired a shutout eighth and ninth inning to pick up his sixth win of the season.
Omaha struck first with a run in the home first. Memphis tied the game with a run in the top of the second inning. Bligh Madris, Ramon Mendoza, and Colton Ledbetter hit three consecutive singles to load the bags with one out. Madris scored on a Brody Moore sacrifice fly to give the Redbirds a 1-0 lead.
The Storm Chasers grabbed a 2-1 lead with a run in the home half of the second. Memphis knotted the game at two in the fourth.
Blaze Jordan and Madris began the frame on back-to-back singles. Jordan moved to third base on a Mendoza flyout. Ledbetter lined a single to plate Jordan and tie the game at two.

Omaha took their third one-run lead of the game with a run in the fifth. Memphis tied the game with a run in the sixth.
With two outs, Madris walked and swiped second base. Mendoza connected for a single to bring Madris home and knot the game up at three.

Omaha jumped in front 5-3 with a two-run seventh inning. Memphis responded with a pair of runs in the eighth to tie the game once more.

Mendoza took second base on a throwing error on a pickoff attempt and advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Moore hit a single to score Mendoza and tie the game at five apiece.

The Redbirds took a late lead with a run in the top of the ninth. César Prieto launched his eighth home run of the season, a solo shot, to put the Redbirds in front 6-5.

Gastelum slammed the door in the ninth to seal the win.
The Redbirds scored six runs on 14 hits. Mendoza was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Ledbetter was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Moore singled and drove in two runs. Prieto hit a go-ahead solo home run. Madris was a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored.
On the bases, Ledbetter stole his ninth bag of the season. Madris swiped his third base of the year and was caught stealing home. Koperniak was caught stealing second base. Joshua Báez was picked off first base.
On defense, catcher Andy Yerzy made a throwing error.
Memphis is 35-22 after taking five of six from Omaha on the road. They are tied with Nashville for first place in the International League West Division. The Redbirds are off Monday as they head home to AutoZone Park for a six-game set with the Louisville Bats, starting Tuesday.

Springfield Cardinals 4, Wichita WInd Surge 3 (Game one, eight innings)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals walked-off the Wichita Wind Surge in eight innings in game one of Sunday’s doubleheader. This was the conclusion of Saturday’s contest, which was suspended in the seventh inning.
Jurrangelo Cijntje started his 10th game for the Cardinals. The switch-pitcher faced 19 hitters right-handed and one batter left-handed. Cijntje pitched five innings and allowed three runs on three hits, two walks, and six strikeouts.

Austin Love tossed a scoreless sixth inning in relief of Cijntje. Left-hander Jack Findlay threw two shutout innings with four strikeouts to pick up his third win.
Wichita took a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning. Springfield cut the lead in half in the home third.
Travis Honeyman walked and stole second base. Noah Mendlinger hit his 10th double of the season to score Honeyman and put the Cardinals on the board at 2-1.
Springfield grabbed the lead with a two-run fourth frame.
Rainiel Rodriguez began the inning with a double. Ryan Campos lined a second consecutive double to bring Rodriguez home and tie the game at two apiece.

Miguel Ugueto followed with a single to move Campos to third base and put runners at the corners. Campos crossed home plate on a sacrifice fly from Jon Jon Gazdar to put the Cardinals in front 3-2.
The Wind Surge tallied a run in the fifth to knot the game up at three. The game remained tied through the scheduled seven innings, forcing extra innings.
Findlay threw a shutout eighth frame to set the stage for a walk-off win.
Gazdar began the inning at second base. Trey Paige walked. With one out, Miguel Villarroel reached on a fielder’s choice, with Paige to second base, and Gazdar home on the play via a throwing error to win the game for Springfield.

The Cardinals scored four runs on five hits. Mendlinger doubled and drove in a run. Campos doubled, scored a run, and notched an RBI. Gazdar singled, scored a run, and drove in a run. Rodriguez doubled and scored a run. Paige drew three walks.
On the bases, Honeyman stole three bags to increase his season total to 19. Ugueto was picked off first base.
On defense, catcher Rodriguez made a throwing error. The Cardinals turned two doubles plays.
Springfield Cardinals 6, Wichita Wind Surge 5 (Game two)
The Springfield Cardinals scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk-off their second contest of the day and win their fifth straight game.
Braden Davis started his 10th game for Springfield. The left-hander fired 5 ⅓ scoreless innings on three hits, one walk, and nine strikeouts.

Randel Clemente struck out two and finished the sixth inning in relief of Davis. Lefty Michael Watson surrendered two runs and recorded two outs in the seventh, taking a blown save. D.J. Carpenter yielded three runs, two earned, and secured three outs. Hunter Hayes threw the final 1 ⅓ innings without allowing a run and collected his fourth win.
The Cardinals broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth inning. Miguel Ugueto hit a double and scored on a Ryan Campos single to put the Cardinals ahead 1-0.

Wichita plated two runs in the seventh and three runs in the eighth to jump in front 5-1. Down to their final three outs, the Cardinals looked to stage a comeback.
Travis Honeyman hit a lead-off single. With one out, Dakota Harris lined a single to move Honeyman to third base and put runners on the corners. Noah Mendlinger followed with a single to bring Honeyman home for a 5-2 contest. Lars Nootbaar blooped a single to load the bases. Rainiel Rodriguez brought Harris home on a sacrifice fly to bring the Cardinals within two, with Mendlinger to third base on the play. Ugueto blasted a walk-off three-run home run, his fourth long ball of the year, to walk-off both games of the doubleheader and a 6-5 Cardinals win.

The Cardinals scored six runs on 12 hits. Ugueto was 3-for-5, including a double, a home run, three runs scored, and three RBI. Mendlinger went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI. Campos walked, singled, and drove in a run. Rodriguez recorded an RBI. Harris was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Nootbaar drew two walks, singled, and scored a run as he works to rejoin the major league club.
On the bases, Harris swiped his 11th bag of the season. Ugueto stole his 19th base.
On defense, third baseman Harris committed a fielding error. Pitcher Hayes picked a runner off first base.
Springfield is 23-27 on the season after winning all five games against Wichita. They reside in third place in the Texas League North Division. The Cardinals are off Monday as they travel to Riders Field in Frisco, Texas, for a six-game series with the Frisco RoughRiders, starting Tuesday.

Peoria Chiefs 3 at Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 5
The High-A Peoria Chiefs dropped a close contest to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in Sunday’s road series finale.
Blake Aita made his 10th start for Peoria. The right-hander threw four innings and allowed two runs on four hits, one walk, and five strikeouts.
Rubén Menes surrendered three runs across three innings in relief of Aita, taking the loss. Patrick Galle tossed a shutout eighth frame.
The Chiefs struck first with a two-run top of the second inning.
José Suárez and Cade McGee opened the frame on back-to-back singles. Won-Bin Cho grounded into a forceout, with McGee out at second base, Suárez to third base, and Cho to first base. Cameron Nickens ripped a double to score Suárez and Cho and put the Chiefs in front 2-0.

The Timber Rattlers plated two runs in the sixth and a run in the seventh to jump ahead 5-3. The Chiefs were unable to respond.
Peoria scored three runs on 10 hits. Báez was 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, and an RBI. Nickens doubled and drove in two runs. McGee was a perfect 3-for-3. Suárez was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
On the bases, McGee stole two bags for five steals on the year. Suárez swiped two bases to increase his season total to eight. Báez was caught stealing second base.
On defense, center fielder Cho committed a fielding error.
Peoria is 24-27 on the season after taking four of six from Wisconsin. The Chiefs reside in fifth place in the Midwest League West Division. They are off Monday as they head home to Dozer Park for a six-game set with the Beloit Sky Carp, starting Tuesday.

Palm Beach Cardinals 10, Lakeland Flying Tigers 6
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals launched four home runs to defeat the Lakeland Flying Tigers at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Sunday’s series finale.
Yadiel Batista made his first start in his 10th game for Palm Beach. The left-hander threw three innings and allowed three runs on five hits, one walk, and four strikeouts.
Nelfy Ynfante fanned two across three scoreless innings in relief of Batista. Antoni Cuello followed with a shutout frame. Anthony Watts followed and yielded three runs in the eighth frame but collected his first win. Justin Millitello struck out two in a scoreless ninth to finish the game.
Lakeland plated two runs in the top of the first and a run in the third to take a 3-0 lead. Palm Beach moved within one with two runs in the seventh.
Jonathan Mejía drew a lead-off walk. Chase Heath grounded into a forceout, with Mejía out at second base and Heath safe at first base. With two outs, Trevor Haskins lined a single to move Heath to third base and put runners at the corners. Heath scored on a wild pitch to put the Cardinals on the board at 3-1, with Haskins to second base.
