The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-1 on Wednesday. The Springfield game was suspended. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day is Memphis DH Moises Gomez, who was 3-for-5 with two home runs in the Memphis win over Omaha. Other standouts include Jordan Walker and Alex Iadisernia.

The Memphis Redbirds pounded the Omaha Storm Chasers in a five-run victory on Wednesday. Starter Michael McGreevy pitched five innings, gave up four runs, one earned, on seven hits, struck out five and walked one. McGreevy earned his fourth win.
James Naile relieved McGreevy and threw two scoreless innings. Guillermo Zuniga and Jake Walsh each tossed a scoreless inning.
Omaha went ahead 1-0 in the second inning. Memphis scored two in the third on solo home runs by Juniel Querecuto and Masyn Winn.

Kramer Robertson hit a solo home run in the fifth to increase the Redbird lead to 3-1. The Storm Chasers put up three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 4-3 lead.
The lead was short-lived as Memphis continued the long ball party into the sixth with solo home runs by Jordan Walker and Moises Gomez. A third run scored in the inning when Taylor Motter walked, Winn reached on an error and Matt Koperniak singled to score Motter. Winn scored on a wild pitch and the Redbirds led 7-4.

Gomez hit his second home run in the seventh to make it 8-4. A sac fly by Walker plated the ninth and final run in the ninth inning.

Gomez was 3-for-5 with two home runs. Walker was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a long ball. Querecuto was 2-for-5 with a homer.
On the base paths, Motter stole his second base of the season. In the field, Motter made two fielding errors.
Memphis is 28-25 on the season and is in fourth place in the International League West, 3.5 games behind Iowa.

Springfield at Amarillo (suspended in fifth inning)
This game was suspended due to rain. The game will resume on Thursday, June 1 as part of a doubleheader.

The Peoria Chiefs fell to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in a 5-2 contest on Wednesday. Starter Dionys Rodriguez pitched four innings, gave up four runs on five hits, struck out four and walked two. Rodriguez took the loss, his fourth of the season.
Gustavo Rodriguez relieved D. Rodriguez and threw three scoreless innings of relief. Nathanael Heredia surrendered one run in the eighth in his 2023 High-A debut.
Peoria took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run by Osvaldo Tovalin. In the top of the third, Darlin Moquete thumped a solo home run to put the Chiefs in a 2-0 lead.

Wisconsin quickly tied the game with two runs scored in the bottom of the third. The Timber Rattlers added two runs in the fifth and one run in the eighth to win the game 5-2.
Tovalin was 2-for-4 with a home run. No other Chief had multiple hits. The offense was 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.
In the field, Francisco Hernandez made a throwing error.
Peoria is 21-26 on the season and is in fifth place in the Midwest League West, six games back of Cedar Rapids.
Thursday’s game: at Wisconsin, Alex Cornwell LHP (4-2, 3.86) vs. Cameron Wagoner RHP (1-7, 9.00) 6:40 CT.
The Palm Beach Cardinals edged the Daytona Tortugas in a 7-6 contest on Wednesday. Starter Pete Hansen pitched six innings, gave up four runs on 10 hits, and struck out six to earn his third win of the season.
Angel Cuenca relieved Hansen and surrendered two runs in 2/3 innings. Chandler Arnold threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Joseph King tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his second save.
Daytona scored one run in the first inning and one run in the second to take a 2-0 lead. The Beach Birds tied it in the third. Brandon Hernandez doubled and scored on a double by Alex Iadisernia. Iadisernia scored on a single by R.J. Yeager.
In the fourth, the Tortugas made it 3-2. Palm Beach answered with four runs in the home half. Chris Rotondo was hit by a pitch and Joshua Baez doubled. Rotondo scored on an error on a pickoff attempt. Hernandez walked and Iadisernia doubled to plate Baez and Hernandez. Iadisernia scored on a sac fly from Yeager.
Daytona scored one in the top of the sixth. The Cardinals responded with one run in the bottom half. Baez was hit by a pitch and later scored on a ground out. Palm Beach led 7-4.
The Tortugas added two runs in the seventh to make it 7-6.
Iadisernia was 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Hernandez was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Yeager had three RBI.
In the field, Michael Curialle made a throwing error.
Palm Beach is 28-19 on the season and is in first place in the FSL East.
Thursday’s game: vs. Daytona, RHP Hancel Rincón (5-2, 3.15) vs. TBA 5:30 CT.
