The St. Louis Cardinals system went 2-6 on Thursday after two doubleheaders. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, R.J. Yeager, hit two home runs in the Chiefs’ resumption from Wednesday’s game. Other standouts include Michael McGreevy, Irving Lopez, Cade Winquest and Facundo Velasquez.

The Memphis Redbirds (2-7) were walked off by the Indianapolis Indians (PIT, 6-3) at Victory Field on Thursday.
Michael McGreevy surrendered two runs, one earned, on eight hits and two walks. The right-hander fanned two and lowered his ERA to 3.73.
The Redbirds scored their first run in the first inning. Richie Palacios hit a lead-off double and Chase Pinder drove him in with a single. Memphis tied the game after Juniel Querecuto hit a double to plate Taylor Motter.
Out of the bullpen, Chris Roycroft walked two and struck out two in 1 1/3 innings. In the ninth, Kodi Whitley gave up the winning run and took his fifth loss of the year.
Palacios recorded the only multi-hit game with two. Querecuto doubled and Motter tripled. The lineup went 2-for-4 with runners in scoring position.
In the second game of his Memphis rehab, St. Louis’ Tyler O’Neill did not play.
On the bases, Pinder was caught stealing and Palacios was picked off. In the field, Querecuto committed a throwing error.
Friday’s game: at Indianapolis, LHP Andrew Suárez (4-2, 4.38) vs. RHP Jarad Jones (0-1, 5.87) 6:05 CT
The Springfield Cardinals (5-4) topped the Amarillo Sod Poodles (AZ, 5-4) on Thursday at Hammons Field.
Edgar Escobar surrendered three runs, two earned, in six innings. The 26-year-old yielded six hits, three walks and five punchouts.
The Sod Poodles took a 2-0 lead in the third inning. L.J. Jones made it a one-run game after an RBI single in the fourth. Amarillo responded with a run in the sixth inning.
In relief, Bryan Pope earned his first Double-A win after he struck out three in two scoreless frames. Andre Granillo saved his eighth game of the season with one strikeout in a perfect ninth.
Springfield scored four runs in the seventh inning to take a 5-3 lead. Arquímedes Gamboa walked and Irving Lopez blasted a two-run home run to tie the game. Noah Mendlinger recorded an RBI single and one more run came across on an error.

Mendlinger and Lopez both recorded two hits. Nick Dunn walked twice and came across once. Every starter was on base at least once except Jose Alvarez.
On the base paths, Mendlinger and Errol Robinson both took bags. In the field, Lopez committed an error. Robinson threw a runner out at third base from left field.

Peoria 6 at South Bend 7 (10 innings, Game 1)
The Peoria Chiefs (7-4) were walked off by the South Bend Cubs (CHC, 3-8) in the resumption of Wednesday’s game in the ninth inning.
Starter Dionys Rodriguez pitched three innings and gave up four runs on five hits and three walks. The right-hander fanned one. Nathanael Heredia was touched for two runs in two innings of relief. Gustavo Rodriguez tossed two scoreless frames.
The Chiefs put up a run in the first inning after R.J. Yeager blasted a solo home run. The Cubs took the lead in the third but Jeremy Rivas doubled in the fourth to tie the game.

In the home half, South Bend took a two-run lead. Yeager hit a three-run homer in the fifth, his third in High-A. The Cubs took the lead back in the sixth.

Jack Ralston tossed 1 2/3 scoreless frames with four punchouts. The contest was postponed with two outs in the ninth inning and was completed on Thursday. Roy Garcia yielded an unearned run in the 10th inning after a throwing error from Garcia.
Yeager went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI. Rivas recorded the only other multi-hit game with two. The lineup went 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven runners on base.
On the bases, Alex Iadisernia stole a bag and was caught stealing. Garcia committed a throwing error.
Peoria 0 at South Bend 4 (10 innings, Game 2)
The Peoria Chiefs (7-5) were no-hit by the South Bend Cubs (CHC, 4-8) in game two at Four Winds Field.
Max Rajcic surrendered two runs on five hits and two walks in five innings. The right-hander struck out four and took his second High-A loss. In relief, Joseph King was charged with two runs in three innings on three hits, two walks and one strikeout.
R.J. Yeager, Aaron McKeithan and Tyler Reichenborn all walked twice. The Chiefs were no-hit by four Cubs pitchers. The lineup went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
On the base paths, Jeremy Rivas and Yeager both stole bases. Rajcic picked a runner off first.
Friday’s game: at South Bend, RHP Zane Mills (4-2, 6.86) vs. RHP Connor Noland (1-4, 3.19) 6:05 CT
The Palm Beach Cardinals (3-9) were walked off by the Clearwater Threshers (PHI, 8-4) at BayCare Ballpark on Thursday.
Cade Winquest tossed six innings and yielded a run on four hits and two walks. The 23-year-old struck out five.
The Threshers scored one run in the sixth but the Beach Birds tied the game in the seventh. The defense made a fielding error and Leonardo Bernal came across. Clearwater blasted a three-run home run in the ninth inning to win the game.
Out of the bullpen, John Lynch pitched 1 2/3 scoreless frames. Wilmer Ortega surrendered a three-run homer in the ninth and he took his first loss of the year.
Jose Cordoba tripled and singled. Nobody else recorded an extra-base hit. The lineup went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position.
Friday’s game: at Clearwater, RHP Jose Davila (0-1, 5.63) vs. RHP Estibenzon Jimenez (2-4, 3.74) 5:30 CT
FCL Cardinals 3, FCL Astros 9 (8 innings)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals (9-13) lost to the Astros (10-13) in an eight-inning contest at Roger Dean Stadium.
Starter Gerado Salas gave up two runs in 4 2/3 innings on five hits and two walks. The 20-year-old struck out four. Alejandro Cervantes pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings.
After the Astros scored a run in the third, the Cardinals took the lead in the home half. Maikel Hernandez doubled to plate one. Yaisel Ramos walked with the bases loaded to make the score 2-1. The Astros put up seven runs in the seventh inning. In the bottom half, Felix Taveras grounded out to score Raul Guzman.
Out of the bullpen, Bruno Lopez could not record an out after he yielded two runs. Miguel Martinez gave up five runs. Victor Villaneva threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings until the game was called in the top of the eighth inning.
Adari Grant went 2-for-3 with one walk and a run scored. Guzman walked twice and came across twice. The lineup went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
In the field, Grant and Hernandez both committed errors. Salas picked a runner off first base.
Friday’s game: at FCL Marlins, TBA vs. TBA 11:00 CT
DSL Cardinals 1 at DSL Giants Black 7 (7 innings, Game 1)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (6-16) were defeated by the Giants Black (15-6) on Thursday morning in game one of a doubleheader.
Keiverson Ramirez gave up three runs, two earned, on four hits and no walks. The 17-year-old fanned three and took his third loss of the season.
The Giants took the lead in the second inning but the Cardinals responded with one in the third. Daniel Rojas brought across Luis Atocha via single. The Cardinals could not score any more runs in the contest.
In relief, Bernard Mack yielded four runs on three hits, a walk and three punchouts in 1 2/3 innings. Jovi Galvez recorded one out in the sixth inning.
The Cardinals only had three hits in the contest. Atocha and Yordalin Pena both doubled. The lineup went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
Bracewell Taveras was picked off first base. Armani Batista committed a fielding error.
DSL Cardinals 2 at DSL Giants Black 0 (7 innings, Game 2)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (7-16) blanked the Giants Black (15-7) at Academia De Béisbol Felipe Alou in game two of the doubleheader.
Starter Yadiel Batista tossed two scoreless frames with two punchouts. Ronny Oliver earned his first win after 2 2/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
The Cardinals scored both runs in the fourth. Fernando Roquez singled and Facundo Velasquez hit a two-run home run, his third of the season.
Yordy Herrera earned his first save after 2 1/3 perfect innings with four strikeouts.
The lineup recorded five hits and eight walks. Velasquez went 2-for-2 with a home run and two walks. The lineup left 11 runners on base but the pitching struck out nine batters in seven innings.
