The St. Louis Cardinals system went 2-4 on Monday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Ian Bedell, pitched six scoreless innings with eight punchouts in Peoria’s win. Other standouts include Chandler Redmond, Darlin Moquete, Darlin Saladin and Andru Arthur.

The Memphis Redbirds (1-5) fell to the Nashville Sounds (MIL, 5-1) on Monday night at AutoZone Park.
Starter Tommy Parsons pitched five innings and surrendered two runs on seven hits and three walks. The right-hander fanned three and took his fifth loss of the year. Andrew Suárez yielded four runs in two innings with three punchouts.
Memphis struck in the first inning with Matt Koperniak’s solo home run, his fifth at Triple-A. Richie Palacios doubled in the eighth to bring home Kramer Robertson for the Redbirds’ other score.

Ryan Loutos was touched for two runs in 1 2/3 innings on three hits, a walk and three strikeouts. Dalton Roach walked one in 1/3 of an inning.
The lineup recorded six hits, one walk and went 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position. Juniel Querecuto and Palacios doubled.
In the field, Parsons picked a runner off first.
The Redbirds went 1-5 against Nashville this week and are in ninth place in the International League West, five games out of first.

Springfield 6 at Arkansas 8 (10 innings)
Four home runs were not enough as the Springfield Cardinals (2-4) were walked off by the Arkansas Naturals (SEA, 4-2) at Dickey-Stephens Park.
Starter Kenny Hernandez gave up six runs in five innings on nine hits, one walk and five strikeouts.
After the Naturals scored two runs in the first, the Cardinals tied it in the third. Victor Scott II blasted his first Double-A home run, a two-run shot.
Arkansas took a two-run lead but Springfield made it 5-4 in the fifth. Arquímedes Gamboa hit a two-run homer and Wade Stauss launched a solo shot. In the sixth, Chandler Redmond hit his 22nd homer of 2023.
In relief, Bryan Pope walked two and struck out two in 2 1/3 scoreless frames. Chris Roycroft took his third loss after he surrendered two runs, one earned, on a hit and one strikeout.
Despite two runners on in the 10th inning, the Cardinals could not score.
Redmond recorded three hits with an RBI and one run. Gamboa went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Noah Mendlinger and Stauss both collected two hits. The lineup went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
Redmond committed a fielding error. Errol Robinson recorded an outfield assist.
Springfield went 2-4 against the Naturals this week. They are two games out of first place in the Texas League North.

Peoria 3, Cedar Rapids 2 (10 innings)
The Peoria Chiefs (6-3) walked off the Cedar Rapids Kernels (MIN, 5-4) on Monday night at Dozer Park.
Ian Bedell went six scoreless innings and yielded one hit and one walk. TCN’s no. 16 prospect struck out eight. In his first High-A outing this season, Jack Ralston fanned three in one inning of relief.
The Chiefs took the lead in the second inning as Darlin Moquete blasted a solo homer, his fourth for Peoria. Francisco Hernandez drove in a run in the fifth via single. The Kernels tied the game in the ninth.

Out of the bullpen, Gustavo Rodriguez gave up two runs in 1 2/3 innings on three hits, a walk and two punchouts. Roy Garcia earned his fifth High-A win after he struck out three in 1 1/3 innings.
With ghost runner Hernandez on second in the 10th inning, Alex Iadisernia singled to win the game for the Chiefs.

Moquete went 2-for-4 with a walk, one double, a home run and two runs. The lineup went 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
On the bases, Hernandez took his sixth bag of the year.
Peoria is tied with Beloit at the top of the Midwest League West.

The Palm Beach Cardinals (2-7) were defeated by the Jupiter Hammerheads (MIA, 5-3) on Monday at Roger Dean Stadium.
In his Florida State League debut, starter Benjamin Arias pitched credibly. The 21-year-old right-hander gave up three runs, two earned, in 5 2/3 innings on seven hits and two walks. Arias fanned three and took his first loss. In relief, Tanner Jacobson struck out three in 1 1/3 scoreless frames.
The Beach Birds scored their first run in the second inning. Carlos Linarez singled to plate FSL Player of the Week Joshua Baez.
Reliever Luis Gastelum yielded two runs, one earned, in one inning. Wilmer Ortega fanned one in a scoreless frame.
The Cardinals’ lineup recorded seven hits, three walks and went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position. Leonardo Bernal and Adanson Cruz recorded two hits apiece.
On the bases, Lizandro Espinoza stole his 10th bag of the season. Michael Curialle, Brandon Hernandez and Linarez committed errors.
Palm Beach went 2-4 versus the Hammerheads this week. They are five games back of first place Daytona in the Florida State League East.

FCL Cardinals 4, FCL Mets 5 (8 innings)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals (8-10) were edged by the Mets (12-7) in eight innings. The game ended early due to lightning in the area around the Roger Dean Stadium complex.
Starter Darlin Saladin pitched five scoreless innings on three hits, one walk and seven strikeouts. Omar Yanez yielded an unearned run in one inning.
In the fifth, the Cardinals put up three runs. Romtres Cabrera blasted a two-run home run, his first of the season. Luis Rodriguez singled to plate another. Miguel Vargas’ RBI single gave the Cardinals a 4-1 lead in the sixth inning.
The pen let the lead slip away late. Bruno Lopez surrendered two runs in an inning. Randel Clemente took his first loss and blew his second save after he gave up two runs, one earned, in the eighth. Alejandro Cervantes tossed 2/3 of an inning until the game was called due to lightning in the ninth.
The lineup recorded eight hits and four walks but went 3-for-16 with runners in scoring position. Rodriguez had the only multi-hit game with two. Every player was on base at least once except Jose Suarez.
On the bases, Yancel Guerrero and Cabrera each took a bag. In the field, Cabrera, Suarez and Maikel Henandez committed errors. Suarez and Yaisel Ramos had outfield assists.
The Cardinals are in third place and are 3.5 games back of first in the FCL East.

DSL Cardinals 6 at DSL Twins 2
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (5-15) topped the Twins (6-15) on the road on Monday afternoon.
Starter Jefferson Moran yielded a run in four innings. The 19-year-old struck out four. Justin Hernandez gave up one run in the fifth inning.
The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Heriberto Caraballo scored on an error. In the fourth, Andru Arthur singled and Caraballo came across on an error.
Out of the bullpen, Emisael Carrera struck out three in two scoreless innings. Giovanni Vargas fanned four in two scoreless frames.
Extending the Cardinals’ 2-1 lead, Bracewell Taveras blasted a two-run home run in the fifth inning, his third of the year. Hancel Almonte gave the Cardinals a 6-2 lead with a two-run homer, also his third, in the seventh.
The lineup had 12 hits, three walks and left 13 runners on base. Arthur went 3-for-5 and was a home run away from the cycle. Arfeni Batista and Caraballo recorded two hits and two runs apiece. Almonte and Taveras both hit two-run blasts.
On the bases, Daniel Rojas and Arthur took a bag each. In the field, Rojas and Almonte committed errors.
