Cardinals Minor League Notebook – July 30, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-0 on Wednesday. TCN’s Players of the Day are the Palm Beach offense, which scored 19 runs on 29 hits. Yairo Padilla and Jonathan Mejía were both 3-for-6 with four RBI, with big games by Sebastian Dos Santos, Johnfrank Salazar and J.P. Cabrera. Other standouts: Rainiel Rodriguez, Jack Gurevitch and Cameron Nickens.

Memphis at Jacksonville (postponed)

Wednesday’s road game for the Redbirds was postponed due to weather. It will be played as one game of a pair of seven inning games on Thursday.

Memphis is 10-15 in the second half.

Thursday’s game: at Jacksonville, Quinn Mathews LHP (5-3, 3.13) vs. Braxton Garrett LHP (4-3, 2.32) 6:05 CT. (game one); at Jacksonville, Brandt Thompson RHP (0-1, 5.40) vs. Patrick Monteverde LHP (2-2, 6.44) (game two).

Springfield 7, Wichita 4

At Route 66 Stadium, the Double-A Cardinals defeated the Wind Surge by the score of 7-4 on Wednesday.

Starter Blake Aita pitched six innings, gave up four runs on six hits, walked two and fanned eight.

Hunter Hayes relieved Aita and threw two scoreless innings for the win. Randel Clemente tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his fourth save.

Springfield went up 2-0 in the first inning. Rainiel Rodriguez singled. Ryan Campos doubled. Rodriguez was thrown out at third. Deniel Ortiz followed with a two-run home run.

The Cardinals added a run in the third on a solo home run by Rodriguez to increase the lead to 3-0.

Wichita came back with one run in the fourth and three in the fifth to take the lead 4-3.

Springfield put up four runs in the seventh to regain the lead 7-4. Zach Levenson doubled. Jon Jon Gazdar was hit by a pitch. Dakota Harris plated Levenson and Gazdar on a double. Rodriguez hit a two-run home run.

The Cardinals scored seven runs on nine hits. Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Levenson was 2-for-4. Ortiz and Harris each had two RBI.

Riding a six-game winning streak, first place Springfield is 19-10 in the second half.

Thursday’s game: vs. Wichita, Cooper Hjerpe LHP (0-1, 5.56) vs. Chris Vallimont RHP (1-2, 3.90) 7:05 CT.

Peoria 10 at Cedar Rapids 6

Behind five home runs, including two by red-hot Jack Gurevitch, the High-A Chiefs defeated the Kernels by a 10-6 score in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday.

Starter Yhoiker Fajardo pitched three innings, gave up four runs on four hits, walked two and struck out two.

Ruben Menes relieved Fajardo and surrendered one run in 3 1/3 innings for the win. Trey Pooser allowed one run in 1 1/3 innings. Christian Worley tossed the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his second save.

Cedar Rapids took a 2-0 lead in the first and added a run in the second.

Peoria scored one run in the top of the third on a solo home run by Jack Gurevitch to cut the lead to 3-1. The Kernels answered with a run in the fourth to increase the lead to 4-1.

The Chiefs responded with a run in the fifth to shrink the lead to 4-2. Tai Peete singled and scored on a double by Gurevitch.

Peoria added three runs in the sixth to take the lead 5-4. José Suárez hit a solo home run. Michael Dattalo singled. Cameron Nickens followed with a two-run home run.

The Chiefs extended their lead to 7-4 in the top of the seventh. Gurevitch walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Josh Kross blasted a two-run home run.

Cedar Rapids put up a run in the home seventh to decrease the lead to 7-5. In the top of the eighth. Peoria strengthened their lead to 10-5. Nickens doubled and scored on a double by Peete. Gurevitch hit his second long ball, a two-run shot.

The Kernels added one run in the bottom of the eighth to reach the final score of 10-6.

The offense scored 10 runs on 12 hits. Gurevitch was 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored. Nickens was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Peete was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Kross had two RBI. Dattalo was 2-for-3.

Suárez had an outfield assist at third base.

The Chiefs are 15-16 in the second half.

Thursday’s game: at Cedar Rapids, Ty Van Dyke RHP (3-3, 5.88) vs. Adrian Bohorquez RHP (0-0, 7.78) 6:35 CT.

Palm Beach 19 at Fort Myers 5

The High-A Cardinals slaughtered the Mighty Mussels by a 19-5 score in Fort Myers on Wednesday.

Starter Brian Holiday pitched four innings, gave up three runs on four hits and fanned nine. At one point, the right-hander struck out eight consecutive batters.

Peoria rehabber Joseph King relieved Holiday and surrendered one run in 1 2/3 innings. Antoni Cuello threw 1/3 of a scoreless inning. Yadiel Batista hurled a scoreless seventh. Anthony Watts yielded one run in the eighth. Zeke Wood tossed a scoreless ninth.

Fort Myers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Palm Beach came roaring back in the second with eight runs.  Miguel Hernández singled. Jonathan Mejía and J.P. Cabrera singled. Johnfrank Salazar singled to score Hernández. Mejía was thrown out at home. Sebastian Dos Santos drove in Cabrera on a single. Yairo Padilla tripled to clear the bases. Ryan Mitchell walked. Yordalin Peña doubled and Padilla came home. Ryan Weingartner walked. Jonathan Mejía doubled to plate Mitchell, Peña and Weingartner.

The Cardinals made it 9-1 in the top of the fourth. Mitchell singled, stole second base, and scored on a single by Hernández.

The Mighty Mussels put up two runs in the home fourth to cut the lead to 9-3.

Palm Beach answered with a run in the top of the fifth. Salazar singled. Dos Santos walked. Padilla singled to score Salazar.

Fort Myers scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 10-4.

Palm Beach responded with two runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 12-4. Peña doubled and scored on a single by Weingartner. Weingartner came home on a single by Cabrera.

In the top of the eighth, the Cardinals put up two more runs to strengthen the lead to 14-4. Cabrera and Salazar singled. Dos Santos doubled to drive in Cabrera. Salazar came home on a ground out by Padilla.

Fort Myers scored posted their fifth run in the home eighth.

Palm Beach ran up the score with a five run ninth for the final score of 19-5. Peña singled. Hernández doubled. Mejía singled and Peña crossed the plate. Cabrera doubled to score Hernández. Salazar drove in Mejía on a single. Dos Santos plated Cabrera on a single. Mitchell doubled to score Salazar.

The Cardinals scored 19 runs on 29 hits. Padilla and Mejía were both 3-for-6 with four RBI. Dos Santos was 4-for-6 with three RBI. Salazar was 5-for-5 with two RBI and four runs scored. Cabrera was 4-for-6 with two RBI and three runs scored. Mitchell and Hernández were each 3-for-6 with an RBI and two runs scored. Peña was 3-for-7 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Mitchell stole his 31st base. Hernández swiped his first bag for Palm Beach. Salazar was picked off and caught stealing.

The Cardinals are 17-14 in the second half.
