The only scheduled Monday game in the St. Louis Cardinals system resulted in a 1-0 loss in the Dominican Summer League. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, RH Keiverson Ramirez, allowed one run in five innings with six strikeouts. All five clubs’ standings are recapped and the coming week’s series are previewed.

Memphis – off Monday
Triple-A Memphis (11-16) dropped another series last week, winning only one of six games at first-place Columbus (17-9) (CLE). The Redbirds fell from a three-way tie for fourth to sole possession of ninth place in the 10-team West Division of the International League, 6 ½ games behind Columbus.
The Redbirds continue their road trip with a week at East Division opponent Durham (TB).
Tuesday’s game: at Durham (12-15), 6:30 pm ET/5:30 pm CT, TBD
Springfield – off
Double-A Springfield (17-10) claimed four of six home contests versus South Division rival Corpus Christi (HOU) last week. That effort boosted their lead in the North Division of the Texas League from ½ to 2 ½ games over Tulsa (LAD).
The S-Cards have a very important upcoming six-game series as they face the second-place Drillers on the road.
Tuesday’s game: at Tulsa (14-12), 7:00 pm CT, Edwin Nunez (0-6, 7.71)
Peoria – off
High-A Peoria (15-15) split their six-game set at sixth- (and last-) place South Bend (10-20) (CHC) but moved into a third-place tie with Beloit (MIA) in the West Division standings of the Midwest League. Both squads trail first-place Wisconsin (MIL) by 5 ½ games.
Fifth-place Quad Cities (KC) comes to Dozer Field this week, giving the Chiefs an opportunity to put more space between them and the team just below them in the standings.

Palm Beach – off
First-place Palm Beach (19-9) is fresh off a dominating 5-1 series at fourth- (and last-) place St. Lucie (9-21) (NYM). The results boosted their East Division lead in the Low-A Florida State League from ½ to 3 ½ games over Daytona (CIN).
The Beach Birds are back home this week, hosting West Division rival Bradenton (PIT) for six games.
Tuesday’s game: vs Bradenton (11-19), 5:00 pm ET/4:00 pm CT, TBD
DSL Cardinals 0 vs DSL Giants Black 1 (7 innings)
The fifth-place rookie-level DSL Cardinals (19-18) came out on the wrong end of a pitching duel, falling to the first-place Giants Black (29-10), 1-0 in seven innings at home. The Dominican Birds’ four-game winning streak was snapped, leaving them nine games behind the Giants Black in the Central Division standings of the Dominican Summer League.
The outcome handed staff ace Keiverson Ramirez his first defeat in five decisions. Ramirez retired his first seven batters before yielding two third-inning hits. The right-hander worked out of that jam but could not do so in his fifth and final inning on the mound. Ramirez allowed three straight one-out singles to the bottom of his opponent’s batting order, the final hit driving in the game’s sole tally. The veteran struck out six, permitted six hits in all and did not issue a free pass.
Reliever Jesus Garcia retired all six batters faced, fanning two. It was the righty’s second straight scoreless appearance after surrendering runs in his prior three efforts, including a three-inning stint on July 18th in which he gave up three runs to this same Giants Black squad.
The offense matched their opponents’ six hits but were a dismal 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position. This may in part be to the continued absence of second baseman Bracewell Taveras, who missed his third game in a row. That has left the Dominican Cardinals scrambling to replace their clean-up hitter who had a nine-game hitting streak when he exited the game in the latter innings of the July 25th contest.
Catcher Rainiel Rodriguez was the only Cardinal with multiple hits. The All-Star singled and doubled in three at bats, batting third. Rodriguez’ double was the sole hit to go for extra bases.
Tuesday’s game: at eighth-place DSL Mariners (9-29), 11:00 am ET/10:00 am CT, Andrew Bolivar (0-0, 4.44)
