The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 0-1 on Monday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, DSL Cardinals shortstop Miguel Hernandez, was 3-for-4, including a double, a run scored and an RBI. Other standouts include Pedro Olivero, Sebastian Dos Santos and Yaxson Lucena. We also set up this week’s series.

Memphis Redbirds (off-day)
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were off Monday, as they traveled to Harbor Park in Norfolk, Virginia, to begin a six-game series with the Norfolk Tides on Tuesday.
Memphis enters the new week with momentum after taking four of six from Gwinnett at AutoZone Park.
Catcher Jimmy Crooks leads the Redbirds with 11 home runs and 63 RBI. Second baseman Bryan Torres has drawn more walks (53) than strikeouts (40) with a strong .308 batting average. César Prieto leads Memphis with 91 hits; no other Redbird has 80.
On the mound, Curtis Taylor has continued an impressive season in the starting rotation. The right-hander has amassed 83 strikeouts, 91 innings, and a 3.16 ERA, leading the team in all three categories. He is the reigning International League Pitcher of the Week.
Memphis’ Taylor Named International League Pitcher of the Week
Memphis is 53-47 overall, and 12-15 in the second half. They are tied for fourth place in the International League West Division.

Springfield Cardinals (off-day)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were off Monday, as they headed home to Hammons Field for a six-game set with the Arkansas Travelers starting Tuesday.
Springfield will look to get back on track after their three-game series winning streak was snapped with a 4-2 series loss at Tulsa.
Catcher Leonardo Bernal and third baseman Ramon Mendoza have supplied the power and are tied for the team lead in home runs with 11. Bernal leads the team with 50 RBI, with Mendoza a close second with 45. Noah Mendlinger leads players currently on the roster with a .282 batting average and has drawn more walks (39) than strikeouts (31).
On the mound, left-hander Ixan Henderson has proven to be the team’s ace. Henderson has thrown 91 innings with seven wins in 17 starts and holds a tidy 2.37 ERA with 96 strikeouts, leading starters in all categories. His 96 strikeouts are third-best in the Texas League. Recently promoted from Peoria, Cade Winquest will look to build off a scoreless outing in his first Double-A start last Wednesday.
Springfield is 60-36 on the season, and 17-10 in the second half. They lead the Texas League North Division by one game.

Peoria Chiefs (off-day)
The High-A Peoria Chiefs were off Monday, as they traveled to ABC Supply Stadium in Beloit, Wisconsin, for a six-game series with the Beloit Sky Carp starting Tuesday.
The Chiefs will look to rebound after dropping four of six to West Michigan at Dozer Park.
First baseman Brayden Jobert leads Peoria with eight home runs and left fielder Ian Petrutz has driven in the most runs at 41. Catcher Ryan Campos is close behind Petrutz with 38 RBI. Infielder Jon Jon Gazdar has racked up the most hits for the Chiefs at 84, with no other Chief over 65.
On the mound, Braden Davis has turned in two strong starts since his promotion to High-A. The left-hander holds a 1.80 ERA with a 1-0 record in 10 innings. Davis fanned eight hitters in both starts for 16 K’s total. Right-hander Jose Davila leads the team with 80 innings pitched and leads pitchers currently on the roster with 67 strikeouts.
Peoria is 39-56 overall, and 13-17 in the second half. They reside in fifth place in the Midwest League West Division, 4.5 games back of first place.

Palm Beach Cardinals (off-day)
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals were off Monday and will continue their series at Jackie Robinson Ballpark with three more games with the Daytona Tortugas, starting Tuesday.
The Cardinals enter the week with momentum after taking two of the first three games in the series.
Rumored to be packing his bags for Peoria, Deniel Ortiz has been arguably the Beach Birds’ best contributor on offense and the basepaths. The first baseman has slugged a team-best 10 home runs and has stolen 31 bases, 10 more than any other Cardinal. Ortiz also leads players currently on the roster with a .287 batting average. Cade McGee has driven in the most runs for the Cardinals at 50.
On the mound, right-hander Leonel Sequera leads pitchers currently on the team with 77 ⅔ innings pitched and Nolan Sparks has fanned 75 batters, tops among active pitchers.
Palm Beach is 47-46 overall, and 15-13 in the second half. They reside in second place in the Florida State League East Division, 4.5 games back of first place.

The Dominican Summer League Cardinals lost a close home contest to the DSL Angels on Monday.
Juan Garcia started for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched four innings and allowed three runs on five hits, one walk, and no strikeouts.
Ryan Rodriguez yielded three runs, one earned, in one inning in relief of Garcia and took the loss. Beiker Rodriguez followed with a scoreless frame. Pedro Olivero fired three shutout innings with a pair of strikeouts.
The Angels took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
The Cardinals tied the game in the second. Yaxson Lucena tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly from Cristofer Lebron.
The Angels moved ahead 2-1 in the top of the third.
The Cardinals grabbed their first lead of the game in the home third. With two outs, Kenly Hunter lined a double and advanced to third base via a fielding error. Miguel Hernandez followed with an RBI double. Sebastian Dos Santos crushed his third home run of the season, a two-run blast, to put the Cardinals in front 4-2.
The Angels moved within one in the top of the fourth.
The Cardinals regained their two-run lead in the home half. Lucena doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch. One batter later, Lucena crossed home plate on a second wild pitch for a 5-3 Cardinals advantage.
The Angels scored one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to jump ahead 6-5. The Cardinals left the tying and winning runs on base in the bottom of the ninth in the close loss.
The DSL Cardinals scored five runs on eight hits. Hernandez was 3-for-4, including a double, a run scored and an RBI. Dos Santos clubbed a home run for two RBI. Hunter walked, doubled and scored a run. Lucena was 2-for-4, including a double, a triple and two runs scored.
On the bases, Hunter was caught stealing second. Hernandez was picked off second.
On defense, third baseman Edward Guribe and shortstop Hernandez each committed a fielding error. Pitcher Ryan Rodriguez made a throwing error. Lucena nailed a runner at second base from right field.
The DSL Cardinals are 20-20 on the season and reside in third place in the DSL Southeast Division, four games back of first place. They will visit the DSL Blue Jays Blue on Tuesday.
