The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 1-1 on Monday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, DSL Cardinals RHP Juan García, pitched five innings of one-run ball on just one hit. Other standouts: Christopher Vargas, Roberth Castillo, Michael Cordero and Rayner Reyes.

Memphis Redbirds (off day)
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were off Monday, as they traveled to Vystar Ballpark in Jacksonville, Florida, for a six-game series with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, starting Tuesday.
The Redbirds enter the week following a series split with the Durham Bulls.
Outfielder Joshua Báez has swung the bat better than in recent weeks. The 22-year-old leads the International League in home runs (31) and RBI (77) while tied with Colton Ledbetter for the most steals on the Redbirds (15). Báez also leads the team in hits at 88. Catcher Leo Bernal has put together a solid season, hitting .278 with 13 home runs and 61 RBI among 81 hits.
On the mound, Quinn Mathews has totaled the most strikeouts at 111 across 92 innings with a strong 3.13 ERA to anchor the Memphis rotation.
Memphis is 11-16 in the second half and 58-44 overall. They reside in eighth place in the International League West Division.
Tuesday’s game: at Jacksonville (MIA). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM CT.
Springfield Cardinals (off day)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were off Monday, as they headed home to Route 66 Stadium for a six-game series with the Wichita Wind Surge, starting Tuesday.
The Cardinals enter the week with momentum after winning four of six on the road over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
Ryan Campos has provided a strong bat, holding the team lead in RBI (49) and he is second in home runs (10). Campos’s 15 doubles are second-best on the team.
Jesús Báez has swung a hot bat in Double-A, hitting .281 with 11 home runs to lead the team in long balls and 26 RBI in 24 games. Zach Levenson also enters the week scorching hot after a three-home run, six-RBI game on Sunday. Levenson has hit nine home runs with 32 RBI this season.
On the mound, Braden Davis and Chen-Wei Lin have each tallied over 80 strikeouts, the only two pitchers at that mark currently on the roster. Davis leads pitchers currently on the roster with 94, while Lin has 89. Newcomer Blake Aita has pitched to a solid 3.06 ERA across his first 17 ⅔ innings with Springfield in three games (two starts).
Springfield is 117-10 in the second half and 48-47 overall. The Cardinals hold a two-game lead in the Texas League North Division.

Peoria Chiefs (off day)
The High-A Peoria Chiefs were off Monday, as they travel to Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for a six-game set with the Cedar Rapids Kernels, starting Tuesday.
Peoria enters the week after winning four of six over West Michigan at Dozer Park.
On offense, Jalin Flores leads the Chiefs with 62 RBI and has hit 12 home runs. Flores also holds the team lead in hits (82). Jack Gurevitch leads players currently on the roster with 14 home runs. The infielder slugged .500 over the past week, including a three-home run game on July 21. Gurevitch earned Midwest Player of the Week honors.

On the mound, Yhoiker Fajardo holds the lowest ERA among starters at 3.68 across 73 ⅓ innings in 17 games (15 starts), and has tallied the most strikeouts on the staff at 104. Leonel Sequera is second on the team in K’s at 89.
Peoria is 13-16 in the second half and 45-50 overall. The Chiefs are in fifth place in the Midwest League West Division.

Palm Beach Cardinals (off day)
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals were off Monday as they traveled to Lee Health Sports Complex for a six-game series with the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, beginning Tuesday.
The Cardinals enter the week following a series split with the Tampa Tarpons.
Yordalin Peña holds the team lead in home runs (15) and RBI (56). Peña has also tallied a team-best 79 hits, with Ryan Weingartner in second with 67 and Brayden Smith on behind at 66. Ryan Mitchell has drawn the most walks on the team at 77.
On the mound, left-hander Cade Crossland has thrown a team-high 66 ⅓ innings across 18 appearances and 17 starts, striking out a team-best 100 in that time. Crossland has also won four contests. Keiverson Ramírez pitched four scoreless innings in relief as he returned from the FCL and made his season debut with Palm Beach on Sunday.
Palm Beach is 16-13 on the season and 49-46 overall. They are a half-game behind Daytona for first place in the Florida State League East Division.
Tuesday’s game: at Fort Myers (MIN). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM CT.
DSL Cardinals 5, DSL Colorado 1 (Game one, 7 innings)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals edged DSL Colorado as the home team in game one of Monday’s doubleheader.
Juan García made his ninth start of the season for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched five innings and allowed one run on one hit, one walk, and three strikeouts to earn his second win.
Rayner Reyes finished the game with two scoreless innings.
The Cardinals struck first with a two-run bottom of the second inning. Jesús Pérez was hit by a pitch. Pérez was caught stealing second, but was safe due to an error. Christopher Vargas doubled home Pérez to put the Cardinals in front. Roberth Castillo hit a second consecutive double to score Vargas.
The Cardinals extended the lead to 5-0 with three runs in the home fifth. Christian Sáez singled and Diego Conseción and John Franganten drew back-to-back walks to load the bases with no outs. Sáez crossed home plate on a Michael Cordero sacrifice fly. Conseción scored on a wild pitch. Misael Sánchez doubled to plate Franganten.
The Cardinals held DSL Colorado to just one hit with runners in scoring position.
The DSL Cardinals scored five runs on five hits, of which four were doubles. Sánchez, Vargas, and Castillo each doubled and drove in a run. Conseción walked, doubled, and scored. Cordero walked and tallied an RBI. Pérez drew two walks and scored. Franganten walked and scored.
On the bases, Pérez was caught stealing second and picked off first base.
On defense, third baseman Cordero made a throwing error.
DSL Cardinals 4 at DSL Colorado 15 (Game two, 7 innings)
As the away team, the DSL Cardinals lost a lopsided contest in the second game of Monday’s doubleheader.
Juan Santillán made his first professional start in his 15th game for the Cardinals. The left-hander threw 2 ⅓ innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits, two walks, and no strikeouts.
Brayan Amoroso surrendered five runs in an inning of work in relief of Santillán. Kriscol Peralta yielded four runs, three earned, over 1 ⅓ innings. Javier Martínez gave up three runs in the sixth.
The Cardinals opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the second inning. Lucas Takahashi blooped a single and Christopher Vargas walked. Jhonny Chaparro reached on a fielding error, with Takahashi coming home. Vargas moved to third on a flyout and scored on a balk to double the lead to 2-0.
The Cardinals scored a second pair of runs in the third. Jhon Franganten roped a lead-off double. Misael Sánchez deposited a single. Jesús Pérez grounded a single to bring Franganten home. Sánchez crossed home plate on a wild pitch for a 4-0 Cardinals lead.
DSL Colorado scored three runs in the home third, five in the fourth, four in the fifth, and three in the sixth to pull ahead 15-4. The Cardinals were unable to answer.
The DSL Cardinals scored four runs on eight hits. Pérez singled and drove in a run. Cordero was 2-for-4 with a double. Franganten doubled and scored. Chaparro collected two singles. Sánchez singled and scored.
The Cardinals did not steal a base.
On defense, shortstop Castillo and second baseman Diego Conseción each made a throwing error. Right fielder Franganten committed a fielding miscue.
The DSL Cardinals are 19-20 on the season. They will play a home contest with the DSL Mets on Tuesday.
