The St. Louis Cardinals system went 4-2 on Thursday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Brandon Komar, tossed a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts in Springfield’s win. Other standouts include Richie Palacios, Victor Scott II, Ross Friedrick and Jose Cordoba.

Playing as the Memphis Chicks, the Triple-A Redbirds moved back over .500 (50-49) as they topped the Iowa Cubs (CHC, 58-39) on Thursday at AutoZone Park.
In a bullpen game, Grant Black pitched the first four innings with no runs allowed. The right-hander yielded three hits, three walks and two punchouts.
The Redbirds scored all six runs in the first three innings. In the first, Richie Palacios and Masyn Winn hit back-to-back solo home runs. Matt Koperniak singled to score one.

Luken Baker recorded two RBI with a double in the second and leads the International League with 75 driven in. Juan Yepez came across on a wild pitch in the third.

In relief, Tommy Parsons received his first win of 2023 after he surrendered two runs in three innings. Kyle Leahy tossed two innings and gave up two runs with four strikeouts.
Every player in the lineup recorded a hit. Memphis had eight extra-base hits with 10 free passes. Palacios homered and walked three times. Iván Herrera and Koperniak walked twice and Nick Dunn doubled twice.
On the bases, Kramer Robertson took his 18th bag of the season.
Friday’s game: vs. Iowa, RHP Gordon Graceffo (2-2, 4.47) vs. RHP Hayden Wesneski (1-0, 1.35) 7:05 CT
The Springfield Cardinals (12-12) blanked the Tulsa Drillers (LAD, 8-16) at ONEOK Field on Thursday night.
Starter Brandon Komar pitched all nine innings and did not allow a run. The right-hander yielded three hits and two walks with seven punchouts. Komar earned his second win and recorded the first Springfield complete game since Matt Pearce in 2017.

In the first inning, Pedro Pagés blasted a two-run homer, his 13th of the year. Mike Antico scored in the third on an error and Irving Lopez brought in two via double. Chandler Redmond recorded an RBI groundout in the ninth. Arquímedes Gamboa walked with the bases loaded.
Victor Scott II went 3-for-5 with a double and two singles and scored twice. Antico and Lopez both had two hits. The lineup recorded nine hits and four walks.
Antico and Scott each stole a bag. Redmond committed a fielding error.
Friday’s game: at Tulsa, RHP Tink Hence (1-1, 1.80) vs. RHP River Ryan (1-5, 3.13) 7:05 CT
The Peoria Chiefs (13-14) fell to the South Bend Cubs (CHC, 12-15) at Dozer Park for their eighth straight loss.
Zane Mills gave up one run in five innings on five hits and one walk. The right-hander fanned one and took his fourth loss.
The Chiefs were no-hit through the first six innings. Their only run came in the seventh inning as Jimmy Crooks grounded into a forceout and Alex Iadisernia came across.
Out of the bullpen, Joseph King surrendered two runs in two innings. Edwin Nunez yielded a solo home run in two innings.
The Peoria offense recorded five hits and no walks with 10 strikeouts. Iadisernia and Ramon Mendoza doubled. The lineup went 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
R.J. Yeager and Nathan Church both stole a base.
Friday’s game: vs. South Bend, RHP Max Rajcic (0-2, 4.03) vs. RHP Brandon Birdsell (2-5, 2.55) 6:35 CT
The Palm Beach Cardinals (10-15) defeated the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (MIN, 11-16) on Thursday night at Hammond Stadium.
Pete Hansen earned his eighth win of the season after he gave up three runs in five innings on four hits and four walks. The 2022 draftee fanned six.
The Beach Birds put up two runs in the third. Chase Davis singled to score one and Leonardo Bernal walked with the bases loaded. Fort Myers tied the game in the fourth, but the Cardinals took the lead back in the fifth. Michael Curialle plated two with a double. Ross Friedrick singled to make the score 5-2.
Augusto Calderon was touched for a run in three innings with three strikeouts. Angel Cuenca fanned two in a hitless ninth inning.
Palm Beach scored four small ball runs in the eighth to put the game away. Won-Bin Cho walked with the bases loaded and Zach Levenson brought across one via sacrifice fly. Tre Richardson came in on a wild pitch and Cho scored on an error.
Friedrick went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Davis and Richardson recorded two hits apiece and Davis scored twice. The lineup had nine hits and seven walks in the win.
On the bases, Levenson and Cho both stole a bag.

FCL Cardinals 5, FCL Mets 4 (12 innings)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals (11-22) walked off the Mets (21-13) in the 12th inning in Jupiter on Thursday afternoon.
Starter Gerardo Salas surrendered three runs, two earned, in 3 1/3 innings on six hits, a walk and two strikeouts. In relief, Luis Gastelum struck out one in 1 2/3 scoreless frames. Samuel Fabian fanned three and gave up one run in two innings.
After the Mets took a 4-0 lead in the sixth inning, the Cardinals tied the game in the seventh. A wild pitch and a throwing error brought across Anyelo Encarnacion and Brody Moore. Jose Cordoba doubled to plate two and tie the game.
In 1 2/3 scoreless innings, Alejandro Cervantes yielded three hits and two walks with one strikeout. Ettore Giulianeli struck out five in 2 1/3 scoreless frames. Omar Yanez earned his first win after a hitless 12th inning.
In the 12th, Adari Grant started at second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Romtres Cabrera singled him home to win the game.
Cordoba and Yaisel Ramos both recorded two hits. Cordoba had the only extra-base hit, a double. The lineup collected seven hits and nine walks. The pitching held the Mets to 1-for-19 with runners in scoring position.
In his rehab assignment from Peoria, Brody Moore went 0-for-3 with two walks and a run scored.
On the base paths, Jonathan Mejia and Encarnacion both stole a bag and Moore was caught stealing. In the field, Yancel Guerrero committed a throwing error. Jose Suarez threw out two runners from right field and Fabian picked a runner off.

DSL Cardinals 1, DSL Phillies White 9 (8 innings)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (11-27) were defeated by the Phillies White (28-8) on Thursday. The game ended in the eighth inning due to lightning in the area.
Keiverson Ramirez tossed four scoreless frames and yielded three hits, one walk and three strikeouts. Out of the bullpen, Jarol Baez took his first loss after he gave up two runs in 1/3 of an inning. Bernard Mack surrendered two runs in 1 2/3 frames with three punchouts.
The Cardinals scored their only run of the game in the fifth inning. Heriberto Caraballo was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a ground out. Andru Arthur singled to make the score 2-1.
In the seventh inning, Jose Suriel was touched for three runs on two hits, two walks and one strikeout. Emisael Carrera allowed two runs in the eighth inning. The pitching yierlded 12 hits and eight walks.
Daniel Rojas, Yordalin Pena and Arthur had the only Cardinals hits. Arthur drove in a run and walked twice. Rojas recorded a double. The lineup left four runners on base and struck out 16 times.
Arthur was caught stealing second base. Rojas committed a fielding error.
