The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-2 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Peoria CF Tai Peete, was 4-for-4 with two solo home runs and a stolen base. Other standouts: Quinn Mathews, Ramon Mendoza, Leo Bernal, Cooper Hjerpe, Jesús Báez and Ty Van Dyke.

The Triple-A Redbirds beat the Bulls by the score of 7-2 on Friday at AutoZone Park.
Starter Quinn Mathews pitched seven innings, gave up one unearned run on three hits, walked three, fanned 10 and earned his fifth win.
Quinn Mathews recorded his first double-digit strikeout game since 2024 tonight.

Just up from Springfield, Andrew Schultz relieved Mathews and threw a scoreless eighth. Austin Love surrendered one run in the ninth.
On three long balls, Memphis went up 4-0 in the first inning. Joshua Báez hit a solo home run. César Prieto singled. Leo Bernal followed with a two-run home run. Ramon Mendoza thumped a solo home run.

Durham scored their first run in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 4-1.
The Redbirds responded with three runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 7-1. Bernal doubled. Chase Davis walked. Mendoza hit a three-run home run.

The Bulls added a second run in the ninth for the final score of 7-2.
The Redbirds scored seven runs on 10 hits. Mendoza hit two home runs with four RBI. Bernal was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Prieto was 2-for-4.
Prieto stole his fourth base. Colton Ledbetter swiped his 15th bag.
Bernal made a throwing error. Mathews picked a runner off first base.
Memphis is 10-15 in the second half.

The Double-A Cardinals blew out the Naturals by a 9-0 score on Friday.
Starter Cooper Hjerpe pitched four scoreless, no-hit innings, walked one and fanned seven.

Hunter Hayes relieved Hjerpe and threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings on three hits, no walks and two strikeouts for the win. Darlin Saladin and D.J. Carpenter tossed a scoreless inning each.
Springfield went ahead 5-0 in the third inning. Tre Richardson and Jon Jon Gazdar singled. Jesús Báez blasted a three-run home run. Rainiel Rodriguez and Won-Bin Cho singled. Ryan Campos was hit by a pitch. Miguel Ugueto doubled to plate Rodriguez and Cho but Campos was thrown out at home.

The Cardinals added two runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 7-0. Trey Paige and Tre Richardson singled. Gazdar was hit by a pitch. Paige came home on a sac fly by Báez. Richardson scored on a sac fly by Rodriguez.
Springfield made it 8-0 in the sixth. Richardson singled and stole second base. Richardson went to third on a ground out by Gazdar and came home on a sac fly by Báez.
The Cardinals added one more run in the ninth to win 9-0. Báez singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Cho singled. Deniel Ortiz plated Báez on a single.
The offense scored nine runs on 13 hits. Báez was 2-for-3 with five RBI and two runs scored. Richardson was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Cho was 2-for-5. Paige was 2-for-4. Ugueto had two RBI.
Richardson stole his 15th base. Ortiz made a fielding error.
Springfield is 15-10 in the second half.
Saturday’s game: at NW Arkansas, Liam Doyle LHP (1-6, 5.31) vs. Drew Beam RHP (5-8, 5.96) 6:05 CT.
The High-A Chiefs defeated the Whitecaps by a 5-3 score at Dozer Park on Friday.
Starter Ty Van Dyke pitched five innings, gave up one run on two hits, walked one and fanned seven.

Jack Martinez relieved Van Dyke and surrendered two runs in four innings but received the win.
West Michigan took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Peoria tied the game in the home first on a solo home run by Tai Peete.

Scoring stopped until the Whitecaps put up two runs in the top of the seventh to lead 3-1.
The Chiefs answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning to go ahead 5-3. Sammy Hernandez hit a solo home run. Anyelo Encarnación walked and stole second. Cameron Nickens followed with a two-run home run. Peete thumped his second solo home run.

The Class-A Cardinals were edged by the Tarpons by a 6-5 score on Friday at Roger Dean Stadium.
Starter Andrew Dutkanych pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up three runs on four hits, walked four and struck out three. Dutkanych took the loss.
Anthony Watts relieved Dutkanych and surrendered one run in 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Nelfy Ynfante yielded two runs over the final three innings.
Palm Beach took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a solo home run by Matthew Miura.
Tampa put up three runs in the fifth to take the lead. They added a run in the sixth to increase the gap to 4-1.
The Cardinals scored two runs in the home sixth to pull to within one. Yairo Padilla singled and advanced to second on a balk. Miura tripled to score Padilla. Yordalin Peña singled to plate Miura.
In the top of the seventh, the Tarpons put up two runs to extend the lead to 6-3.
Palm Beach responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to shrink the lead to 6-5. Johnfrank Salazar doubled and Padilla followed with a two-run home run.
The Cardinals scored five runs on 10 hits. Miura was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Padilla was 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Peña was 3-for-4 with an RBI.
The Cardinals are 15-12 in the second half.

DSL Cardinals 5 at DSL NYY Bombers 13
The Dominican Cardinals were routed by the DSL NYY Bombers by a 13-5 score on Friday.
Starter Emilio Jiménez pitched two innings, gave up five runs, three earned, on three hits, walked four and struck out three. Jiménez took the loss.
Jhon Cabrera relieved Jiménez and surrendered two runs in 2 1/3 innings. Kriscol Peralta yielded one run in 1 2/3 innings. Javier Martínez allowed two runs in the seventh. Brayan Amaroso relinquished three unearned runs in the ninth.
The Bombers put up two runs in the first, added three in the third, two in the fourth and one in the sixth to amass an 8-0 lead.
In the top of the seventh, the Cardinals got on the board with four runs to cut the Bombers’ lead in half. Lucas Takahashi walked. Christopher Vargas singled. Jhonny Chaparro grounded into a force out, eliminating Vargas. Christian Sáez singled to plate Takahashi. Diego Conseción doubled to score Chaparro. Sáez came home on a wild pitch. Conseción scored on a single by Jhon Franganten.
In the home seventh, the Bombers extended their lead to 10-4. They made it 13-4 in the eighth.
The Cardinals plated one run in the ninth to bring the final score to 13-5. Sáez reached on an error. Conseción grounded into a force out with Sáez out at second. Franganten and Michael Cordero walked to load the bases. Misael Sánchez drove in Conseción on a single, but the rally attempt ended there.
The Cardinals scored five runs on eight hits. Vargas was 2-for-4. Conseción scored two runs.
It was not a clean day for the Cardinals defense. Chaparro made two throwing errors. Vargas and Sánchez each had a fielding miscue. Martínez made an error on a pickoff attempt. Chaparro had two passed balls.
The Cardinals are 17-19 on the season and are in fourth place in the DSL Southeast.
