The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 1-1 on Monday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, DSL 6-foot-8 RHP Reiner Lopez, fired two scoreless innings with two strikeouts to earn his first professional save. Other standouts include Bernard Mack, Facundo Velasquez, Briam Reyes and Michael Cordero.

Memphis Redbirds (off-day)
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were off Monday, as they headed home to AutoZone Park for a six-game series with the Gwinnett Stripers (ATL) starting Tuesday.
The Redbirds came out of the All-Star Break hot, taking two of three at Toledo over the weekend.
Outfielder Nathan Church continued his incredible stretch at the Triple-A level with three hits in Sunday’s doubleheader, including a go-ahead two-run home run in Memphis’ game two victory.

The 25-year-old is hitting .365 with a .441 on-base percentage through his first 32 games with the Redbirds and has amassed five home runs and 24 RBI among 46 total hits.
On the mound, Michael McGreevy and Curtis Taylor have posted solid results in the starting rotation. McGreevy, who was called up to St. Louis on Monday, holds a 3.72 ERA and 78 strikeouts through 15 starts and 75 innings. Taylor has a 3.43 ERA across 21 games, 14 of which were starts. Taylor has thrown a team-leading 84 innings. Andre Granillo has been dominant out of the bullpen with a pristine 1.50 ERA in 24 games and 36 innings.
Memphis is 49-45 overall, and 8-13 in the second half after taking two of three from Toledo. They reside in ninth place in the International League West Division.

Springfield Cardinals (off-day)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were off Monday, as they traveled to ONEOK Field in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for a six-game set with the Tulsa Drillers beginning Tuesday.
The Cardinals maintained their Texas League North Division lead by taking two of three from Wichita at home over the weekend.
Leonardo Bernal leads Springfield with 49 RBI and is tied with Ramon Mendoza for the team lead in home runs at 11. Noah Mendlinger leads players currently on the roster with a .297 batting average and has drawn considerably more walks (37) than strikeouts (24), for a .416 on-base percentage.
Left-hander Ixan Henderson has continued to anchor the starting rotation. Through 16 starts, Henderson leads the team in innings pitched (85 ⅓), ERA (2.43), wins (6), and strikeouts (90). Henderson’s 90 strikeouts are third-best in the Texas League.
Springfield is 58-32 overall, and 15-6 in the second half. They hold a three-game lead in the Texas League North Division.
Tuesday’s game: at Tulsa (LAD), LHP Brycen Mautz (3-2, 3.62) vs. RHP Patrick Copen (3-3, 2.30) 7:00 PM CT.
Peoria Chiefs (off-day)
The High-A Peoria Chiefs were off Monday, as they headed home to Dozer Park for a six-game set with the West Michigan Whitecaps starting Tuesday.
The Chiefs won two of three from Quad Cities on the road in their first series following the All-Star Break.
Brayden Jobert, Josh Kross, and Zach Levenson are tied for the team home run lead with six. Ian Petrutz is close behind with five home runs and leads Peoria with 40 RBI. Levenson has drawn the most walks on the team at 48, with Ryan Campos right behind at 47.
Braden Davis turned in a strong Chiefs debut on Sunday in his first action at the High-A level. The left-hander pitched five innings of one-run ball with eight strikeouts. Davis is one of two starting pitchers recently promoted from the Palm Beach Cardinals. The second new arm, Brandt Thompson, is scheduled to make his Peoria debut on Tuesday. Thompson posted a 3.84 ERA with 64 strikeouts across 79 ⅔ innings with Palm Beach.
Peoria is 37-52 overall, and 11-13 in the second half. They are tied for fourth place in the Midwest League West Division, 4.5 games back of first place.

Palm Beach Cardinals (off-day)
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals were off Monday, as they headed home to Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium to play four games in three days with the Jupiter Hammerheads.
Palm Beach is coming off a 2-1 series win in St. Lucie over the first place Mets.
Deniel Ortiz has put together an impressive offensive season for the Cardinals. The infielder is hitting .280 with a team-best nine home runs and third on the team with 33 RBI. Cade McGee has driven in 47 runs to lead the team.
Right-hander Nolan Sparks leads players currently on the roster with 74 strikeouts in 66 innings. Leonel Sequera has thrown the most innings of Palm Beach pitchers on the roster with 72 ⅔.
Palm Beach is 42-45 overall, and 10-12 in the second half. They reside in third place in the Florida State League East Division, 4.5 games back of first place.
Tuesday’s game: vs. Jupiter (MIA). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 PM CT.
The Florida Complex League Cardinals lost a close contest to the Astros on Monday.
Bernard Mack made his seventh start for the Cardinals. The left-hander pitched a career-high five innings and allowed one run on two hits, two walks, and four strikeouts.
Juan Severino yielded two runs with three strikeouts across 1 ⅔ innings in relief of Mack and took the loss. Giovanni Vargas threw 1 ⅓ innings and allowed one unearned run. Brailyn Paulino tossed a scoreless ninth inning.
The Astros took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.
The Cardinals tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. Yancel Guerrero led off the frame with a double. Guerrero moved to third base on a Romtres Cabrera groundout and scored on a sacrifice fly from Hancel Almonte.
The Astros retook the lead with a run in the top of the sixth.
The Cardinals tied the game in the home sixth. Andru Arthur walked and advanced to second base via a throwing error on a pickoff attempt. Facundo Velasquez lined a double to score Arthur.
The Astros scored a run apiece in the seventh and eighth innings. The Cardinals failed to respond.
The FCL Cardinals scored two runs on six hits. Velasquez was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, and one RBI. Guerrero doubled and scored a run. Almonte drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. The lineup struck out 11 times and drew just four walks.
On the bases, Bracewell Taveras swiped his 13th bag. Guerrero stole his 21st. Heriberto Caraballo was caught stealing second base. Daniel Rojas was picked off first base and caught stealing second base.
On defense, center fielder Arthur committed a fielding error.
The FCL Cardinals are 23-30 on the season. They reside in fourth place in the FCL East Division and are eliminated from playoff contention. The Cardinals will play one road contest with the FCL Marlins on Tuesday after the first game of the originally scheduled doubleheader was canceled.
Tuesday’s game: at FCL Marlins. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is slated for 11:00 AM CT.
DSL Cardinals 3 at DSL Colorado 2
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals edged Colorado in a comeback win on Monday.
Juan Garcia started his sixth game for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched four innings and allowed two runs on four hits, one walk, and two strikeouts.
Jesus Garcia fanned the side in a scoreless inning in relief. Briam Reyes struck out four across two shutout frames to pick up his third win. Reiner Lopez tossed two scoreless innings to collect his first professional save.
DSL Colorado opened the scoring with a two-run third inning.
The Cardinals tied the game in the sixth inning. Miguel Hernandez was hit by a pitch and Sebastian Dos Santos walked. Yaxson Lucena singled to load the bases with no outs. Brayan Amoroso lined a single to score Hernandez. Michael Cordero hit the third single of the inning to plate Dos Santos with the tying run.
The Cardinals claimed the lead with a run in the seventh. Kenly Hunter reached on a throwing error and advanced on Hernandez’ single. Hunter crossed home plate on a wild pitch to put the Cardinals in front 3-2.
The Cardinals stranded eight Colorado baserunners in the one-run victory.
The DSL Cardinals scored three runs on six hits. Cordero was 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI. Amoroso walked twice, singled, and drove in a run. Dos Santos singled, walked, and scored a run.
On the bases, Hernandez stole two bags to increase his season total to 14. Hunter swiped his 14th base.
The Cardinals did not commit an error on defense.
The DSL Cardinals are 19-16 on the season. They reside in second place in the DSL Southeast Division, just one game back of the Marlins. The Cardinals will have a rematch with DSL Colorado at home on Tuesday.
