The St. Louis Cardinals system went 2-4 on Thursday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Gerardo Salas, pitched six scoreless innings in the FCL’s win. Other standouts include Moisés Gómez, Arquímedes Gamboa, Osvaldo Tovalin and Michael Curialle.

The Memphis Redbirds (46-47) fell to the Charlotte Knights (CWS, 38-54) on Thursday night at Truist Field.
Starter Andrew Suárez tossed five innings and gave up a run on six hits and two walks. The 30-year-old fanned seven.
The Redbirds scored their only run in the fourth inning to tie the game 1-1. Moisés Gómez blasted his 22nd home run of the season, a solo shot. Charlotte took the lead in the seventh.

Juan Yepez, Taylor Motter and Nick Dunn recorded two hits apiece. Motter and Chase Pinder doubled. The lineup had its chances but went 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left 13 runners on base.
On the bases, Kramer Robertson took his 17th bag of the year. In the field, Nick Raposo and Dunn committed errors.

The Springfield Cardinals (9-9) beat the Arkansas Travelers (SEA, 10-7) at Hammons Field on Thursday.
Connor Lunn surrendered five runs in four innings on seven hits and three walks. The right-hander fanned two and yielded two home runs. In the first game of his rehab assignment, Drew VerHagen was touched for one run in an inning.
After Arkansas took a 5-0 lead in the third inning, the Cardinals responded with three runs in the third. Victor Scott II doubled to plate one and Pedro Pagés grounded out to bring in Scott. Jose Alvarez walked with the bases loaded.
The Travelers put up one run in the fifth but Springfield scored six runs over the next three innings. Arquímedes Gamboa doubled in the fifth inning to make it a one-run game. In the sixth, Mike Antico stole third and came across on an error. Pagés blasted a solo home run, his 12th of the year. Pinch-hitter Noah Mendlinger singled in the seventh to bring two across.

Nick Trogrlic-Iverson earned his second win after 1 2/3 scoreless frames. Roy Garcia fanned one in 1 1/3 innings and Andre Granillo saved his 10th game of the season despite giving up a run in the ninth inning.
Alvarez recorded two hits, one walk, an RBI and a run scored. Mendlinger, Pagés and Gamboa drove in two runs apiece. The lineup had eight hits and nine walks.
On the base paths, Scott took his ninth Double-A bag. Antico stole two bases and has 30 this season. Alvarez was caught stealing.

The Peoria Chiefs (13-8) were defeated by the Cedar Rapids Kernels (MIN, 13-8) at PG Cares Field on Thursday.
Trent Baker yielded seven runs, six earned, in 4 1/3 innings on eight hits and two walks. TCN’s no. 23 prospect struck out seven and took his sixth loss.
Down 7-0 in the sixth inning, the Chiefs attempted a comeback. Jimmy Crooks walked and Osvaldo Tovalin blasted a two-run homer, his seventh of 2023. Tyler Reichenborn added a solo shot in the seventh to make the score 8-3.

Out of the bullpen, Nathanael Heredia gave up one run in 1 2/3 innings. Jack Ralston surrendered a run in two innings on one hit, four walks and four punchouts.
Peoria recorded five hits and four walks. Tovalin and Reichenborn hit home runs. The lineup went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position.
Ramon Mendoza was caught stealing and Francisco Hernandez was picked off. Jeremy Rivas committed a fielding error.

Palm Beach 6, St. Lucie 7 (7 innings, Game 1)
The Palm Beach Cardinals (4-14) fell to the St. Lucie Mets (NYM, 7-13) in game one of a scheduled doubleheader at Clover Park. Palm Beach was the home squad.
Benjamin Arias was charged with a run in two innings on two hits and a walk. Out of the bullpen, Henry Gomez yielded three runs in two innings and took his third loss. The right-hander gave up two hits and four walks.
The Mets scored one run in the second, but the Beach Birds answered with two runs in the bottom half. Javier Bolivar walked with the bases loaded and Chris Rotondo singled to plate one.
Chandler Arnold was touched for two runs on a hit, four walks and one strikeout in 2/3 of an inning. In 2 1/3 innings, Luis Gastelum surrendered a solo home run with two punchouts.
In the fifth inning, Michael Curialle blasted a two-run homer, his second of the season. Lizandro Espinoza hit a solo homer in the sixth, his third of 2023. Palm Beach attempted a comeback in the seventh inning. Curialle brought across a run via sacrifice fly to make the score 7-6.
The Cardinals recorded four hits and five walks in the seven-inning contest. Curialle and Espinoza homered and Leonardo Bernal walked twice. Curialle drove in three runs. The lineup went 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
Joshua Baez and Adanson Cruz stole a base each.
Palm Beach, St. Lucie – Postponed
Due to inclement weather, the Palm Beach Cardinals and St. Lucie Mets second game was postponed to Friday.

FCL Cardinals 3 at FCL Marlins 1
The Florida Complex League Cardinals (10-18) topped the Marlins (17-11) in Jupiter on Thursday afternoon.
Starter Gerardo Salas earned his first win of the year after he pitched six scoreless frames with five punchouts.
The Cardinals scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings. Raul Guzman blasted a solo home run in the third, his third of the season. In the fourth, Romtres Cabrera singled in a run. Justin Guerrero’s sacrifice fly in the fifth made the score 3-0.
In relief, Randel Clemente fanned one in a scoreless seventh inning. Alexander Beltre surrendered a solo homer in the eighth inning. Antoni Cuello saved his second game of the season with a scoreless ninth.
Guzman and Samil De La Rosa recorded two hits. Cabrera singled, walked and brought in a run. The lineup went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and the pitching struck out seven batters with only one walk.
On the base paths, Jeremy Ramos, Adari Grant and Cabrera all took bags. Guzman was caught stealing.

DSL Cardinals 0 at DSL Mariners 9
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (10-23) were no-hit by the Mariners (15-17) on Thursday.
Keiverson Ramirez gave up three runs in 2 2/3 innings on three hits and two walks. The 17-year-old fanned six and is 0-4 this season. Guanchi Martinez yielded a run in 1 1/3 innings with two punchouts.
Bernard Mack struck out three in three hitless innings. Jarol Baez was touched for five runs, one earned, in 2/3 of an inning. Kener Perez pitched 1/3 of an inning.
The lineup did not record a hit against the Mariners. Fernando Roquez had the only walk and Andru Arthur was hit by a pitch. The lineup went 0-for-1 with runners in scoring position.
In the field, Facundo Velasquez, Bracewell Taveras, Arfeni Batista and Elias Reynoso each committed an error. Velasquez had an outfield assist.
