The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was a perfect 2-0 on Thursday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, DSL’s Jan Cabrera, pitched five scoreless innings with four strikeouts to improve to 3-0. Other standouts include Yadiel Batista, Andru Arthur, Brayan Amoroso and Hendrick Cana.

Memphis Redbirds (off-day)
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds are off for the All-Star Break and will continue their season on Friday in a three-game set with the Toledo Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field in Toledo, Ohio.
The Redbirds will look to get back on track after dropping four of six to Charlotte at home and a 6-12 start to the second half.
Jimmy Crooks continues to surge offensively and leads the team with 11 home runs and 63 RBI. The catcher sports a solid .260 batting average. Nathan Church has continued his impressive start at the Triple-A level with a .365 batting average, four home runs, and 21 RBI. The outfielder has drawn more walks (17) than strikeouts (15) in 29 games with Memphis.
Michael McGreevy, the team’s strikeout leader with 78, will look to regain his groove after two consecutive rough starts prior to the break. Curtis Taylor has been solid since his move to the starting rotation and holds a 3.63 ERA across 79 ⅓ innings in 13 starts and 20 appearances overall.
Max Rajcic was promoted to Memphis from the Double-A Springfield Cardinals on Thursday and is expected to slot into Tekoah Roby’s spot in the starting rotation, as Roby was placed on the seven-day injured list. Rajcic has pitched to a 4.07 ERA with 72 strikeouts over 16 starts with Springfield.
Memphis is 47-44 overall, and 6-12 in the second half. They reside in fourth place in the International League West Division and are seven games back of the lead.
Friday’s game: at Toledo (DET). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM CT.
Springfield Cardinals (off-day)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals are off for the All-Star Break and will continue the season with a three-game home set at Hammons Field against the Wichita Wind Surge, starting Friday.
The Cardinals enter the week hot following a 13-2 stretch, including a current seven game winning streak, and are a season high 25 games over .500.

Leonardo Bernal and Ramon Mendoza have powered the offense for the Cardinals this season. Bernal leads the team with 11 home runs and 47 RBI. Mendoza is close behind with 10 home runs and 42 RBI with a .377 on-base percentage. Noah Mendlinger leads players currently on the roster with a .293 batting average.
On the mound, starter Ixan Henderson has dominated. The left-hander sports a 2.36 ERA, second overall in the Texas League, across 15 starts and 80 innings pitched. Henderson has struck out 88 on the year.
Nick Raquet and Ricardo Velez have excelled out of the bullpen. Raquet boasts a 0.86 ERA with 36 strikeouts across 22 games and 31 1/3 innings. Velez sports a 1.31 ERA over 34 1/3 innings in 17 appearances.
The starting rotation is set to be bolstered with the promotion of Cade Winquest from Peoria, while the bullpen will add a left-hander in Michael Watson. Winquest led the Chiefs with 68 strikeouts. Watson saved three games for the Chiefs and has moved up two levels this season. Both pitchers were promoted from Peoria.
Springfield is 56-31, and 13-5 in the second half.

Peoria Chiefs (off-day)
The High-A Peoria Chiefs are off for the All-Star Break and will resume the season on Friday with a three-game set against the Quad Cities River Bandits at Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport, Iowa.
Brayden Jobert, Josh Kross, and Zach Levenson are tied for the team-lead with six home runs. Ian Petrutz has driven in the most runs for the Chiefs at 37. Kross is tied with Levenson for second place in RBI with 32. Since his promotion to Peoria, Kross has recorded more RBI (32) than games played (31).
On the mound, Jose Davila has thrown the most innings at 72 and Gerardo Salas has made the most starts at 17.
The rotation will have two new arms with the promotions of left-hander Braden Davis and right-hander Brandt Thompson from Palm Beach. Davis has pitched to a 3.26 ERA over 69 innings with 97 strikeouts in 13 starts and 16 appearances overall with Palm Beach. Thompson holds a 3.84 ERA across 15 starts and one relief appearance at the Low-A level.
Peoria will look to get back on track after the break as they have lost seven consecutive contests.
Peoria is 35-51 overall, and 9-12 in the second half. They reside in fifth place in the Midwest League West Division but are just 3.5 games back of a share of first place.
Friday’s game: at Quad Cities (KC). RHP Jason Savacool (6-2, 2.14) vs. RHP Logan Martin (8-3, 3.73) 6:30 PM CT.
Palm Beach Cardinals (off-day)
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals are off for the All-Star Break and will resume their season on Friday with a three-game road set at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida, with the St. Lucie Mets.
Cade McGee has produced the most runs for Palm Beach with 46 RBI. Deniel Ortiz is tied with McGee for the team lead in home runs with eight. Ortiz leads all players currently on the roster with a .278 batting average. The infielder’s 28 stolen bases lead the team and puts him in sixth place in the Florida State League.
Leonel Sequera has started 17 games for Palm Beach to lead the team and leads players currently on the roster with 72 ⅔ innings pitched. Nolan Sparks leads pitchers currently on the roster with 74 strikeouts.
Palm Beach is 40-44 overall and 8-11 in the second half. They reside in third place in the Florida State League East Division, 5.5 games back of first place.
Friday’s game: at St. Lucie (NYM). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 5:10 PM CT.
The Florida Complex League Cardinals blanked the FCL Mets in a home contest on Thursday.
Andrew Dutkanych IV made his second career start. The right-hander pitched two scoreless innings on two hits, no walks, and three strikeouts.
Hunter Kublick fired three scoreless, hitless innings with four strikeouts in relief of Dutkanych IV and picked up his first win of 2025. Left-hander Yadiel Batista threw four no-hit frames with four strikeouts to earn his second career save.
The Cardinals scored the first run in the second inning off rehabbing New York Mets starter Paul Blackburn. Daniel Rojas singled and stole second base. Yancel Guerrero followed with a walk. Romtres Cabrera lined a single to bring Rojas home.
The Cardinals surged ahead further with a six-run seventh inning. Cabrera drew a lead-off walk and stole second and third base. Hancel Almonte drove in Cabrera with a single. Bracewell Taveras reached base via a fielding error, with Almonte to third. Now a catcher, Johnfrank Salazar ripped a double to score Almonte, with Taveras to third base. Heriberto Caraballo reached on the second fielding error of the inning as Taveras came home. Andru Arthur singled home Salazar and Caraballo to move the Cardinals in front 6-0. Rojas reached on a throwing error, the third error of the frame, and moved to second base, with Arthur to third. Arthur touched home plate on a Guerrero sacrifice fly for a 7-0 Cardinals lead.
The Cardinals’ pitching combined to allow just two hits and two walks with 11 strikeouts in the dominant win.
The FCL Cardinals scored seven runs on eight hits. Arthur was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Cabrera was 1-for-2, including two walks, a run scored, and an RBI. Almonte walked, singled, scored a run, and drove in a run. Salazar doubled and drove in a run.
On the bases, Cabrera stole two bags for seven steals on the season. Taveras swiped his 11th. Rojas snagged his 12th base.
The Cardinals did not commit an error on defense.
The FCL Cardinals are 21-29 on the season and reside in fourth place in the FCL East Division, eliminated from playoff contention. The Cardinals are off on Friday and will continue their homestead with a doubleheader against the FCL Marlins on Saturday.
Saturday’s games: Pitching probables have not yet been announced for either game. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 9:00 AM CT with game two following shortly after the conclusion of game one.
DSL Cardinals 8 at DSL Phillies Red 2
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals bested the DSL Phillies Red in a road contest on Thursday.
Jan Cabrera started for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched five scoreless innings on two hits, no walks, and four strikeouts. Cabrera earned the win to improve to a 3-0 record and a solid 3.19 ERA through seven career starts.
Hendrick Cana struck out five across four shutout frames in relief of Cabrera to lower his ERA to 2.25. Beiker Rodriguez surrendered two runs and recorded just one out in the ninth inning. Pedro Olivero recorded the final two outs without another run allowed.
The Cardinals struck first with a two-run second inning. Yaxson Lucena doubled and Cristofer Lebron singled to put runners at the corners. Brayan Amoroso lined a single to score Lucena. Hector Cabrera was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jesus Perez grounded into a forceout with Lebron home for a 2-0 lead.
The Cardinals added a run in the third. Miguel Hernandez singled and Edward Guribe doubled. Lucena walked to load the bags. Yeferson Portolain drew a bases-loaded walk to bring Hernandez home.
The Cardinals stretched the lead to five runs in the fifth. Guribe walked. Portolatin reached base on a fielding error. Amoroso followed with a single to bring Guribe and Portolatin home for a 5-0 Cardinals lead.

The Cardinals extended the lead further with a three-run sixth inning. Perez started with his first career triple and scored on Kenly Hunter’s first career double. Hernandez and Guribe took back-to-back walks to load the bases. Lucena drove in Hunter on a groundout. Lebron walked to load the bags once more. Portolatin grounded into a forceout play, with Hernandez home to break the game open at 8-0.
The Cardinals held off a late Phillies Red rally in the victory.
The DSL Cardinals scored eight runs on nine hits. Amoroso singled twice and tallied three RBI. Lucena was 2-for-4, including a double, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI. Portolatin walked and recorded two RBI. Guribe walked twice and doubled. Hunter doubled and drove in a run. Perez hit a triple and recorded an RBI.
The Cardinals did not record a stolen base.
On defense, shortstop Hernandez made a throwing error. Catcher Cabrera was tagged with a passed ball.
The DSL Cardinals are 18-15 on the season and tied with the DSL Marlins for first place in the DSL Southeast Division. The Cardinals will play a home contest with the Marlins for a chance to take sole possession of first place on Friday.
