The St. Louis Cardinals system went 1-5 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Pedro Pagés, hit two home runs with three RBI in Springfield’s win. Other standouts include Moisés Gómez, Chandler Redmond, Nick Dunn and Felix Taveras.

The Memphis Redbirds (44-45) fell to the Gwinnett Stripers (ATL, 38-50) on Saturday at AutoZone Park.
Gordon Graceffo tossed six innings and surrendered three runs on six hits and a walk. TCN’s no. 6 prospect fanned three.
The Redbirds put up one run in the first inning as Masyn Winn tripled and came across on a wild pitch. Moisés Gómez blasted a solo home run in the second inning, his 21st of the year. In the fifth, Memphis tied the game at 3-3 with a single from Winn to score Juniel Querecuto.

Out of the bullpen, Ryan Loutos gave up four runs in two innings on five hits and one walk. The right-hander struck out two and took his third Triple-A loss. Chris Roycroft fanned two in a scoreless ninth.
As the 27th man for St. Louis’ double-header, reliever James Naile was unavailable for Memphis on Saturday.
Winn, Gómez, Querecuto and Taylor Motter recorded two hits apeice. Winn tripled and Matt Koperniak doubled. Tyler O’Neill went 0-for-4, lowering his batting average to .227 in his continuing rehab assignment. The lineup was 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
On the base paths, Winn was caught stealing.
Sunday’s game: vs. Gwinnett, LHP Matthew Liberatore (4-1, 3.42) vs. RHP AJ Smith-Shawver (0-2, 5.87) 2:05 CT
The Springfield Cardinals (7-7) topped the Wichita Wind Surge (MIN, 6-8) at Riverfront Stadium on Saturday night.
Tink Hence yielded two runs in five innings on five hits, one walk and three punchouts. TCN’s no. 3 prospect earned his first Double-A win. Logan Sawyer struck out four in two scoreless frames.
Pedro Pagés blasted a solo home run in the third. In the fifth, Pagés hit another, this time a two-run shot, his 11th of the season. Irving Lopez singled to make the score 5-1. Nick Dunn drove in one with a double in the sixth and Noah Mendlinger brought in one via sacrifice fly.
Roy Garcia fanned three and walked one in the scoreless eighth inning. Nick Trogrlic-Iverson closed out the game with a 1-2-3 ninth.
In the eighth inning, Dunn singled to plate one. Chandler Redmond blasted a two-run home run, his 24th. TCN’s no. 40 prospect now leads Minor League Baseball in long balls.

Dunn went 3-for-6 with two runs, two RBI and a double. The top four hitters in the lineup went 9-for-21 with seven RBI. Pagés hit two home runs and Redmond had one.
On the base paths, Victor Scott II took two bags and has 54 this season between Peoria and Springfield. Mike Antico was picked off once.

The Peoria Chiefs (11-6) were defeated by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (MIL, 9-8) at Dozer Park on Saturday.
Starter Zane Mills was charged with a run in four innings on two hits and two walks. Dionys Rodriguez pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up two runs with two strikeouts.
The Chiefs scored single runs in the second and third innings. After Ramon Mendoza singled and Jeremy Rivas walked, they both stole a base and Mendoza came across on an error. In the fifth, Osvaldo Tovalin singled to make the score 3-1.
In relief, Nathanael Heredia yielded two runs in 1 1/3 innings on three hits and two walks. He took the blown save and the loss. Gustavo Rodriguez surrendered a solo home run in two innings.
Alex Iadisernia, Nathan Church and R.J. Yeager had two hits apiece. Iadisernia had the only extra-base hit, a double. The lineup went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners on base.
Mendoza and Rivas both took a base. Elijah Cabell threw a runner out at first from right field.

Palm Beach 0, Daytona 5 (7 innings, Game 1)
The Palm Beach Cardinals (3-13) were blanked by the Daytona Tortugas (CIN, 9-7) on Saturday in Game 1 of a scheduled doubleheader. The temporarily displaced Beach Birds were the home team at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
Starter Cade Winquest gave up two runs on five hits and no walks in five innings. The 23-year-old struck out five and took his sixth loss.
Out of the bullpen, John Lynch yielded three runs in 1 1/3 innings with two punchouts. Angel Cuenca fanned two in a scoreless 2/3 of an inning.
Chris Rotondo doubled and had the only multi-hit game with two. Won-Bin Cho and Joshua Baez singled. The lineup went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
On the bases, Baez stole his 14th bag of the season. In the field, Rotondo recorded an outfield assist from center field.
Palm Beach 0, Daytona 0 (2 innings, Game 2) – Suspended
The second game between the Palm Beach Cardinals (3-13) and Daytona Tortugas (CIN, 9-7) was suspended in the bottom of the second inning due to rain in the Daytona area. The contest will be completed on Sunday.
Sunday’s games: vs. Daytona, RHP Henry Gomez (0-2, 5.27) vs. TBA 4:00 CT, Game 2 following.
FCL Cardinals 8, FCL Marlins 11
The Florida Complex League Cardinals (9-17) were outslugged by the Marlins (16-10) on Saturday afternoon in Jupiter.
The Cardinals used seven pitchers in the contest. Starter Alexander Beltre walked three and struck out one in 2 2/3 scoreless innings. In relief, Miguel Martinez surrendered a run in 1 1/3 innings. Samuel Fabian yielded four runs, three earned, with three strikeouts in 2/3 of an inning.
In the first inning, Felix Taveras came across on a wild pitch. Samil De La Rosa doubled in the third to plate one. In the fourth, Romtres Cabrera singled to bring one across. Jonathan Mejia tripled and Taveras singled to make the score 5-1.
The Marlins put up 10 runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good. Alejandro Cervantes took his second loss after he was touched for six runs. Diorys Guerrero recorded a scoreless 2/3 of an inning. Antoni Cuello pitched 2 2/3 scoreless frames and Randel Clemente fanned three in a scoreless ninth.
Yaisel Ramos blasted a two-run home run in the seventh inning, his second of the year. De La Rosa brought across a run in the eighth via single.
The lineup had 13 hits, five walks and went 3-for-10 with runners in scoring position. Taveras went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two singles, a walk, one RBI and three runs. De La Rosa walked once, recorded three hits and drove in one run. Ramos had the only other multi-hit game with two.
In the field, Alejandro Loaiza committed three errors.

DSL Cardinals 2 at DSL Phillies White 3
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (10-19) were walked off by the Phillies White (22-6) at Phillies DR Complex on Saturday.
The Cardinals used seven pitchers in the contest. Starter Juan Severino yielded two unearned runs on two hits, two walks and four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. Bernard Mack recorded a scoreless 2/3 of an inning. Braylin Paulino pitched a scoreless frame.
The Cardinals put up their first run in the third inning. Marcelo Perez singled and Daniel Rojas drove him in with a triple. In the sixth, Bracewell Taveras tied the game with an RBI single.
Giovanni Vargas, Jarol Baez and Guanchi Martinez tossed a scoreless inning each. Stiveen Rojas gave up the winning run in 1/3 of an inning on a hit and two walks. The 16-year-old took his first loss.
Hancel Almonte recorded the only multi-hit game with two. The right fielder doubled and Rojas tripled. The lineup went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
The defense committed four errors in the contest. Rojas and Facundo Velasquez both had one. Severino had two.
