The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-4 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis DH Thomas Saggese, was 4-for-5 including a home run, two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored. Other standouts include Bligh Madris, Won-Bin Cho, Jesús Báez, Rainiel Rodriguez, Josh Kross, Jesús Pérez and Luis Estrella.

The Triple-A Redbirds defeated the Knights by a 10-5 score at AutoZone Park on Tuesday. Starter Hunter Dobbins pitched 5 2/3 innings, gave up five runs, four earned, on nine hits, walked one and fanned four for his fifth win of the season.
Jared Shuster, Scott Blewett and Austin Love combined for 3 1/3 innings of scoreless bullpen work.
Charlotte took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Memphis answered with five runs in the home first. Victor Scott walked. Thomas Saggese singled, moving Scott to third. Scott scored on a sac fly by César Prieto. Nolan Gorman doubled to plate Saggese. Leo Bernal plated Gorman on a single. Bligh Madris followed with a two-run home run.

The Redbirds added two runs in the second to increase the lead to 7-1. Scott doubled and Saggese blasted a two-run home run.

Memphis extended the lead to 9-1 in the fourth. Scott walked. Saggese doubled to drive in Scott. Prieto reached on a fielder’s choice. Saggese came home on a sac fly by Joshua Báez.
The Knights rallied for four runs in the sixth, with some help from the Redbird defense, to cut the lead to 9-5.
Memphis added a final run in the seventh on a solo home run by Madris for the 10-5 win.
The offense scored 10 runs on nine hits. Saggese was 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, three RBI and three runs scored. Madris was 2-for-4, both home runs, with three RBI. Scott scored three runs.
Gorman made a throwing error. Jeremy Rivas had two fielding miscues.
Memphis is 2-5 in the second half.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Charlotte, Bruce Zimmermann LHP (5-3, 4,09) vs. Jonathan Cannon RHP (2-3, 6.27) 7:05 CT.
The Double-A Cardinals lost a one run decision to the Travelers in Springfield on Tuesday. Starter Braden Davis pitched four innings, gave up two runs on three hits, walked five and fanned five.
D.J. Carpenter relieved Davis and surrendered five runs in the fifth. Randel Clemente threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Michael Watson hurled 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Dominic Picone yielded one run in the ninth and took the loss.
Arkansas took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Springfield tied the game in the second. Jesús Báez doubled and scored on a single by Won-Bin Cho.
The Travelers added a run in the third to lead 2-1. The Cardinals scored two runs in the fourth to take the lead 3-2. Miguel Ugueto and Cho hit solo home runs.

Arkansas posted a five-run top of the fifth to go ahead 7-3.
Springfield made it 7-4 in the home fifth on a solo home run Travis Honeyman, then added another run in the sixth on a solo home run by Báez.

The Cardinals tied the game with a two-run seventh. Dakota Harris singled before Rainiel Rodriguez blasted a two-run long ball.

The Travelers broke the tie with an unanswered run in the ninth.
The Cardinals scored seven runs on nine hits. Cho was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Báez was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Rodriguez drove in two.
Ortiz was picked off first base. Carpenter picked a runner off first base.
Springfield is 5-2 in the second half.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Arkansas, RHP Brandt Thompson (2-2, 4.83) vs. Ryan Hawks RHP (4-3, 5.05) 7:05 CT.
The High-A Chiefs were edged by the Timber Rattlers by a 5-4 score on Tuesday at Dozer Park. Starter Blake Aita pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up five runs on eight hits, walked two and fanned five. Aita took the loss.
Jawilme Ramírez, Christian Worley, Jason Savacool and Nolan Sparks tossed a combined 5 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Wisconsin took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and increased it to 3-0 in the top of the third.
Peoria answered with four runs in the home third to take the lead. Ian Petrutz and Luis Pino singled. Anyelo Encarnación walked. José Suárez singled to score Petrutz. Jack Gurevitch singled to plate Pino. Josh Kross drove in Encarnación and Suárez on a single.

The Timber Rattlers scored two runs in the fourth to retake the lead at 5-4 and held off Peoria the rest of the way. Peoria loaded the bases in the eighth, but the threat ended when Petrutz hit into a double play.
The Chiefs scored four runs on 11 hits, all singles. Suárez was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Kross was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Petrutz was 2-for-4.
Suárez was caught stealing. Kross made a throwing error. Suárez had an outfield assist at first base.
The Chiefs are 4-5 in the second half.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Wisconsin, Yhoiker Fajardo RHP (1-4, 3.38) vs. TBD (WIS) 6:35 CT.
The Cardinals fell to the Flying Tigers by a 7-1 score on Tuesday. Starter Cade Crossland pitched just 2 1/3 innings, gave up two runs on five hits, walked four and struck out three. Crossland took the loss.
Jesús García relieved Crossland and surrendered one run in two innings. Liam Best hurled 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Antoni Cuello yielded three runs in the seventh. Zeke Wood allowed one run in the eighth.
Lakeland scored single runs in the second, third and fourth to lead 3-0.
Palm Beach scored their only run in the fifth on a solo home run by Heriberto Caraballo.
The Flying Tigers extended their lead to 7-1 with single runs in the seventh and eighth.
The Cardinals scored one run six hits. Caraballo was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Yairo Padilla was 2-for-4.
Ryan Weingartner stole his 23rd base of the season. Miura swiped his 11th bag. Yordalin Peña stole his 16th base. Padilla was picked off and caught stealing.
The Cardinals are 7-3 in the second half.

FCL Cardinals 2 at FCL Marlins 3 (seven innings)
The rookie Cardinals were edged by the Marlins by a 3-2 score on Tuesday.
Starter Gabriel Chinchilla pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up one run on four hits, walked three and struck out three.
Keiverson Ramírez relieved Chinchilla and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Giovanni Vargas surrendered two runs in the sixth and took the loss.
The Cardinals went up 2-0 in the first inning. Miguel Hernández tripled and scored on a passed ball. Kenly Hunter hit a solo home run.
The Marlins scored one run in the third and added two runs in the sixth to win 3-2.
The Cardinals scored two runs on four hits. The offense was 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.
Daniel Rojas was caught stealing. Rojas made a throwing error.
The Cardinals are 13-25 on the season and are in last place in the FCL East.

DSL Cardinals 9 at DSL Marlins 2 (seven innings)
The academy Cardinals beat the Marlins by a 9-2 score on Tuesday morning.
Starter Juan García pitched four innings, gave up two runs on four hits, walked one and struck out three.
Jordan Beltrán relieved García and threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings for the win. Andey Garrido tossed the final 2/3 of a scoreless inning.
The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Yeferson Portolatin doubled and later scored on a single by Luis Estrella.
The Marlins tied the game in the bottom of the inning and took a 2-1 lead in the fourth.
The Cardinals tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth. Jesús Pérez singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Diego Conseción singled to score Pérez.
The Cardinals went up 4-2 in the sixth. Estrella walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Estrella later scored on single by Lucas Takahashi. Pérez came home on a wild pitch.
The Cardinals broke the close game open with five runs in the seventh. Sebastian Rojas singled. Estrella followed with a two-run home run. Michael Cordero walked. Misael Sánchez walked. Pérez blasted a three-run home run.
The Cardinals scored nine runs on nine hits. Perez was 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored. Estrella was 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Portolatin was 2-for-4.
Pérez stole his sixth base of the season. Portolatin was picked off and caught stealing.
Rojas made a throwing error.
The Cardinals are 13-9 on the season and are tied for second place in the DSL Southeast.
