The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 1-1 on Monday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, DSL Cardinals outfielder Yaxson Lucena, tallied three hits including a double and three RBI. Other standouts include Christian Martin, Juan Garcia and Brayan Amoroso. We also set up the upcoming series for the week.

Memphis Redbirds (off-day)
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were off Monday, as they traveled to First Horizon Park in Nashville, Tennessee, to begin a six-game set with the Nashville Sounds on Tuesday. The first three games will be played on the road, with the final three games played at home in AutoZone Park.
Memphis will look to get back on track after winning just two of six from Durham on the road, which snapped their series unbeaten streak at five.
Nathan Church has continued to impress with the bat since joining the Redbirds. The 24-year-old had a two-home run, five RBI game on Saturday, and has recorded at least one hit in 16 of 20 games played at the Triple-A level. The left-handed hitter currently holds a .358 batting average with four home runs and 14 RBI with Memphis.
Mike Antico also hit two home runs in Saturday’s victory.
Curtis Taylor has emerged as one of the Redbirds’ best arms in the rotation. Taylor leads the team in innings pitched at 69 ⅓, with a 3.12 ERA through 11 starts and 18 appearances overall. The right-hander has thrown a complete game.
Memphis is 43-36 overall, and 2-4 in the second half following a 4-2 series loss to Durham. They reside in a five-way tie for third place in the International League West Division, two games back of first.
Tuesday’s game: at Nashville (MIL). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM CT.
Springfield Cardinals (off-day)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were off Monday, as they headed home to Hammons Field to begin a six-game series with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Tuesday. The first three games will be played at home, and the latter three games will be on the road at Arvest Ballpark.
The first-half champion Cardinals will look to return to their prior dominance following a series loss to Wichita and a 2-4 start to the second half.
Top prospect JJ Wetherholt was named to the 2025 National League Futures Game Roster amidst a strong start to his first full professional season. The 22-year-old sports a .305 batting average with five home runs and 27 RBI. The infielder has tallied more walks (41) than strikeouts (35).
Catcher Leonardo Bernal leads the team with 11 home runs and 43 RBI.
Hancel Rincon has impressed since his promotion to Springfield, albeit in a small sample size of four games, three of which were starts. The right-hander sports a 3.10 ERA over 20 ⅓ innings and fanned 33 while issuing eight walks.
Springfield is 45-30 overall, and 2-4 in the second half. They reside in last place in the Texas League North Division but are just two games back of first.
Tuesday’s game: vs. Northwest Arkansas (KC), LHP Brycen Mautz (1-2, 4.35) vs. LHP Hunter Patteson (5-1, 1.91) 7:05 PM CT.
Peoria Chiefs (off-day)
The High-A Peoria Chiefs were off Monday, as they prepared for a six-game set with the South Bend Cubs, starting Tuesday. The first three games will be played at Dozer Park, with the latter three games being played on the road at Four Winds Field.
The Chiefs enter Tuesday coming off a series split with the Beloit Sky Carp at home.
Jon Jon Gazdar has served as a hitting machine for the Chiefs. The 23-year-old has recorded 72 hits in 59 games, for a .299 batting average. Gazdar carries a .370 on-base-percentage.
Recently promoted to Peoria, starting pitcher Jason Savacool has had success in his first three starts at the High-A level. The right-hander holds a 2-0 record with a 2.35 ERA in 15 ⅓ innings pitched.
Peoria is 30-44 overall, 4-5 in the second half, and two games back of first-place Quad Cities in the Midwest League West Division.
Tuesday’s game: vs. South Bend (CHC). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM CT.
Palm Beach Cardinals (off-day)
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals were off Monday, as they headed home to Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium to begin a six-game set with the Jupiter Hammerheads on Tuesday. The Cardinals will serve as the home team for the first three games, and the road team for the latter three contests.
Palm Beach will look to start a winning streak following a series loss to Daytona on the road and a slow start to the second half of the season.
Infielder Cade McGee leads Palm Beach with 41 RBI. Anyelo Encarnacion, Jonathan Mejia, and Yordalin Pena are tied for the team-lead with three triples.
On the mound, Brandt Thompson has tossed the most innings for the team at 69 ⅓ and has a 3.50 ERA. Left-hander Braden Davis leads Palm Beach with 81 strikeouts.
Palm Beach is 34-40 overall, and 2-7 in the second half after winning two of six from Daytona. They reside in last place in the Florida State League East Division.
Tuesday’s game: vs. Jupiter. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 PM CT.
FCL Cardinals 2 at FCL Astros 7
The Florida Complex League Cardinals fell to the FCL Astros on the road on Monday.
Bernard Mack made his fifth career start for the Cardinals. The left-hander pitched three innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on three hits, four walks, and four strikeouts. Mack took the loss.
Giovanni Vargas yielded a run across two innings in relief of Mack. Andrew Bolivar fanned two and allowed a run over three innings.
The Cardinals scored one run in the top of the first inning. Palm Beach rehabber Christian Martin hit a leadoff double and advanced to third base on a Yairo Padilla single. Martin crossed home plate on a Jose Cordoba double-play ball.
The Astros tied the game in the home first, moved in front with a four-run second inning, and added a run in the fifth inning for a 6-1 lead. The Cardinals trimmed the gap with a run in the sixth.
Martin walked and advanced to second base via a wild pitch. Padilla walked. Bracewell Taveras lined a single to bring Martin home and move the Cardinals within four runs at 6-2.
The Astros regained the five-run lead with a run in the eighth. The Cardinals failed to rally.
The FCL Cardinals scored two runs on six hits. Martin was 2-for-3, including a double and two runs scored. Taveras singled and drove in a run.
On the bases, Martin swiped the first bag of his rehab assignment. Yancel Guerrero stole his 11th base and was picked off at first base.
On defense, third baseman Taveras made a throwing error. Pitcher Mack picked a runner off first base.
The FCL Cardinals are 17-21 on the season. They reside in fourth place in the FCL East Division. The Cardinals will head home to the Roger Dean Stadium Complex for a contest with the FCL Mets on Tuesday.

DSL Cardinals 6, DSL Colorado 0
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals blanked DSL Colorado in a home contest on Monday.
Juan Garcia started for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched a career-high five scoreless innings on three hits, no walks, and one strikeout. Garcia picked up his second win.
Jarol Baez tossed two scoreless frames in relief of Garcia. Beiker Rodriguez fanned two across the final two innings to finish the win.
The Cardinals plated the game’s first run in the third inning. Edward Guribe reached on a fielding error and moved to second base. Yaxson Lucena doubled Guribe home.
The Cardinals added a run in the fourth. Brayan Amoroso and Jesus Perez singled. Kenly Hunter grounded into a forceout play, with Perez out at second base, and Hunter and Amoroso to the corners. Miguel Hernandez walked to load the bases. Juan Rujano drew a bases-loaded walk to force Amoroso home and move the Cardinals ahead 2-0.
The Cardinals added a pair of runs in the fifth. Lucena singled and moved to second base via a wild pitch. Amoroso doubled to plate Lucena. Jesus Perez connected for a two-out double to score Amoroso for a 4-0 Cardinals lead.
The Cardinals scored two more insurance runs in the eighth. Hunter was hit by a pitch, and advanced to second on a Hernandez groundout. Rujano lined a double to bring Hunter home to extend the Cardinals’ lead to 5-0. Lucena singled home Rujano to stretch the lead to 6-0.
Cardinals pitching did not allow a hit with runners in scoring position and stranded nine Colorado runners on base in the victory.
The DSL Cardinals scored six runs on nine hits. Lucena was 3-for-5, including a double, a run scored, and three RBI. Amoroso was 2-for-3, including a double, a walk, two runs scored and one RBI. Perez went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, and an RBI. Rujano walked twice, doubled, scored a run and drove in two. The lineup drew more walks (7) than strikeouts (3).
On the basepaths, Hernandez stole his ninth base but was caught stealing third base. Cristofer Lebron swiped his fifth.
The Cardinals did not commit an error.
The DSL Cardinals are 13-8 on the season and are in first place in the DSL Southeast Division by one game. They will play a road contest with the DSL Marlins on Tuesday.
