The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 1-4 on Sunday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Jack Gurevitch, homered as part of a three-hit, two-RBI day as Springfield clinched. Other standouts: Yhoiker Fajardo, Rainiel Rodriguez, Jon Jon Gazdar, Sammy Hernandez, and Dee Kennedy.

Memphis Redbirds 2 at Charlotte Knights 5
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds lost to the Knights in Charlotte in Sunday’s series finale.
Jurrangelo Cijntje started for Memphis. The switch-pitcher threw exclusively right-handed. Cijntje pitched five innings and allowed three runs on seven hits, one walk, and seven strikeouts, taking the loss.
Skylar Hales threw a scoreless sixth. Hancel Rincon yielded two runs and recorded two outs. Jared Shuster secured the final four outs.
Memphis opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second inning. Ramon Mendoza was hit by a pitch and Bligh Madris reached on catcher’s interference. The runners advanced on a groundout. Brody Moore flied into a sacrifice double, though Mendoza crossed home plate before the third out was made.
Charlotte plated three runs in the home second and scored twice in the seventh to take a 5-1 lead.
The Redbirds looked to rally in the ninth. Davis and Moore walked and Noah Mendlinger lined a single to load the bases. Graysen Tarlow brought Davis home on a sacrifice fly, before a double play ended the game.
The Redbirds scored two runs on five hits. Moore walked, singled, and drove in a run. Tarlow recorded an RBI. Dakota Harris doubled. Davis walked, singled, and scored.
On the bases, Victor Scott II stole two bags for 23 steals with the Redbirds. Colton Ledbetter swiped his 25th base.
On defense, catcher Tarlow made a throwing error.
Memphis is 24-33 in the second half and 71-61 overall after the series loss to Charlotte. They reside in ninth place in the International League West Division. The Redbirds are off Monday and will head home to AutoZone Park for a six-game series with the Durham Bulls, starting Tuesday.

Springfield Cardinals 8, San Antonio Missions 6
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals clinched a postseason appearance and took five of six from the San Antonio Missions with an 8-6 win at Route 66 Stadium on Sunday.
Yhoiker Fajardo made his fourth start for Springfield. The right-hander pitched five innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on six hits, two walks, and three strikeouts, earning the win.
Randel Clemente fanned three in a scoreless frame in relief of Fajardo. Joseph King yielded two runs in the seventh. José Davila fired a scoreless eighth. Jack Findlay gave up a run in the ninth but held on to pick up his fourth save.
Springfield struck first with a three-run bottom of the second inning. Jack Gurevitch and Deniel Ortiz singled and Won-Bin Cho walked to load the bases with no outs. Ryan Campos lined a single to bring Gurevitch home.

Josiah Ragsdale ripped a two-out single to score Ortiz and Cho and extend the lead to 3-0.

The Missions tied the game 3-3 in the top of the fifth.
Springfield responded with five runs in the home half of the frame. Jon Jon Gazdar hit his eighth Double-A home run.

Rainiel Rodriguez belted his 20th home run of the year, a solo shot, for a 5-3 lead.

Jesús Báez walked and scored on Gurevitch’s fourth Double-A home run, a two-run blast and the third in the inning to extend the advantage to 7-3.

Ortiz followed with a double and took thirdon a wild pitch. Cho lined a single to plate Ortiz for the fifth run of the inning and an 8-3 Springfield lead.
The Missions came within two runs of Springfield but were unable to overcome the lead as the Cardinals secured a postseason berth.

The Cardinals scored eight runs on 10 hits. Gurevitch was 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI. Ragsdale walked, singled, and drove in two. Gazdar and Rodriguez hit a solo home runs. Cho walked, singled, scored, and notched an RBI. Campos walked twice, singled, and drove in a run. Ortiz was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. The lineup hit .500 (3-for-6) with runners in scoring position.
On the bases, Cho was caught stealing second.
On defense, shortstop Gazdar committed a fielding error. Pitcher Davila made a throwing miscue. Catcher Rodriguez nailed a runner trying to steal second.

Springfield is 38-19 in the second half and 69-56 overall after winning five of six from San Antonio. The Cardinals hold a six-game lead in the Texas League North Division. They are off Monday and will travel to Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, Texas, for a six-game set with the Corpus Christi Hooks, starting Tuesday.

Peoria Chiefs 1 at West Michigan Whitecaps 9
The High-A Peoria Chiefs fell to the West Michigan Whitecaps in Sunday’s road series finale.
Jack Martinez started for the Chiefs. The right-hander pitched 5 ⅔ innings and allowed four runs on four hits, no walks, and seven strikeouts, taking the loss.
Rubén Menes gave up two runs, one earned, while finishing the sixth inning. Dylan Driessen surrendered three runs in the seventh. Patrick Galle threw a shutout eighth frame.
Chiefs pitching set the franchise record for strikeouts in a single season in the contest.

The Whitecaps broke the scoreless tie with two runs in the home fourth.
The Chiefs trimmed the lead in half with a run in the top of the sixth. Sammy Hernandez crushed his 11th home run of the season.

West Michigan added four runs in the home sixth and three in the seventh to pull away 9-1. The Chiefs were unable to answer.
Peoria scored one run on four hits. Hernandez walked and hit a home run. Anyelo Encarnación walked and singled. Andrew Williamson and Ryan Weingartner singled.
On the basepaths. Hernandez was caught stealing second.
On defense, catcher Hernandez made a throwing error.
Peoria is 28-31 in the second half and 60-65 overall after taking four of six from West Michigan. The Chiefs reside in fifth place in the Midwest League West Division. They are off Monday and will head home to Dozer Park for their final series of the season, a six-game set with the Quad Cities River Bandits, starting Tuesday.

Palm Beach Cardinals 3 at Dunedin Blue Jays 4 (Game one, 7 innings)
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals dropped a close first game to the Dunedin Blue Jays in Sunday’s doubleheader.
Ethan Young made his ninth start of the season. The right-hander tossed 1 ⅓ innings and allowed two runs on one hit, two walks, and two strikeouts.
Jaden Alba yielded an unearned run and walked five over 1 ⅔ innings of relief. Yadiel Batista struck out three and gave up the go-ahead run over across three innings, taking the tough loss.
Dunedin scored three runs in the second to move ahead.
The Cardinals tied the game in the top of the sixth. Alexander Frias singled and moved to third on a Dee Kennedy double. Sebastian Dos Santos doubled home Frias and Kennedy. Miguel Hernández lined a single for the fourth consecutive hit to bring Dos Santos home and tie the game at 3-3.
The Blue Jays scored a run in the home sixth to take a 4-3 lead.
In the top of the seventh, Ryan Mitchell singled and Frias walked to put the tying and go-ahead run on base, but both were stranded to end the game.
The Cardinals scored three runs on seven hits. Dos Santos walked, doubled, scored, and collected two RBI. Hernández singled twice and notched an RBI. Kennedy doubled and scored. Frias walked twice, singled, and scored.
On the bases, Mitchell swiped his 39th base of the season. Hernández swiped his fifth bag with Palm Beach.
On defense, shortstop Hernández made a throwing error. Springfield rehabber Travis Honeyman threw a runner out at home plate from left field.
Palm Beach Cardinals 3 at Dunedin Blue Jays 8 (Game two, 7 innings)
The Palm Beach Cardinals were swept in the doubleheader at Dunedin with an 8-3 loss in the second game of Sunday’s twin bill.
Jefferson Moran started his third game for Palm Beach. The right-hander threw 1 ⅔ innings and allowed seven runs on six hits, two walks, and three strikeouts, taking the loss.
Brian Garmon gave up a run over two innings. Nathan Shinn followed with three strikeouts across 1 ⅓ shutout frames. Jesús García tossed a scoreless sixth.
Dunedin scored seven runs in the second and added a run in the third to jump ahead 8-0.
Palm Beach chipped into the gap with a three-run top of the fifth. With two outs, Trevor Haskins was hit by a pitch and Alexander Frias walked. Ryan Mitchell lined a single to score Haskins and put the Cardinals on the board, with Frias to third base. Mitchell stole second. Dee Kennedy lined a single to plate Frias and Mitchell and bring the Cardinals closer at 8-3.
Palm Beach was unable to rally further in the loss.
The Cardinals scored three runs on three hits, all singles. Kennedy tallied a hit and two RBI. Mitchell walked, collected a hit, scored, and drove in a run. Matthew Miura singled.
On the bases, Mitchell stole two bags for 41 on the season. Miura swiped his 22nd base. Kennedy snagged his sixth steal.
On defense, left fielder Miura threw a runner out at second base to highlight an errorless game by the Beach Birds.
Palm Beach is 29-31 in the second half and 62-64 overall following the series loss to Dunedin. They are in second place in the Florida State League East Division, though Daytona has clinched the second-half division title. The Cardinals are off Monday and will head home to Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium for their final series of the season, a six-game set with the Daytona Tortugas.
