The Cardinal Nation’s Players of the Day are the Springfield offense, which scored 14 runs, led by Jack Gurevitch, 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI, Jesús Báez, two doubles and a home run, four RBI and three runs, and Tai Peete, 3-for-4 with three RBI, a steal and three runs. Other standouts include Mason Molina and Ty Van Dyke.

The Triple-A Redbirds blanked the Knights in a rain-shortened six-inning contest in Charlotte on Wednesday.
Starter Mason Molina pitched five scoreless innings, allowed five hits and fanned nine.
Memphis went up 2-0 in the fourth inning. Victor Scott singled. Thomas Saggese walked. Leo Bernal singled. Scott scored on a sac fly by Colton Ledbetter. Ramon Mendoza doubled to plate Saggese. Bernal was thrown out at home.

The offense scored two runs on five hits. Mendoza’s double was the only extra base hit. Saggese walked twice.
Ledbetter was caught stealing.
Memphis is 23-30 in the second half and is 10 games back of the Indianapolis Pirates in the International League.

The Double-A Cardinals walloped the Missions by the score of 14-4 on Wednesday at Route 66 Stadium. It was Springfield’s eighth consecutive win.
Starter Tanner Franklin pitched 5 1/3 innings, gave up two runs on five hits, walked two and fanned five to earn his first win for Springfield.
Chen-Wei Lin relieved Franklin and surrendered two runs in 3 2/3 innings to earn his first save.
Springfield took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Tai Peete singled and stole second base. Jack Gurevitch doubled to score Peete.
San Antonio tied the game in the top of the second.
The Cardinals answered in the home second to take a 2-1 lead. Won-Bin Cho doubled. Ryan Campos and Tre Richardson walked. Jon Jon Gazdar grounded into a force as Cho was out at home. Peete drove in Campos on a single.
Springfield added four runs in the fourth to increase the lead to 6-1. Richardson doubled. Peete walked. Richardson came home on a ground out by Rainiel Rodriguez. Peete advanced to third on a wild pitch. Jesús Báez plated Peete on a double. Gurevitch followed with a two-run home run.

The Missions added a run in the fifth to cut the lead to 6-2.
The Cardinals put up three runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 9-2. Báez doubled and Gurevitch hit his second two-run home run.

San Antonio scored a run in the top of the seventh to make it 9-3.
Springfield posted a three-run bottom frame to widen the lead to 12-3. Peete and Rodriguez walked. Báez blasted a three-run home run.

In the top of the eighth, the Missions scored one run to shrink the lead to 12-4.
The Cardinals responded with two more runs for the final score of 14-4. Cho walked. Richardson singled. Gazdar walked. Peete singled to plate Cho and Richardson.
The Cardinals scored 14 runs on 13 hits. Gurevitch was 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI. Báez was 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored. Peete was 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored. Richardson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Peete stole his third base. Ortiz swiped his seventh bag. Richardson stole his 18th base.
Springfield is 35-18 in the second half and is in first place in the Texas League North.
Thursday’s game: vs. San Antonio, Daniel Eagen RHP (6-10, 4.68) vs. Victor Lizarraga RHP (3-8, 6.69) 6:35 CT.
The High-A Chiefs edged the Whitecaps in a 5-4 road win on Wednesday.
Starter Ty Van Dyke pitched five innings, gave up one run on three hits, walked three and fanned a career-high and team-best 11.

Gerardo Salas relieved Van Dyke and threw a scoreless sixth. Ruben Menes surrendered two runs in two innings but received the win. Trey Pooser yielded one run in the ninth and received his first save.
West Michigan took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Peoria tied the game in the sixth on a solo home run by Cade McGee.

The Whitecaps took back the lead at 2-1 with a run in the seventh.
In the top of the eighth, the Chiefs put up four runs to take a 5-2 lead. Ian Petrutz singled and stole second. McGee reached on an error. Anyelo Encarnación singled to plate Petrutz and McGee. Andrew Williamson followed with a two-run home run.

Peoria needed all four runs to get the final six outs. West Michigan added a run in the bottom of the eighth and one in the ninth to bring the final score to 5-4.
Peoria scored five runs on eight hits. Encarnación was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Williamson had two RBI.
Petrutz stole his eighth base. Encarnación was picked off and caught stealing.
Encarnación made a throwing error. McGee had a passed ball.
The Chiefs are 26-29 in the second half and are in fifth place in the Midwest League West.

The Class-A Cardinals defeated the Blue Jays in Dunedin by the score of 5-3 on Wednesday.
Starter Gabriel Chinchilla pitched four innings, gave up one run on one hit, walked three and fanned eight.
Jesús García relieved Chinchilla and surrendered two runs in 2 1/3 innings but received the win. Nathan Shinn threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Yadiel Batista tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his first save.
Palm Beach went ahead 2-0 in the first inning. Dee Kennedy walked and stole second. Trevor Condon walked. Alexander Frias singled to score Kennedy. Condon came home on a ground out by Sebastian Dos Santos.
In the top of the second, the Cardinals increased the lead to 3-0. Gabe Camacho doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Kennedy walked. Condon grounded into a force out and Camacho came home.
Dunedin put up a run in the home second to cut the lead to 3-1. The Beach Birds answered with a run in the third to extend the lead to 4-1. Miguel Hernández and Matthew Miura walked. Camacho drove in Hernández on a single.
The Cardinals made it 5-1 in the fourth. Kennedy reached on an error. Condon singled. Kennedy later scored on a ground out by Frias.
The Blue Jays added single runs the fifth and sixth to cut the lead to 5-3 but did not score again.
The Cardinals scored five runs on four hits. Camacho was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Frias had two RBI. Kennedy scored two runs.
Kennedy stole his fifth base. Frias swiped his fifth bag. Hernández stole his fourth base.
The Cardinals are 28-28 in the second half and are in second place in the Florida State League East, six games back of Daytona.
