Cardinals Minor League Notebook – August 22, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 4-0 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Peoria 2B Anyelo Encarnacion, went 4-for-4 including two doubles, a triple and three runs scored. Other standouts include Daniel Eagen, Rainiel Rodriguez, Andrew Williamson, Alexander Frias and Sebastian Dos Santos.

Memphis 4, Jacksonville 2

The Triple-A Redbirds defeated the Jumbo Shrimp by a 4-2 score at AutoZone Park on Friday.

Starter Brandt Thompson pitched five innings, gave up two runs on five hits, walked three and fanned seven to earn his third Memphis win.

Brycen Mautz relieved Thompson and threw a scoreless sixth. Back after one day on the Development List, Austin Love hurled 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Ryan Murphy tossed the final 1 2/3 scoreless innings to earn his first save.

Jacksonville scored single runs in the second and third innings to lead 2-0.

Memphis answered with a run in the home third. Brody Moore doubled, stole third base and scored on a throwing error.

The Redbirds added two runs in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead. Victor Scott walked and stole second base. Colton Ledbetter singled to score Scott. César Prieto doubled to plate Ledbetter.

Memphis scored an insurance run in the seventh and went on to win the game 4-2. Scott singled and went to second on a wild pitch. Ramón Urias singled to drive in Scott.

The offense scored four runs on nine hits as every hitter in the lineup had one. Scott scored two runs.

Moore stole his 12th base. Scott swiped his 18th bag.

Andy Yerzy made a throwing error.

Memphis is 21-28 in the second half and is nine games back of the Indianapolis Pirates in the International League.

Saturday’s game: vs. Jacksonville, Cooper Hjerpe LHP (0-0, 0.79) vs. Carson Milbrandt RHP (0-5, 7.65) 6:35 CT.

Springfield 5 at Arkansas 3

The Double-A Cardinals secured a 5-3 road win in Little Rock on Friday.

Starter Daniel Eagen pitched 6 1/3 innings, gave up three runs on four hits and fanned 10 to earn his sixth win of 2026, first in three starts since joining Springfield.

Randel Clemente relieved Eagen and finished the seventh with two strikeouts. Dominic Picone threw a scoreless eighth. Andrew Schultz tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his second save.

The Cardinals went ahead 2-0 in the first inning. Josiah Ragsdale and Rainiel Rodriguez singled. Deniel Ortiz doubled to plate Ragsdale and Rodriguez.

Springfield added two runs in the fourth to increase the lead to 4-0. Won-Bin Cho singled and Zach Levenson followed with a two-run home run.

Arkansas put up three runs in the fifth to cut the lead to 4-3.

The Cardinals rallied for one more run in the ninth to win 5-3. Ragsdale tripled and scored on a single by Rodriguez.

The Cardinals scored five runs on 10 hits. Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Ortiz and Levenson each had two RBI. Ragsdale was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Ryan Campos was caught stealing.

Springfield is 31-18 in the second half and is in first place in the Texas League North

Saturday’s game: at Arkansas, Braden Davis LHP (1-5, 5.01) vs. Ryan Sloan RHP (3-3, 3.75) 6:05 CT.

Peoria 7 at Lansing 4

The High-A Chiefs earned a 7-4 road win over the Lugnuts on Friday, breaking their season-high six-game losing streak.

Starter Brandon Clarke pitched 2 1/3 innings, gave up one run on no hits, walked five and fanned six.

Nelfy Ynfante relieved Clarke and threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Ruben Menes relinquished three runs in two innings. Christian Worley tossed the final two scoreless innings to earn his third save.

Peoria went up 2-0 in the top of the first inning. Andrew Williamson hit a solo home run, his first long ball as a professional. Brayden Smith walked and stole second. Sammy Hernandez walked. Tristan Bissetta singled to score Smith.

Lansing answered with a run in the home first.

The Chiefs scored one run in the fourth to increase the lead to 3-1. Anyelo Encarnación doubled. Ryan Weingartner singled. Encarnación came home on a sac fly by Williamson.

Peoria added a run in the fifth to extend the lead to 4-1. Hernandez doubled and stole third base. Jalin Flores drove in Hernandez on a single.

In the top of the sixth, the Chiefs added a run for a 5-1 lead. Encarnación tripled and scored on a double by Weingartner.

The Lugnuts answered with three runs in the home sixth to shrink the gap to 5-4.

Peoria put up two insurance runs in the eighth for the final score of 7-4. Michael Dattalo doubled and scored on a triple by Encarnación. The latter scored on a double by Williamson.

The Chiefs scored seven runs on 14 hits. Williamson was 3-for-4 including a home run and three RBI. Encarnación was 4-for-4, including two doubles and a triple with an RBI and three runs scored. Bissetta was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Weingartner was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Smith stole his third base. Hernandez swiped his 19th base.

Hernandez had a passed ball.

The Chiefs are 24-27 in the second half and are in fifth place in the Midwest League West.

Saturday’s game: at Lansing, Jacob Odle RHP (2-3, 4.59) vs. Jorge Marcheco RHP (1-2, 3.86) 6:05 CT.

Palm Beach 7, Fort Myers 6

The Class-A Cardinals edged the Mighty Mussels, 7-6, in a back-and-forth game on Friday at Roger Dean Stadium.

Starter Jan Cabrera pitched four innings, gave up four runs, three earned, on four hits, walked four and struck out three.

Jaden Alba relieved Cabrera and surrendered two runs in three innings. Brian Garmon tossed the final two scoreless innings to earn the win.

Palm Beach went up 2-0 in the first inning. Ryan Mitchell singled and Sebastian Dos Santos homered.

Fort Myers cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the second.

The Beach Birds answered with a run in the home second to increase their lead to 3-1. Gabe Camacho singled. J.P. Cabrera doubled. Mitchell reached on an error and Camacho scored.

The Mighty Mussels put up three runs in the third to go ahead 4-3.

The Cardinals tied the game in the fourth. Trevor Haskins singled, stole second base and advanced to third on an error. Haskins scored on a double by Mitchell.

Fort Myers regained the lead 5-4 in the fifth.

Palm Beach tied it a second time with a run in the sixth. Cabrera walked. Mitchell singled, sending Cabrera to third. Cabrera came home on a sac fly by Dos Santos.

The Mighty Mussels went up 6-5 in the seventh.

The Cardinals responded with two runs in the eighth to take the lead 7-6, a lead they did not relinquish. Cabrera singled. Dos Santos walked. Alexander Frias doubled to plate Cabrera and Dos Santos for the winning margin.

The Cardinals scored seven runs on 10 hits. Frias was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Mitchell was 3-for-5 with an RBI.  Dos Santos had three RBI and two runs scored. Cabrera was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Miguel Hernández stole this third base. Haskins swiped his 21st bag. Dee Kennedy stole his second base. Frias was picked off first base.

Hernández made a throwing error. Alba picked a runner off first base.

The Cardinals are 25-26 in the second half and are in second place in the Florida State League East, seven games back of Daytona.
