The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-3 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach 3B Jalin Flores, singled, walked and hit a two-run walk-off home run. Other standouts include Jimmy Crooks, Joshua Baez, Zach Levenson, Deniel Ortiz and Christian Martin.

The Triple-A Redbirds lost to the Stripers by four runs at AutoZone Park on Wednesday. Starter Max Rajcic pitched six innings, gave up seven runs, four earned, on nine hits, struck out one and walked one. Rajcic took the loss.
Oddanier Mosqueda relieved Rajcic and threw a scoreless seventh. Chris Roycroft surrendered one unearned run in the eighth. Gordon Graceffo tossed a scoreless ninth.
Gwinnett went up 5-0 in the first inning and added a run in the top of the third.
Memphis scored a run in the home third to cut the lead to 6-1. Mike Antico walked. Jimmy Crooks singled. Blaze Jordan singled and Antico came home.

The Stripers increased their lead to 7-1 in the sixth. The Redbird shrunk the lead to 7-3 in the seventh. Antico singled. Bryan Torres walked. Crooks doubled to plate Antico. Torres came home on a sac fly by Jordan.

Gwinnett extended their lead to 8-3 in the eighth. Memphis scored one run in the ninth to bring the final score to 8-4. Crooks doubled and later scored on a ground out by César Prieto.
The offense scored four runs on 11 hits. Crooks was 4-for-5 with an RBI. Andy Yerzy was 2-for-4. Jordan had two RBI. Antico scored two runs.
Michael Siani stole his 17th base of the season. On defense, third baseman JJ Wetherholt made a throwing error. Antico and Torres both had fielding miscues.
Memphis is 64-56 overall, 21-23 in the second half. They are 9.5 games back of Scranton in the IL.
Thursday’s game: vs. Gwinnett, RHP Ian Bedell (0-5, 8.06) vs. JR Ritchie RHP (2-0, 3.21) 6:45 CT.
The Double-A Cardinals lost to the Travelers by 10-6 score on Wednesday. Starter Brycen Mautz pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up five runs on five hits, fanned five and walked one. Mautz took the loss.
Zane Mills relieved Mautz and surrendered two runs in 1 1/3 innings. Leonardo Taveras threw two scoreless innings. Austin Love yielded three insurance runs in the eighth.
Springfield went up in the top of the fourth inning on a two-run home run by Joshua Baez. Arkansas answered with a six-run bottom of the inning to take the lead 6-2.

After the Travelers added a run in the fifth, the Cardinals responded with a four-run sixth to cut Arkansas’ lead to 7-6. Chase Davis walked. Jeremy Rivas grounded into a force out, eliminating Davis. Rivas advanced to second on a throwing error. Leonardo Bernal walked. Baez singled to score Rivas. Zach Levenson followed with a three-run home run.

Arkansas extended their lead to 10-6 in the eighth. Springfield failed to answer.
The Cardinals scored six runs on seven hits. Baez was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Levenson had three RBI. Rivas scored two runs.
Baez was picked off first base.
Springfield is 73-43 overall, 30-17 in the second half. The Cardinals are in first place in the Texas League North by two games over Tulsa.
Thursday’s game: at Arkansas, Cade Winquest RHP (2-1, 2.93) vs. Marcelo Perez RHP (2-3, 4.24) 6:35 CT.
The High-A Chiefs fell to the Dragons by a 2-1 score on Wednesday. Starter Mason Molina pitched four innings, gave up two runs, one earned, on five hits, fanned six and walked three. Molina took the loss.
Dominic Picone relieved Molina and threw two scoreless innings. Jack Findlay hurled a scoreless seventh. Mason Burns tossed a scoreless eighth.
Dayton scored single runs in the first and second to lead 2-0.
Peoria scored their only run in the sixth inning. Jose Cordoba doubled and later came home on a single by Travis Honeyman.
The Chiefs scored one run on nine hits. Deniel Ortiz went 4-for-4, including a double but was unable to score. The offense was 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.
Won-Bin Cho stole his 18th base of the season. On defense, Chase Adkison made a throwing error.
Peoria is 44-70 overall, 18-31 in the second half, and is fifth place in the Midwest League West, nine games back of Beloit.
Thursday’s game: at Dayton, Chen-Wei Lin RHP (0-2, 5.09) vs. Jose Montero RHP (5-5, 4.55) 6:05 CT.
Palm Beach 11, St. Lucie 9 (10 innings)
The Low-A Cardinals beat the Mets in 10 innings on Wednesday. Starter Andrew Dutkanych pitched three innings, gave up two runs on two hits, struck out three and walked one.
Yadiel Batista relieved Dutkanych and surrendered six runs in 4 1/3 innings. Edwin Nuñez yielded one run in 1 2/3 innings. Sam Brodersen tossed a scoreless 10th to earn the win.
The Mets went up 2-0 in the second inning. The Beach Birds answered in the third with a solo home run by Matthew Miura to cut the lead in half.
St. Lucie added three runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to make it 7-1.
Palm Beach scored a run in the home fifth. Miura and Christian Martin walked. Jalin Flores singled to score Miura.
In the sixth, the Cardinals added two runs to lessen the gap to 7-4. Ryan Weingartner walked. Yordalin Pena singled. Miura walked. Martin reached on a fielder’s choice with an error as Weingartner and Pena came home.
Palm Beach made it 7-5 in the seventh. Jose Suarez singled and stole second base. Weingartner walked. Sammy Hernandez plated Suarez on a single.
The Mets extended their lead to 9-5 in the eighth. The Cardinals rallied in the ninth and put up four runs to tie the game. Flores and Suarez walked. Flores advanced to third on a fly out and scored on a passed ball. Hernandez drove in Suarez on a double. Miura walked. Martin plated Hernandez and Miura on a double.
As the game went into the 10th inning. St. Lucie failed to score. In the bottom of the 10th, Rainiel Rodriguez started on second base. Flores hit a two-run home run to walk it off for the Cardinals.

The offense scored 11 runs on nine hits. Flores was 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Hernandez was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Suarez was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Martin had three RBI. Leadoff man Miura drew three walks, homered and scored three times.
Suarez stole two bases. Martin swiped his 20th bag. Weingartner was caught stealing.
On defense, Suarez had an outfield assist at second base. Dutkanych and Batista both picked a runner off first base.
Palm Beach is 56-58 on the season, 24-25 in the second half, and is in third place in the FSL East 9.5 games back of St. Lucie.
