The only Monday game in the St. Louis Cardinals system was a shutout loss in the Dominican Summer League. TCN’s Player of the Day Jesus Garcia tossed five scoreless innings on three hits, two walks and with five strikeouts. All five clubs’ standings are recapped and the coming week’s series are previewed.

Memphis – off
Memphis (21-24) had a rough series at Jacksonville (23-20) (MIA) last week, winning two and losing four. Those results leave the Redbirds in seventh place in the West Division of the International League, 8 ½ games behind Columbus (CLE).
The Triple-A Redbirds are home this coming week, squaring off against sixth place (East Division) Charlotte (CWS).
Tuesday’s game: vs. Charlotte (21-22), 6:45 pm CT, TBD
Springfield – off
The S-Cards (28-17) were in Texas last week to take on Frisco (24-21) (TEX), the South Division’s second-place squad. First-place Springfield took five of six contests, expanding their lead in the North Division of the Texas League from one to two games over Arkansas (SEA).
This week the S-Cards are home at Hammons Field versus fourth-place Tulsa (LAD) whom they lead by 5 ½ games.
Tuesday’s game: vs. Tulsa (22-22), 6:35 pm CT, Brandon Komar (6-1, 2.24)
Peoria – off
Peoria (24-24) had a tough assignment last week when they played at first-place Wisconsin (28-19) ((MIL). The Chiefs came away with a split of their six-game series and are tied with Cedar Rapids (MIN) for third place in the West Division standings of the Midwest League. Both squads trail Wisconsin by 4 ½ games.
The Chiefs host sixth place (East Division) Fort Wayne (SD) this week.
Tuesday’s game: vs. Fort Wayne (17-31), 6:35 pm CT, TBD
Palm Beach – off
First-place Palm Beach (32-14) split their six-game home set against ‘roommate’ and third-place Jupiter (23-23) (MIA) but expanded their lead in the East Division of the Florida State League from 6 ½ to 7 ½ games over second-place Daytona (CIN) while remaining nine games ahead of Jupiter.
The Beach Birds head to fourth-place St. Lucie (NYM) this week, a team they lead by 15 games.
Tuesday’s game: at St. Lucie (17-29), 6:10 pm ET/5:10 pm CT, TBD
DSL Cardinals 0 vs. DSL Arizona Red 3
The fifth-place DSL Cardinals were shut out for the second straight game, losing on Monday to the third-place DSL Arizona Red (35-20), 3-0, in the home finale. The outcome of Tuesday’s season finale at the DSL Rockies will determine whether the Cardinals have a winning (27-26) or losing season (26-27).
Keiverson Ramirez (L, 4-2) yielded three runs, two earned, on two hits and two walks in three innings on the mound. The staff ace surrendered a solo shot in the second, followed the next frame by an RBI double and run scoring 6-3 ground out. Both runners crossing home plate reached base via walks. Ramirez fanned four and recorded five ground- to zero fly-ball outs.
The latter of the two third-inning tallies was unearned due to a throwing error by left fielder Yaxson Lucena which allowed the base runner to take third, putting him in position to score on the subsequent 6-3 ground out. Shortstop Daniel Rojas committed a fielding error, his 12th bobble overall.
Rookie reliever Jesus Garcia tossed his longest and best effort of his nascent career, striking out five in four frames while blanking the opposition on three hits and two walks. Jarol Baez recorded the last six outs, issuing one free pass.
The depleted Cardinals offense mustered just two hits, both singles. Catcher Juan Pablo Cabrera and second baseman Cristofer Lebron each went 1-for-3, batting seventh and ninth, respectively. Center fielder Facundo Velasquez worked one of the free passes issued by Arizona Red hurlers and Rojas drew the other walk.
Tuesday’s game: at third place (South Division) DSL Rockies (36-18), 11:00 am ET/10:00 am CT, Andrew Bolivar (0-0, 3.92)
