The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 2-2 on Sunday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Peoria catcher Ryan Campos, slugged a go-ahead two-run home run in the 10th inning. Other standouts include Curtis Taylor, José Fermín, Bryan Torres, Won-Bin Cho, Mason Burns and Bernard Mack.

Memphis Redbirds 6 at Charlotte Knights 3
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds won the series finale in Charlotte over the Knights on Sunday.
Curtis Taylor started his 19th game for the Redbirds this season. The right-hander pitched five innings and allowed one run on three hits, two walks, and three strikeouts. Taylor collected his eighth win.
Left-hander Oddanier Mosqueda tossed a scoreless sixth inning. Skylar Hales threw a shutout seventh. Nick Raquet yielded a run in the eighth but held the lead. Gordon Graceffo gave up a run in the ninth, though he finished the game.
The Redbirds struck early with a two-run top of the first. JJ Wetherholt hit a lead-off single and scored on José Fermín’s seventh home run of 2025, a two-run blast.

Charlotte split the lead in half in the home first.
Memphis responded with a pair of runs in the second frame. Gavin Collins walked and Bryan Torres crushed his sixth home run of the year.

The Knights plated a run in the eighth to move within two.
The Redbirds added a pair of insurance runs in the ninth to seal the win. Fermín walked and advanced on a wild pitch. Jimmy Crooks cranked out the third two-run home run for the Redbirds, his 13th of the season and extending the lead to 6-2.

Memphis never trailed in the victory.
The Redbirds scored six runs on 10 hits. Fermín drew two walks, hit a two-run home run and scored twice. Torres was 2-for-4 with a two-run home run. Crooks blasted a two-run home run. Wetherholt was 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored.
Collins swiped two bags for 10 steals on the season. César Prieto stole his 10th. Wetherholt was caught stealing second base.
On defense, the Redbirds turned two double plays in an errorless performance.
Memphis is 64-54 overall, and 23-22 in the second half. They reside in third place in the International League West Division, nine games out of first place. The Redbirds will head home to AutoZone Park for a six-game set with the Gwinnett Stripers, beginning Tuesday.
Tuesday’s game: vs. Gwinnett (ATL), Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 PM CT.
Springfield Cardinals 4, Wichita Wind Surge 7
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals fell to the Wichita Wind Surge at Hammons Field in Sunday’s series finale.
In a bullpen game instead of Brandt Thompson’s turn, Tyler Bradt made his second career start and his first at the Double-A level. The right-hander threw two scoreless innings on one hit, three walks, and one strikeout.
Austin Love fired two shutout frames with a pair of strikeouts. In an oddity, the next three relievers each took a blown save. Randel Clemente yielded two runs in one inning. Ricardo Velez fanned three and gave up a run across 2 ⅓ innings. Luis Gastelum surrendered the final four Wichita runs across 1 ⅔ innings and took the loss.
The Cardinals broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning. Leonardo Bernal and Joshua Baez singled and Zach Levenson walked to load the bases. Bernal crossed home plate on a Jeremy Rivas double play ball.
Wichita grabbed a 2-1 lead with a two-run top of the fifth.
Springfield immediately regained the lead with their own two-run fifth. Brody Moore blooped a single. Noah Mendlinger reached on a fielder’s choice, with Moore to second on a throwing error. Miguel Ugueto reached on a throwing error, with Mendlinger to third and Moore home. Bernal grounded into a double play as Mendlinger crossed home plate to put the Cardinals in front 3-2.
The Wind Surge tied the game at three in the sixth.
The Cardinals reclaimed the lead once more in the home sixth. Baez singled, moved to second on a bunt groundout from Rivas and used his speed to score on an infield single by Dakota Harris for a 4-3 Cardinals lead.

Wichita rallied for four runs in the ninth against Gastelum to move ahead 7-4. Springfield was unable to answer.
The Cardinals scored four runs on just five hits, all singles. Baez was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Harris singled and drove in a run. Bernal singled, scored a run, and drove in a run. The lineup was just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
The Cardinals did not steal a base. Ugueto showed his impressive range in center field with a long running catch in the second inning to highlight an errorless game for Springfield.

Springfield is 72-42 overall, and 29-16 in the second half following the series split with Wichita. They hold a two-game lead in the Texas League North Division. The Cardinals will travel to Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock, Arkansas, for a six-game set with the Arkansas Travelers, starting Tuesday.

Peoria Chiefs 7 at Lake County Captains 5 (10 innings)
The High-A Peoria Chiefs staged a late comeback to snap their six-game losing skid and take Sunday’s series finale at the Lake County Captains.
Jose Davila made his 20th start for Peoria. The right-hander pitched four innings and allowed three runs on six hits, no walks, and four strikeouts.
Jason Savacool yielded two runs with a pair of strikeouts across three innings in relief. Mason Burns threw the final three innings without allowing a run and picked up his second win with the Chiefs. Burns lowered his ERA at the High-A level to 1.89.
The Captains scored once in the bottom of the first.
Peoria tied the game in the top of the second. Deniel Ortiz doubled and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Andrew Sojka. Won-Bin Cho ripped a single to score Ortiz.

Lake County plated single runs in the second and fourth innings to move ahead 3-1.
Peoria moved within a run in the fifth. Ryan Campos walked and stole second base. Josh Kross drove an RBI double into the gap to move the Chiefs closer at 3-2.

Lake County extended its lead to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the home fifth.
Peoria trimmed the lead to two with a run in the eighth. Sojka walked and moved to second on an Ian Petrutz single. Jon Jon Gazdar hit a ground ball single to bring Sojka home.

Down to their final three outs, the Chiefs tied the game again. Travis Honeyman walked and moved to second on a single from Sojka. Petrutz walked to load the bases. Cho connected for a single to plate Honeyman and Sojka.

Peoria kept Lake County off the board in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings.
The Chiefs grabbed their first lead of the game in the top of the 10th inning. Gazdar began the inning at second base and advanced to third on a Jesus Baez flyout. Campos scored Gazdar with his second career home run, a two-run shot, to put the Chiefs in front 7-5.

The Chiefs tallied five hits with runners in scoring position in the comeback win.
The Chiefs scored seven runs on 13 hits. Cho was 3-for-5 with three RBI. Campos scored twice and drove in two on the go-ahead home run. Ortiz was 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Gazdar singled twice, walked twice, scored a run, and drove in a run. Honeyman drew three walks, scored a run, and singled.
On the bases, Campos swiped his 10th bag of the season. Honeyman stole his second base with the Chiefs. Ortiz was caught stealing second base.
On defense, left fielder Petrutz committed a fielding error.
Peoria is 44-68 overall, and 18-29 in the second half after dropping five of six in Lake County. They reside in fifth place in the six-team Midwest League West Division. The Chiefs will continue their road trip at Day Air Ballpark in Dayton, Ohio, for a six-game series with the Dayton Dragons, starting Tuesday.

Palm Beach Cardinals 2, Bradenton Marauders 3 (10 innings)
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals dropped a close extra-innings contest to the Bradenton Marauders at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Sunday’s series finale.
In his Single-A debut, Bernard Mack started for Palm Beach. The left-hander fired three shutout innings on two hits, four walks, and four strikeouts.
Yordy Herrera fanned two and yielded a run across two innings in relief. Aaron Holiday allowed an unearned run over 2 ⅓ innings and was tagged with a blown save. Edwin Nuñez tossed a scoreless ninth inning with a pair of strikeouts. Sam Brodersen surrendered the go-ahead unearned run in the 10th, taking the loss.
The Cardinals scored the inaugural run of the game in the fourth inning. Jalin Flores and Christian Martin singled. Jose Suarez reached first base on a forceout to load the bases. Flores crossed home plate on a sacrifice fly from Ryan Weingartner, his first professional RBI.
Palm Beach doubled the lead in the fifth. Chase Heath singled and stole second. Rainiel Rodriguez singled to bring Heath home.
Bradenton plated single runs in the sixth and eighth innings to tie the game at two. The Cardinals left the winning run at third base in the bottom of the ninth to send the contest into extra innings. The Marauders took a 3-2 lead in the 10th. Palm Beach failed to answer.
The Cardinals scored two runs on eight hits, all singles. Flores was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Rodriguez recorded an RBI single. Suarez tallied two hits. Weingartner drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Neither team recorded an extra-base hit.
On the bases, Matthew Miura swiped his sixth bag and was picked off second base. Heath stole his first career base. Suarez was caught stealing second base.
On defense, left fielder Christian Martin committed a fielding error. Catcher Heath made a throwing error. Suarez nailed a runner at home plate from right field. Pitcher Brodersen picked a runner off first base.
Palm Beach is 55-57 overall, and 23-24 in the second half following the series split with Bradenton. They reside in third place in the Florida State League East Division. The Cardinals will continue their homestand with a six-game series against the first-place St. Lucie Mets on Tuesday.
Tuesday’s game: vs. St. Lucie (NYM). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 PM CT.
DSL Cardinals (off-day)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals were off Sunday, as they prepared for a road contest with the DSL Phillies White on Monday. Tuesday will mark their 2025 season finale.
The Cardinals enter Monday following an 8-0 shutout of the DSL Marlins on Saturday.
The DSL Cardinals are 28-26 on the season. They reside in third place in the DSL Southeast Division, five games behind the Marlins.
Monday’s game: at DSL Phillies White. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 AM CT.
