The St. Louis Cardinals system went 3-2 on Thursday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of Day, Masyn Winn, earned a promotion to St. Louis after a 3-for-4 performance including a home run and two runs scored. Other standouts include L.J. Jones, Zach Levenson and Hunter Hayes.

The Memphis Redbirds (20-22) topped the Norfolk Tides (BAL, 21-21) at AutoZone Park on Thursday night.
In the second phase of his rehab assignment from St. Louis, Jake Woodford tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings, 40 pitches, with three strikeouts. Chris Roycroft earned his third Triple-A win after 1 1/3 scoreless frames.
Chase Pinder brought a run across in the second inning via single. Masyn Winn blasted a solo home run in the third, his 18th of the season. The Redbirds scored three runs in the fifth. César Prieto doubled home Winn to make the score 3-0. Nick Dunn doubled to plate one and Juniel Querecuto scored one with a sacrifice fly. Matt Koperniak made the score 6-2 in the eighth with a single.

Adam Kloffenstein yielded two runs in five innings on four hits and five walks. TCN’s no. 21 prospect fanned five. Jacob Barnes threw a hitless ninth inning with one punchout.
Winn was 3-for-4 with a homer and two runs scored in his last game before his St. Louis call up. TCN’s no. 1 prospect slashed .359/.427/.750/1.177 in July and had a four-hit earlier this month.

The lineup recorded 12 hits and two walks. Prieto and Pinder both had two hits. Memphis only struck out five times in the contest.
On the base paths, Prieto, Querecuto and Koperniak all stole a bag. In the field, Kramer Robertson committed a throwing error.

Springfield 6 at Wichita 7 (10 innings)
The Springfield Cardinals (20-21) were walked off by the Wichita Wind Surge (MIN, 21-20) on Thursday at Riverfront Stadium.
Starter Brandon Komar pitched 5 2/3 innings and was charged with two runs. The right-hander yielded five hits, three walks and one strikeout. Logan Sawyer surrendered a run in 1 1/3 frames.
The Cardinals put up three runs in the second inning. L.J. Jones singled to plate one and Victor Scott brought home two with a single. Jones doubled in the fifth to make the score 5-2. In the eighth, Jones reached on an error and one run came home to extend their lead to 6-3.
Ryan Shreve recorded a scoreless eighth inning. In the ninth, Andre Granillo gave up three runs in 2/3 of an inning to tie the score. Nick Trogrlic-Iverson took his third loss after he was touched for an unearned run in the 10th inning.
Jones was 3-for-4 with a double, two singles, two RBI and a run scored. Scott was 2-for-6 with three RBI. Thomas Saggese and Arquímedes Gamboa both walked twice. The lineup went 4-for-16 with runners in scoring position and left 11 runners on base.
Scott and Gamboa both stole a base. Jose Alvarez recorded an outfield assist and Wade Stauss had a passed ball.

Peoria at Lake County – Postponed
Due to rain in the Lake County area, the Peoria Chiefs (25-19) and Lake County Captains (CLE, 21-21) game has been postponed to Saturday.

Palm Beach 6, Fort Myers 5 (10 innings, completion of 8/16 game)
The Palm Beach Cardinals (20-22) walked off the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (MIN, 19-25) in the completion of Wednesday’s game that was suspended by rain in the fifth inning.
Benjamin Arias yielded four runs, two earned, in four innings. The 21-year-old struck out four.
After Fort Myers made it 3-0 in the second, the Beach Birds responded with four runs in the home half to make the score 4-3. Zach Levenson drove in two with a triple and Kade Kretzschmar tied the game with a single. Chase Davis scored one with a sacrifice fly. The Mussels tied the game in the fourth but Levenson gave Palm Beach the lead back with a single in the bottom half.
Out of the bullpen, Henry Gomez tossed two innings and gave up one run with one punchout. Hunter Hayes pitched the remaining four innings and did not surrender a run. The right-hander struck out three and earned his third win.
When play resumed on Thursday, the Mussels tied the game again in the fifth inning. There was another delay in the eighth inning as the game was interrupted by thunder and lightning.
With the tie remaining following the ninth, the contest went into extra innings. In the top of the 10th, catcher Sammy Hernandez tagged out the potential lead runner at the plate. In the home half, Brayden Jobert started on second base and advanced to third on a groundout. Hernandez brought him home with a single to win the game.
Levenson went 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBI and a run scored. Joshua Baez, William Sullivan and Michael Curialle all recorded two hits. The lineup was 4-for-15 with runners in scoring position.
Tre Richardson stole his fourth base of the year. Curialle committed a fielding error.
Palm Beach 6, Fort Myers 5 (7 innings, Game 2)
The Palm Beach Cardinals (21-22) edged the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (MIN, 19-26) at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in Game 2 of the doubleheader. The 6-5 score was identical to the opener.
Starter Jose Davila pitched four innings and gave up five runs on eight hits and one walk. The 20-year-old struck out three.
Palm Beach put up two runs in the fourth after they were down 3-0. Dakota Harris grounded into a forceout but two runs came across after a throwing error. Fort Myers plated two runs in the fifth.
In relief, Augusto Calderon recorded three scoreless innings to earn his second win of 2023.
The Beach Birds took the lead in the sixth with four runs. Graysen Tarlow doubled to bring one across. To tie the game, Harris singled and two runs came home after another throwing error. Lizandro Espinoza gave Palm Beach the lead with an RBI single.
In the seven-inning contest, Kade Kretzschmar went 2-for-3 including a double and two runs scored. Harris drove in three runs with two hits and a run. The lineup went 3-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
Harris took his second bag of the year. The defense turned three double plays in seven innings.

FCL Cardinals at FCL Nationals (canceled)
Due to wet field conditions at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, the Florida Complex League Cardinals (17-30) and Nationals (23-23) contest was canceled. With the season entering its final days, the game will not be rescheduled.
Friday’s game: vs. FCL Marlins, TBA vs. TBA 9:00 CT
DSL Cardinals 1, DSL Giants Orange 6 (7 innings)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (16-34) fell to the Giants Orange (29-21) on Thursday afternoon in a seven-inning game.
Starter Keiverson Ramirez surrendered three runs in 3 1/3 innings on five hits and two walks. The 17-year-old fanned one and took his fifth loss. Bernard Mack tossed a scoreless 2/3 of an inning.
In the second, Hancel Almonte singled and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Marcelo Perez brought him across via a single. The Giants put up three runs in the fourth inning.
Justin Hernandez was touched for two runs on three hits and a walk in two innings. In the seventh, Jarol Baez yielded one run.
The Cardinals lineup only had three hits in the contest. Yordalin Pena, Almonte and Perez singled. The Cardinals went 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left four runners on base.
Andru Arthur took his sixth bag of the season. In the field, Paulo Asprilla committed a throwing error. Almonte threw a runner out at home from center field. The defense turned three double plays in the seven-inning contest.
