The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-4 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day Drew Rom pitched six scoreless, one-hit innings with eight strikeouts in Memphis’ shutout win. Other standouts include Thomas Saggese and Matt Koperniak.

The Memphis Redbirds blanked the Tides in a 5-0 contest at AutoZone Park on Tuesday. Starter Drew Rom pitched six scoreless innings, allowed one hit, struck out eight and walked two to earn his ninth win of the season and second with Memphis.

Guillermo Zuñiga relieved Rom and threw a scoreless seventh. Ryan Loutos hurled a scoreless eighth and Jacob Barnes tossed a scoreless ninth.
Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Kramer Robertson singled and later scored on a triple by Masyn Winn. The Redbirds increased their lead to 4-0 in the sixth. Ivan Herrera and Nick Dunn walked. Juan Yepez singled. Matt Koperniak doubled to plate Herrera and Dunn. Yepez was thrown out at home on a ground out by Robertson. Koperniak came home on a single by Richie Palacios.

Memphis made it 5-0 in the eighth. César Prieto doubled and later scored on a walk by Dunn.
Prieto and Yepez were each 2-for-5. Koperniak had two RBI.
The Memphis Redbirds (18-22) are 6.5 games out of first place in the International League West.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Norfolk, RHP Gordon Graceffo vs. LHP Cade Povich 6:45 CT.
The Springfield Cardinals were defeated by the Wind Surge in a three-run road loss on Tuesday. Starter Wilfredo Pereira pitched five innings, gave up five runs on seven hits, struck out five and walked two. Pereira took the loss.
Roy Garcia relieved Pereira and threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Logan Sawyer tossed a scoreless eighth.
Wichita went up 2-0 in the first inning and widened their lead to 5-0 in the third.
Springfield scored their two runs in the sixth. Jose Alvarez singled. Victor Scott II ground into a force out, eliminating Alvarez. Scott II stole second. Arquimedes Gamboa walked. Both runners came home on a triple by Thomas Saggese.

Saggese was 2-for-4 with two RBI and was the only Cardinal with multiple hits.
On the base paths, Scott II stole his 25th base with Springfield and 75th overall.
In the Texas League North, the Springfield Cardinals (20-20) are in second place, 0.5 games out of first.
Wednesday’s game: at Wichita, RHP Connor Lunn (4-5, 5.09) vs. Travis Adams RHP (2-8, 6.24) 7:05 CT.
Peoria at Lake County (postponed)
Peoria’s series opener at Lake County was postponed due to inclement weather. It will be made up on Wednesday, August 16 as part of a doubleheader.
The Peoria Chiefs (24-16) are in second place in the Midwest League West, 0.5 games back of first.
Wednesday’s games: at Lake County, RH Inohan Paniagua (0-0, 2.25) vs. LH Steve Hajjar (1-3, 4.33) 3:00 CT (Game 1); at Lake County, Max Rajcic RHP (2-3, 3.12) vs. Parker Messick LHP (1-3, 5.03) (Game 2).
The Palm Beach Cardinals home series against the Mighty Mussels opened with a seven-run loss on Tuesday. Starter Pete Hansen pitched five innings, gave up three runs on six hits, struck out five and walked two. Hansen took the loss, his third of the season.
Jason Savacool surrendered two runs in the sixth. Ixan Henderson threw a scoreless seventh. Angle Cuenca hurled a scoreless eighth. Cade Winquest yielded four runs, one earned, in 2/3 of an inning. Tyler Bradt got the last out of the ninth.
Fort Myers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. The Mighty Mussels added two runs in both the fifth and sixth to lead 5-0.
The Beach Birds finally scored in the eighth, putting up two runs to cut the lead to 5-2. Chase Adkison doubled and came home on a double by Lizandro Espinoza. Espinoza later crossed the plate on a double play by Kade Kretschmar.
Fort Myers widened their lead to 9-2 in the ninth.
Zach Levenson, Michael Curialle, and Joshua Baez were each 2-for-4. Adkison was 2-for-3.
On the base paths, Levenson stole his second base of the season. Curialle swiped his ninth bag. In the field, Chase Davis and Dakota Harris each made two fielding errors.
The Palm Beach Cardinals (19-22) are in second place in the Florida State League East.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Fort Myers, TBA (PB) vs. Ben Ethridge RHP (2-5, 2.34) 5:30 CT.
FCL Cardinals 3, FCL Mets 12 (seven innings)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals fell to the Mets in a nine-run loss on Tuesday. Starter Yonael Dominguez pitched one inning, gave up seven runs on five hits, struck out one and walked two. Dominquez took the loss.
Luis Gastelum surrendered two runs in two innings of relief. Dionys Guerrero relinquished two runs, one earned, in 1 1/3 innings. Randel Clemente yielded one unearned run in the final 1 2/3 innings.
The Cardinals scored first with one run in the top of the first. Jonathan Mejia singled and later came home on a ground out by Luis Pino. The Mets put up three runs in the bottom of the first to lead 3-1.
The Mets made it 9-1 in the second. The Cardinals scored again in the fourth to cut the lead to 9-2. Anyelo Encarnacion tripled and crossed home on a ground out by Yancel Guerrero.
The Mets scored twice more in the fifth to widen the lead to 11-2. The Cardinals made it 11-3 in the top of the seventh. Luis Rodriguez reached on an error and later came in on a sac fly by Raul Guzman.
The Mets scored their final run in the home seventh.
The Cardinals offense scored three runs on five hits. No Cardinal had multiple hits. Encarnacion’s triple was the only extra base hit.
On the base paths, Jose Cordoba stole his fourth base. In the field, Dominquez made an error on a pickoff. Justin Guerrero and Encarnacion each made fielding errors. Y. Guerrero made two errors, one throwing and one fielding. J. Guerrero had a passed ball.
In the Florida Complex League East, the Cardinals (17-29) are in last place, 12 games back of first. They have been eliminated from playoff contention.
Wednesday’s game: vs. FCL Nationals, TBA vs. TBA 9:00 am CT.
DSL Cardinals 0 at DSL NYY Yankees 6
The Dominican Cardinals were blanked by the Yankees in a 6-0 loss on Tuesday. Starter Yadiel Batista pitched five innings, gave up two runs on four hits, struck out three and walked one. Batista took the loss.
Jovi Galvez surrendered four runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief. Kener Perez tossed the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
The Yankees scored first with one run in the third inning. They followed with one run in the fourth, and two runs in each of the sixth and seventh for a 6-0 lead.
The Cardinals were held scoreless with only one hit, a single by Hancel Almonte. The offense was 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.
In the field, Almonte had an outfield assist at third base.
In the Dominican Summer League South, the Cardinals (16-33) are in seventh place, 23 games back of first. The Cardinals have been eliminated from playoff contention.
