The St. Louis Cardinals system went 2-1 on Monday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day Fernando Roquez recorded four hits across two DSL wins including a walk-off single, an RBI and three runs scored. Other standouts include Miguel Martinez and Junior Chirinos.

Memphis Redbirds – Off
In the International League West, the Memphis Redbirds (17-22) are 7.5 games out of first.

Peoria Chiefs – Off
In the Midwest League West, the Peoria Chiefs (25-17) sit a game behind the first-place Cedar Rapids Kernels.

Palm Beach Cardinals – Off
The Palm Beach Cardinals (19-21) are tied for first place with Jupiter in the Florida State League East.

The Florida Complex League Cardinals (17-28) were destroyed by the Mets (28-17) at Roger Dean Stadium on Monday.
Starter Victor Villanueva only lasted 2/3 of an inning and gave up six runs on four hits and three walks. The right-hander took his third rookie-level loss. In relief, Alexander Beltre was touched for a run in 2 2/3 innings. In one inning, Ettore Giulianelli yielded four runs.
The only Cardinals runs came in the fifth inning. Anyelo Encarnacion scored on a balk. With two men on base, Jose Cordoba doubled to score both and make the score 12-3.
Antoni Cuello surrendered one run in 1 2/3 frames on two hits, a walk and one strikeout. Miguel Martinez fanned three in two scoreless innings. In the ninth, Alejandro Cervantes allowed three runs, two earned, on three walks and no hits.
The Cardinals lineup only had six hits and three walks. Cordoba doubled and drove in two runs. Jonathan Mejia went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. The Cardinals went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight on base.
In the field, Villanueva, Adari Grant and Encarnacion each committed an error. Villanueva picked a runner off second base.
The last-place Cardinals are eliminated from playoff contention in the Florida Complex League East.

DSL Cardinals 7 at DSL Nationals 5 (completion of 8/10 contest, Game 1)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (15-32) topped the Nationals (10-35) in the completion of the August 10th suspended game.
Starter Keiverson Ramirez pitched two innings and yielded two runs, one earned, on two hits, two walks and one punchout. Braylin Paulino earned his third win of the year after he gave up two runs in four innings. The 17-year-old struck out six.
After the Nationals scored one in the first, the Cardinals took a 2-1 lead in the second inning. Paulo Asprilla and Elias Reynoso walked with the bases loaded. In the third, the Cardinals took a 4-2 lead after two stolen bases and two errors enabled two scores.
The rookie-level club added single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Daniel Rojas singled and Asprilla came across after an error. Luis Atotcha scored one with a forceout in the fifth and Arfeni Batista plated one via single in the sixth to make the score 7-2.
Guanchi Martinez threw two scoreless frames in relief. Juan Severino earned his first professional save despite surrendering one run in the ninth.
Fernando Roquez went 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Bracewell Taveras had the only extra-base hit, a double. The lineup recorded seven hits and four walks.
On the bases, Yordalin Pena, Facundo Velasquez and Rojas all took one bag. Taveras committed a fielding error. Roquez recorded an outfield assist from right field.
DSL Cardinals 5, DSL Nationals 4 (8 innings, Game 2)
In their second game of the day, the Dominican Summer League Cardinals (16-32) walked off the Nationals (10-36) in one extra inning.
Junior Chirinos tossed three hitless frames in his third game off the IL. The 18-year-old struck out two and has not given up a run in six innings this season. Giovanni Vargas yielded two unearned runs in two innings on a hit, one walk and one punchout.
The Nationals put up two runs in the fourth inning, but the Cardinals responded with four in the home half. Bracewell Taveras reached on a fielder’s choice and two runs came across on an error. Hancel Almonte singled to plate one and Taveras came home on another Nats error.
Yordy Herrera was touched for two runs on four walks and one strikeout in 1 2/3 innings. Emisael Carrera fanned four over 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his third win of 2023.
After the Nationals tied the game in the seventh inning, the Cardinals walked off the Nationals in the eighth. Fernando Roquez brought home Heriberto Caraballo via single.
Almonte, Roquez and Marcelo Perez recorded two hits. The lineup had 10 hits, all singles, and three walks. Cardinals pitching allowed just one hit but issued eight walks and allowed four runs, two earned. Taveras and Yordalin Pena both committed an error.
The Cardinals are eliminated from playoff contention in the Dominican Summer League South.
