The St. Louis Cardinals system went 1-3 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Chandler Redmond, blasted two home runs and a double in Springfield’s win. Other standouts include Iván Herrera, Errol Robinson and Ian Bedell.

The Memphis Redbirds (3-5) were defeated by the Nashville Sounds (MIL, 5-3) on Saturday night at AutoZone Park.
Starter Connor Thomas pitched only three innings and surrendered five runs on nine hits and a walk. TCN’s no. 19 prospect took his first loss of the season. Grant Black struck out four in two scoreless frames and Kyle Leahy tossed two innings with three strikeouts.
The Redbirds got on the board in the fifth inning as Iván Herrera drove in Kramer Robertson with a double. In the seventh, Robertson plated Juniel Querecuto to make the score 5-2.
In the eighth, JoJo Romero gave up a solo shot and a single. Kodi Whitley threw a perfect ninth inning.
Robertson, Herrera and Errol Robinson recorded two hits each. Luken Baker walked three times and Robinson twice. The lineup went 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position, fanned 11 times and left 10 runners on base.

The Springfield Cardinals (1-2) topped the Wichita Wind Surge (MIN, 2-1) at Hammons Field on Saturday for their first win of 2023.
Starter Logan Gragg yielded three runs in four innings on two hits, two walks, two hit batters and three strikeouts. Edgar Escobar earned his first win of the season after he threw two innings and gave up a run.
Already down 2-0, the Cardinals put up an impressive seven runs in the first inning. Nick Dunn walked with the bases loaded and L.J. Jones hit a bases clearing double for his first hit of the season and first at Double-A. Arquimedes Gamboa drove in a run and Mike Antico plated two with a triple.

Nick Trogrlic-Iverson pitched two scoreless frames with two strikeouts. Ryan Loutos recorded a scoreless ninth inning.
Designated hitter Redmond launched another solo home run in the sixth inning, his second of the night and season.
The Cardinals recorded 10 hits and four walks. Redmond went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double, two RBI and three runs scored. Every player was on base except Irving Lopez.
The Cardinals went 1-2 against Wichita this weekend.

The Peoria Chiefs (0-3) fell to the Cedar Rapids Kernels (MIN, 3-0) at Dozer Park on Saturday.
Starter Austin Love threw 4 2/3 innings and gave up two runs on three hits and a walk. TCN’s no. 24 prospect struck out five in his season debut. In his High-A introduction, Alfredo Ruiz surrendered three runs in 2/3 of an inning and took the loss.
The Chiefs took the lead in the third after Victor Scott II tripled to bring Luis Rodriguez across.

Rodriguez added two more in the fourth with a single. Noah Mendlinger came across on a passed ball to make the score 4-0. The Kernels took the lead in the sixth inning 5-4.
2020 round 4 pick Ian Bedell pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings and yielded two hits but fanned seven batters. Edgar Manzo was charged with three runs, one earned, in the ninth inning.
Jeremy Rivas and Nathan Church recorded two hits apiece. The lineup went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left 10 runners on base. Every player in the lineup was on base at least once.
Peoria was swept by Cedar Rapids this weekend to open the season.

The Palm Beach Cardinals (1-2) lost to the Jupiter Hammerheads (MIA, 2-1) at Roger Dean Stadium on Saturday.
Starter Pete Hansen made his professional debut and yielded two runs on five hits in four innings. TCN’s no. 16 prospect fanned six. Cade Winquest also made his professional debut and recorded two hitless innings with three strikeouts. Edwin Nunez tossed a scoreless inning.
The Beach Birds took the lead in the sixth inning. Lizandro Espinoza and R.J. Yeager hit RBI doubles. Joshua Baez drove in Yeager via sacrifice fly. In the eighth, Michael Curialle singled to drive in Won-Bin Cho.
Chandler Arnold pitched a scoreless eighth inning. Victor Villanueva was charged with four runs in 2/3 of an inning and took his first loss. John Lynch closed out the ninth with a hit and a strikeout. The offense was unable to mount a comeback in the bottom of the frame.
Palm Beach recorded eight hits and went 3-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Espinoza and Yeager each had an RBI and a run scored. Tre Fletcher tripled.
In his rehab assignment, Paul DeJong started at short and went 0-for-2. He has one hit in nine plate appearances.
Cho stole his first two bags of the year.
The Cardinals went 1-2 against the Hammerheads in their start of the season.
