The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-3 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, C Aaron Antonini, was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored in Memphis’ win at Durham. Other standouts include Luken Baker, Tre Fletcher and Alex Cornwell.
Results for games played on Tuesday, April 25.
The Memphis Redbirds blew past the Bulls in an 11-5 contest at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday. Starter Connor Thomas pitched 5 2/3 innings, gave up two runs on four hits, struck out four and walked four. Thomas earned his third win of the season.
Andre Pallante relieved Thomas and surrendered one run in 1 1/3 innings. Grant Black relinquished two runs in the final two innings.
Durham took an initial 1-0 lead in the first inning, then made it 2-0 in the third. Memphis answered in the fourth with two runs to tie the game. The inning began with a walk by Luken Baker. Oscar Mercado singled, then Justin Toerner doubled to score Baker. Chase Pinder drew a walk. Aaron Antonini plated Mercado on a sac fly.

In the sixth, the Redbirds took the 6-2 lead via two-run home runs by Antonini and Baker. In the seventh, the Redbirds increased the lead to 11-2 on a two-run single by Masyn Winn, a two-run double by Juan Yepez and an RBI ground out by Baker.
The Bulls scored one run in the bottom of the seventh and then added two more runs in the eighth.
Antonini was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Baker was 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Yepez was 2-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored. Winn was 2-for-6 with two RBI.

On the base paths, Mercado stole his eighth base of the season. Errol Robinson was caught stealing,
In the field, Baker and Winn each made a throwing error. Thomas committed an error on a pickoff.
Memphis is 16-6 on the season and is in first place in the International League West Division.
Wednesday’s game: at Durham, RHP Michael McGreevy (Triple-A debut) vs. RHP Elvin Rodriguez 5:35 CT.
The Springfield Cardinals were blown out by the Wind Surge in Wichita on Tuesday. Starter Adam Wainwright, in his second rehab start from St. Louis, pitched 4 1/3 innings, gave up three runs on seven hits, struck out one and walked one.
Runs were scored against all four Springfield pitchers. Nick Trogrlic-Iverson surrendered two runs in 1 2/3 innings in relief. Andre Granillo relinquished six runs while recording only one out in the seventh. Edgar Escobar allowed one run in the final 1 2/3 innings. Trogrlic-Iverson took the loss.
Springfield scored first in the top of the first. Pedro Pages, Chandler Redmond, and Jacob Buchberger each singled. Pages scored.
Wichita tied the game in the home half of the first, then took a 2-1 lead in the second. In the third, back-to-back home runs by Arquimedes Gamboa and Matt Koperniak gave the Cardinals a 3-2 lead.
Starting in the fifth, Wichita took the lead and proceeded to add on in the next two innings. They scored two in the fifth, one in the sixth, and seven in the seventh. Springfield did not answer.
Pages was 3-for-5. Buchberger was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Koperniak was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
On the base paths, Jose Alvarez was caught stealing. In the field, Koperniak made a throwing error and Wainwright committed an error on a pickoff.
Springfield is 5-11 on the season and is in last place in the Texas League North.
Wednesday’s game: at Wichita, Brandon Komar RHP (0-1, 6.14) vs. Travis Adams RHP (1-2, 9.31) 12:05 CT.
Peoria 2 at South Bend 3 (10 innings)
The Peoria Chiefs were topped by the Cubs in a 10-inning road loss on Tuesday. Starter Alex Cornwell pitched six scoreless innings, allowed three hits and struck out six.
Bryan Pope threw two scoreless innings of relief. Andrew Marrero surrendered three runs, two earned, in the final 1 2/3 innings and took the loss, his third of the season.
Peoria went up 1-0 in the third inning. Patrick Romeri singled and later scored on a double by Nathan Church.
South Bend tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. In the 10th, the Chiefs took the 2-1 lead. Romeri started the inning on second base and advanced to third on a sac bunt by Noah Mendlinger. Romeri scored on a wild pitch.
The Cubs scored two in the home half of the 10th to win in a walk off.
Jeremy Rivas was 2-for-4 as the only Chief with multiple hits. The offense was 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven on base.
Peoria is 7-9 on the season and is tied for fourth place in the Midwest League West.
Wednesday’s game: at South Bend, Dionys Rodriguez RHP (0-0, 0.84) vs. Luke Little LHP (0-0, .084) 6:05 CT.
The Palm Beach Cardinals were rocked by the Lakeland Flying Tigers in a 13-6 defeat in Lakeland on Tuesday. Reigning Florida State League Pitcher of the Week Brycen Mautz did not have his best stuff. The left-hander pitched 2 2/3 innings, gave up four runs on four hits, struck out one and walked four. Mautz took the loss.
Victor Villanueva surrendered three runs in 1 1/3 innings of relief. John Lynch relinquished four runs in 1 1/3 innings. Michael Brettell allowed two runs in 1 2/3 innings. With a scoreless eighth, Edwin Nunez was the only Cardinals pitcher to not yield multiple runs.
The Beach Birds scored first with two runs in the top of the first. The inning began with Brody Moore and Chris Rotondo singling. Moore advanced to third on a throwing error. Michael Curialle plated Moore and Rotondo on a single.
Lakeland answered with one run in the bottom of the first. The Flying Tigers continued to pump up their score with three runs in the third, three runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth to take a commanding 11-2 lead.
In the seventh, Palm Beach tried to come back with three runs. R.J. Yeager reached on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Joshua Baez singled. Tre Fletcher doubled, and Yeager scored. Baez scored on a ground out by Alex lasidernia. Moore tripled and Fletcher scored.

Lakeland made it 13-5 in the bottom of the seventh. The Cardinals added one more run in the eighth on a Fletcher triple.
Fletcher was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Rotondo was 2-for-4. Moore was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Curialle had two RBI.
In the field, Curialle made a throwing error.
Palm Beach is 8-8 on the season and is in second place in the Florida State League East.
