The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-2 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, 2B Noah Mendlinger, was 2-for-3 with three RBI in Springfield’s win. Other standouts include Luken Baker, Ixan Henderson, Miguel Villarroel and Brayden Jobert.
Results for games played Wednesday, April 24.
The Memphis Redbirds lost to the Jumbo Shrimp by a 5-2 score at AutoZone Park on Wednesday. Starter Adam Kloffenstein gave up four runs in the first inning but pitched through the seventh inning. In total, the right-hander allowed four hits, struck out seven and walked two. Kloffenstein took the loss, his third of the season.
Connor Thomas relieved Kloffenstein and surrendered one run in two innings.
After Jacksonville took the lead in the first inning, Memphis cut the gap to 4-2 in the fourth. Thomas Saggese doubled. Alfonso Rivas singled. Saggese scored on a single by Luken Baker. Matt Koperniak plated Rivas on a sac fly.

The Jumbo Shrimp added a fifth run in the eighth for the final score of 5-2.
The Redbirds scored two runs on seven hits. Baker was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Rivas was 2-for-3.
In the field, Gavin Collins had a passed ball.
Memphis is 10-12 for the season.
Thursday’s game: vs. Jacksonville, RHP Gordon Graceffo (2-2, 4.34) vs. RHP Roddery Munoz 6:05 CT.
The Springfield Cardinals once again defeated the Travelers by one run at Hammons Field on Wednesday. Starter Tink Hence pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up four runs, three earned, on four hits, struck out four and walked two.
Nick Raquet threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief, allowing two hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Leonardo Taveras hurled 1/3 of a scoreless inning. Andre Granillo surrendered two runs in the eighth. Matt Svanson tossed a scoreless ninth. Granillo received the win, his third. Svanson earned his third save.
Arkansas went up 1-0 in the top of the first inning. The Cardinals scored two in the home half to lead 2-1. Bryan Torres and Nathan Church walked. A double steal put them on second and third. Torres scored on a throwing error. Church came home on a single by Matt Lloyd.
The Travelers recaptured the lead with three runs in the fourth to make it 4-2. In the sixth, the Cardinals added three runs to lead 5-4. Church, R.J. Yeager and Lloyd singled. Jacob Buchberger grounded into a force out and Church was out at home. Yeager then scored on a wild pitch. Lloyd came home on a sac fly by Jeremy Rivas. Noah Mendlinger plated Buchberger on a single.

Arkansas tied the game with one run in the top of the eighth. In the bottom of the inning, Springfield put up two runs to lead 7-5. Buchberger and Rivas walked. Mendlinger doubled to score Buchberger and Rivas.
The Travelers added one run in the ninth to cut the lead to 7-6 but the scoring and game ended there.
The Cardinals scored seven runs on seven hits. Mendlinger was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Lloyd was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
On the base paths, Torres and Church each stole a base. In the field, Rivas made a throwing error. Wade Stauss was called for catcher interference. Chris Rotondo had an outfield assist at home plate.

Springfield is 8-0 at home and 14-3 on the season.
Thursday’s game: vs. Arkansas, Tekoah Roby RHP (1-0, 6.00) vs. Danny Wirchansky LHP (1-2, 4.85) 6:35 CT.
Peoria 2, Wisconsin 3 (10 innings)
The Chiefs were edged in extra innings by the Timber Rattlers at Dozer Park on Wednesday. Starter Brycen Mautz pitched five innings, gave up two runs on five hits, struck out three and walked one.
Dionys Rodriguez threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Roy Garcia hurled 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Tanner Jacobson surrendered one run in the final two innings. Jacobson took the loss.
Wisconsin went up 1-0 in the first inning and added a run to lead 2-0 in the third.
Peoria cut the lead to 2-1 in the fifth. Brody Moore doubled and later scored on a ground out by Won-Bin Cho. The Chiefs tied the game at 2-2 in the eighth. Osvaldo Tovalin singled and later came home on a throwing error.
The game went into the 10th and Wisconsin scored one run in the top of the inning to lead 3-2. The Chiefs were unable to answer in the bottom of the inning.
The Peoria offense scored two runs on seven hits. Leonardo Bernal was 2-for-5. Dakota Harris is 2-for-3.
On the base paths, Anyelo Encarnacion stole his first base of the season. Tovalin was picked off second base.
Peoria is 7-10 on the season.
Thursday’s game: vs. Wisconsin, Cooper Hjerpe LHP (0-0, 4.70) vs. Will Rudy RHP (0-1, 6.23) 6:35 CT.
The Palm Beach Cardinals prevailed over the Mighty Mussels by a 5-3 score on Wednesday. Starter Darlin Saladin pitched 5 2/3 innings, gave up two runs on four hits, struck out five and walked two.
Ixan Henderson surrendered one run with nine strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings of relief and received the win, his first of his professional career.
The game was scoreless for the first four innings. In the fifth, Brayden Jobert’s two-run home run put the Beach Birds up, 2-0.
Fort Myers scored three runs in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead. In the top of the seventh, Palm Beach retook the lead at 4-3. Johnfrank Salazar doubled and scored on a single by Lizandro Espinoza. Sammy Hernandez plated Espinoza on a single.
The Cardinals added a fifth run in the eighth to lead 5-3. Kade Kretzschmar doubled and came home on a double by Miguel Villarroel.
Villarroel was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Jobert was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
On the base paths, Villarroel stole two bases. Jobert swiped his third bag. In the field, Trey Paige made a throwing error. Jobert had a fielding miscue. Hermandez made an error on a pickoff.
Palm Beach is 11-6 on the season.
Thursday’s game: at Fort Myers, RHP Jason Savacool (1-0, 1.00) vs. Cesar Lares LHP (0-0, 3.12) 6:05 CT.
