The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-2 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach’s Gerardo Salas, pitched six scoreless innings with nine strikeouts. Other standouts include Osvaldo Tovalin, Zane Mills, Chandler Redmond, R.J. Yeager and Jacob Buchberger. Honorable mention to the Peoria offense as eight out of nine in the lineup had at least one hit.

The Memphis Redbirds were clobbered by the Jumbo Shrimp by a 10-1 score at AutoZone Park on Tuesday. Michael McGreevy pitched four scoreless innings, but in the fifth, the starter gave up two two-run home runs. Overall, the right-hander was charged with four runs on six hits, struck out one and walked one. McGreevy took the loss, his third of the season.
No-hit into the sixth, Memphis scored its only run of the game on a solo home run by Matt Koperniak.

Josh James relieved McGreevy and tossed a scoreless sixth. Jacob Bosiokovic surrendered two runs in the seventh. Brandon Komar yielded four runs in the final two innings.
The Redbirds offense had just two hits, Koperniak’s long ball and a Nick Raposo single. Leading off in his Memphis debut, center fielder Victor Scott went 0-for-4 including two strikeouts.
Memphis is 10-11 on the season.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Jacksonville, RHP Adam Kloffenstein (0-2, 5.89) vs. RHP Darren McCaughan 12:05 CT.
The Springfield Cardinals edged the Travelers in a one run game at Hammons Field on Tuesday. Starter Ian Bedell pitched 5 1/3 innings, gave up four runs on eight hits and struck out four.
Alex Cornwell surrendered two runs, one earned, in the final 3 2/3 innings of relief. Cornwell received the win, his second of the season.
Arkansas took 1-0 lead in the first inning and made it 2-0 in the second. In the top of the sixth, the Travelers increased the lead to 5-0.
Springfield staged a partial comeback with four runs in the home sixth. It began with a solo home run by R.J. Yeager. Matt Lloyd singled and later scored on a single by Jeremy Rivas. Jacob Buchberger tripled to plate Rivas, then came home on a throwing error. The Cardinals cut the lead to 5-4.
Arkansas scored one run in the top of the seventh to increase the lead to 6-4. In the bottom of the inning, Springfield answered with one run. Nathan Church doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and came home on a sac fly by Yeager.
In the eighth, the Cardinals pulled ahead for the first time, 7-6, on a two-run home run by Chandler Redmond.

Buchberger was the only Cardinal with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Yeager and Redmond each drove in two.
On the base paths, Aaron McKeithan was picked off first base. In the field, McKeithan made a throwing error and Bedell committed an error on a pickoff attempt.
Springfield is 13-3 on the season.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Arkansas, Tink Hence RHP (2-0, 1.17) vs. Reid VanScoter LHP (1-0, 2.40) 11:15 CT.
The Peoria Chiefs defeated the Timber Rattlers by a 6-2 score at Dozer Park on Tuesday. Starter Inohan Paniagua pitched four innings, gave up one unearned run on no hits, struck out three and walked three.
Zane Mills relieved Paniagua and threw three scoreless innings of relief to earn his second win of the season. Tyler Bradt surrendered one run in the final two innings.
Wisconsin scored first with one run in the top of the second inning. Peoria came back in the home half to lead 2-1. William Sullivan drew a walk and scored on a double by Anyelo Encarnacion. Brody Moore singled. Encarnacion crossed the plate on a sac fly by Joshua Baez.
The Chiefs made it 3-1 in the third on a solo home run by Dakota Harris. In the fourth, Peoria added three more runs. Baez, Won-Bin Cho, and Zach Levenson singled. Baez scored on a single by Osvaldo Tovalin. Leonardo Bernal plated Cho and Levenson on a single.
Peoria led 6-1 until the eighth, when Wisconsin scored their second run to make the final 6-2.
The Chiefs scored six runs on nine hits. Tovalin was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Bernal drove in two. No other Chief had multiple hits, but eight of the nine hitters had at least one hit.
On the base paths, Moore stole his fourth base of the season. In the field, Bernal made a throwing error. Paniagua made an error on a pickoff.
Peoria is 7-9 on the season.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Wisconsin, Brycen Mautz LHP (0-2, 9.82) vs. Mark Manfredi LHP (0-0, 2.35) 11:05 CT.
The Palm Beach Cardinals were blanked by the Mighty Mussels in a 1-0 shutout in Fort Myers on Tuesday. Starter Gerardo Salas pitched six scoreless innings, allowed three hits, struck out nine and walked one.
Zack Showalter relieved Salas and threw two scoreless innings of relief. Augusto Calderon surrendered the walk-off run in the ninth on a single, stolen base and a single. Beach Birds pitching combined for 14 strikeouts.
Palm Beach’s offense scattered four hits. Jose Cordoba was 2-for-4. The other hits were doubles by Luis Pino and Miguel Villarroel, but the offense was 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.
On the base paths, Villarroel and Cordoba each stole a base. In the field, Cordoba had an outfield assist at home plate.
Palm Beach is 10-6 on the season.
Wednesday’s game: at Fort Myers, TBD (PB) vs. Jeremy Lee RHP (1-1, 2.63) 6:05 CT.
