The St. Louis Cardinals system went 1-3 on Sunday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Zane Mills, pitched six scoreless innings on one hit in Peoria’s win. Other standouts include Juan Yepez, Patrick Romeri, Victor Scott II and Joseph King.

The Memphis Redbirds (15-6) fell to the Indianapolis Indians (PIT, 8-13) on Sunday to end their 12-game win streak.
Starter Matthew Liberatore pitched five innings and yielded three runs, two earned, on four hits and one walk. TCN’s no. 8 prospect struck out six and took his first loss of the season. Wilking Rodríguez tossed his second scoreless inning in his rehab assignment from St. Louis.
After the Indians scored in the second, Juan Yepez blasted a solo homer to tie the game in the fourth. Yepez brought in another run in the sixth to tie the score at 3-3.

Andrew Suárez could not hold the line as the reliever was charged with two runs in the seventh inning. Ryan Loutos gave up a run but fanned two in the eighth. Kyle Leahy recorded a scoreless ninth.
The Redbirds mounted a rally in the ninth inning. Oscar Mercado and Errol Robinson brought in runs to make it a two-run game. With the tying run at the plate, Kramer Robertson grounded out to end the contest.
Yepez went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a home run. Mercado had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. The lineup went 3-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
Mercado took his ninth bag of the season. Yepez threw a runner out at home from right field.
The Redbirds are in first place in the International League West after a 5-1 week against the Indians.

The Springfield Cardinals (5-10) were defeated by the Midland RockHounds (OAK, 8-7) on Sunday at Hammons Field.
Connor Lunn had a rough outing, surrendering seven runs in 3 2/3 innings. The right-hander took his second loss of 2023. Jose Martinez was touched for three runs on five hits in 3 1/3 innings.
The Cardinals struck first after Mike Antico hit a lead-off homer in the first, his second of the year. In the home half of the ninth, Wade Stauss was hit by a pitch and Arquímedes Gamboa hit his first homer as a Cardinal.

Jack Ralston tossed a scoreless inning with three strikeouts. Logan Sawyer pitched a scoreless ninth.
The Springfield lineup only had four hits and one walk. Antico and Gamboa homered but the RockHounds pitching staff held the Cardinals to three runs.
José Alvarez stole a bag, his second of the season.
The Cardinals went 2-4 against the RockHounds this week. They are in last place in the Texas League North.

The Peoria Chiefs (7-8) blanked the Fort Wayne TinCaps (SD, 4-11) at Dozer Park on Sunday afternoon.
Zane Mills tossed six scoreless innings and yielded only one hit and two walks. TCN’s no. 27 prospect fanned two and earned his second win of the year.
The Chiefs scored four runs in the fourth inning. Francisco Hernandez and Victor Scott II both drove in a run. Ramon Mendoza and Osvaldo Tovalin each singled to drive in a run. In the fifth, Scott plated one and came across on an error.
Ian Bedell pitched a scoreless 1 2/3 innings with four strikeouts. TCN’s no. 37 prospect lowered his 2023 ERA to 0.93. Chris Roycroft recorded a scoreless 1 2/3 innings.
In the seventh, Patrick Romeri hit a solo home run, his first of the season. Nathan Church and Aaron McKeithan contributed RBI singles to make the score 9-0.

The Chiefs recorded 11 hits, seven walks and went 7-for-16 with runners in scoring position. Mendoza, McKeithan and Romeri had two hits apiece. Scott had a hit, two RBI and two runs scored. Every player in the lineup either brought a run across or came home at least once.
Scott took two bags in the contest. TCN’s no. 29 prospect leads all Minor League Baseball with 16.
The Chiefs are tied for fourth place in the Midwest League West after a 5-1 series against the TinCaps.

The Palm Beach Cardinals (8-7) fell to the Dunedin Blue Jays (TOR, 7-8) on Sunday at Roger Dean Stadium.
In his best outing to date, starter Joseph King threw five innings and surrendered one run. The right-hander struck out three.
The only Beach Bird run came in the third inning. Lizandro Espinoza scored on a wild pitch to tie the game 1-1.
Cade Winquest took the loss after he yielded four runs in three innings. He was charged with four hits, a walk and three strikeouts. Chris Gerard pitched a scoreless ninth to keep his ERA at 0.00 in six innings this season.
R.J. Yeager, Joshua Baez and Carlos Linarez had two hits apiece. Brandon Hernandez walked twice. The lineup recorded six hits and five walks but went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
Palm Beach split the series 3-3 with Dunedin this week. They are tied for first with Jupiter in the Florida State League East.
