The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-1 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Players of the Day are the Palm Beach offense, who scored 17 runs in a massacre of the St. Lucie Mets. Other standouts include Joshua Báez, Anyelo Encarnación and Josh Kross.

The Triple-A Redbirds fell to the Norfolk Tides by a 7-3 score on Tuesday. It was Memphis’ first series-opening loss of 2026.
Starter Quinn Mathews pitched 4 1/3 innings, gave up three runs, two earned, on two hits, walked six and fanned four. Mathews took the loss.
Skylar Hales relieved Mathews and surrendered three runs in 2/3 of an inning. Matt Pushard, rehabbing in Memphis, yielded one run in two innings. Chris Roycroft tossed a scoreless eighth.
Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Bryan Torres tripled and scored on a ground out by Jimmy Crooks. The Tides tied the game in the bottom of the inning.
Norfolk took a 2-1 lead in the second. They added four runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to extend the lead to 7-1.
The Redbirds partially rallied for two runs in the eighth to shrink the lead to 7-3. Joshua Baez and Crooks hit back-to-back solo home runs.

Memphis scored three runs on six hits. Báez was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Torres was 2-for-4. Crooks had two RBI.
Crooks had a passed ball.
Memphis is 14-8 on the season and tied for first place in the International League West.
Wednesday’s game: at Norfolk, LHP Bruce Zimmermann (1-0, 3.15) vs. Nestor German RHP (0-1, 4.24) 5:35 CT.
The Double-A Cardinals withstood a late surge to edge the RockHounds by a 5-4 score at Hammons Field on Tuesday.
Starter Jurrangelo Cijntje pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up one run on three hits, walked three and fanned four.

Austin Love relieved Cijntje with 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Hunter Hayes hurled 1 2/3 scoreless innings to earn the win. Ryan Murphy surrendered three runs in the final 1 1/3 innings but still received his second save.
Midland went up 1-0 in the first inning. The score did not change until Springfield scored four runs in the seventh to take a 4-1 lead. Dakota Harris walked. Zach Levenson doubled. Ryan Campos walked and Harris scored on a passed ball. Travis Honeyman plated Levenson on a single. Trey Paige walked to load the bases. Campos was thrown out at home on a double play by Jeremy Rivas. Jon Jon Gazdar doubled to score Honeyman and Paige.
The Cardinals added a run in the eighth to extend their lead to 5-1. Chase Davis singled. Harris walked. Levenson singled. Campos singled and Harris scored.
The RockHounds rallied for three runs in the ninth but the Cardinals held on to win the game 5-4.
The offense scored five runs on six hits. Levenson was 2-for-4. Gazdar had two RBI. Harris scored two runs.
Miguel Ugueto stole his 10th base of the season. Paige made a throwing error.
Springfield is 6-10 on the season.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Midland, Braden Davis LHP (0-1, 8.25) vs. Corey Avant RHP (0-1, 3.75) 11:15 am CT.
The High-A Chiefs defeated the Kernels by a 7-2 score at Dozer Park on Tuesday. It marked Peoria’s first back-to-back victories this season.
Starter Nolan Sparks pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up one run on three hits, walked one and fanned eight.
Gerardo Salas relieved Sparks and threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings for his first win. Sam Brodersen surrendered one run in the seventh. Christian Worley and Jawilme Ramírez each tossed a scoreless inning.
Peoria scored one run in the first inning to take the lead. Rainiel Rodriguez doubled and came home on a single by Josh Kross.
Cedar Rapids tied the game in the top of the fourth. In the bottom of that inning, the Chiefs put up five runs to regain the lead 6-1. Jalin Flores, Cade McGee and José Suárez singled to load the bases. In his first game off the injured list, Anyelo Encarnación blasted a grand slam to right center field.

Peoria added a run in the sixth to extend their lead to 7-1. Encarnación doubled and scored on a triple by Tai Peete.

The Kernels scored one run in the seventh to cut the lead to 7-2.
The Chiefs scored seven runs on 12 hits. Encarnación was 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. Kross was 2-for-3 with two RBI. McGee was 2-for-4. Rodriguez scored two runs.
Jesús Báez made a fielding error. Peete had an outfield assist at second base.
Peoria is 6-9 on the season.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Cedar Rapids, Tanner Franklin RHP (0-0, 2.53) vs. Dasan Hill LHP (0-2, 12:38) 11:05 am CT.
The Cardinals gave the Mets a beat down at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie on Tuesday. Starter Ethan Young pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up two runs on three hits, walked two and fanned four.
Yordy Herrera relieved Young and threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings for his first win. Patrick Galle hurled a scoreless seventh. Kaden Echeman tossed the final two scoreless innings, with just a walk and all six outs via the strikeout.
The Beach Birds went up 7-0 in the second inning. Jonathan Mejía walked. Brayden Smith singled. Yordalin Peña was hit by a pitch. Cameron Nickens singled to plate Mejía and Smith. Trevor Haskins drew a walk. Ryan Weingartner walked and Peña scored. Nickens came home on a walk by Ryan Mitchell. Jack Gurevitch doubled to clear the bases.
Palm Beach added a run in the top of the third to lead 8-0. Nickens singled and scored on a double by Haskins.
St. Lucie got on the board with single runs in the bottom of the third and fourth to cut the lead to 8-2.
The Cardinals extended their lead to 9-2 in the seventh on a solo home run by Mitchell.

Palm Beach ran up the score with an eight-run eighth inning to increase the lead to 17-2. Peña doubled. Nickens drew a walk. Haskins walked. Weingartner followed with a grand slam to left center field.

Still in the eighth, Mitchell walked and came home on a Gurevitch home run. Mejía walked. Chase Heath doubled. Mejía scored on a balk. Heath came home on a ground out by Peña.
The Cardinals scored 17 runs on 10 hits. Gurevitch was 2-for-6 with five RBI. Nickens was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Weingartner had five RBI. Mitchell had two RBI and three runs scored. Smith, Peña, Mejía and Haskins each scored two runs.
The first-place Cardinals are 12-4 on the season.
