Cardinals Minor League Notebook – April 18, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-1 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis 2B César Prieto, was 3-for-5 including a home run and three RBI. Other standouts include Jimmy Crooks, Jon Jon Gazdar, Travis Honeyman and Trey Paige.

Memphis 5, Gwinnett 3

The Triple-A Redbirds beat the Stripers by a 5-3 score at AutoZone Park on Friday. Starter Brycen Mautz pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up two runs on five hits, walked two and fanned five.

Luis Gastelum relieved Mautz and threw two hitless, scoreless innings for his second win. Chris Roycroft surrendered one run in 1 1/3 innings. Scott Blewett tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his second save.

Memphis opened scoring in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Jimmy Crooks. Gwinnett put up two runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead.

The Redbirds regained the lead in the home fifth with three runs to make it 4-2. Bryan Torres singled and César Prieto followed with a two-run home run.

Two batters later, Crooks hit his second solo home run of the night.

The Stripers made it 4-3 in the top of the eighth. Memphis answered with a run in the home eighth to extend the lead to 5-3. Ramon Mendoza walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Brody Moore walked. Prieto singled to plate Mendoza.

The Redbirds scored five runs on 11 hits. Prieto was 3-for-5 with three RBI. Crooks was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Nelson Velázquez was 2-for-4. Torres was 2-for-4.

Velázquez stole a base.

Memphis is 13-6 on the season.

Saturday’s game: vs. Gwinnett, Pete Hansen LHP (0-0, 0.00) vs. JR Ritchie RHP (3-1, 1.27) 1:05 CT.

Springfield 4 at Wichita 5

In Wichita on Friday, the Double-A Cardinals were edged by the Wind Surge by a 5-4 score.

Starter Mason Molina pitched 4 1/3 innings, gave up one run on four hits, walked one and fanned six.

Nelfy Ynfante relieved Molina and surrendered four runs in two innings to take the loss. Edwin Nuñez tossed the final 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

Wichita took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Springfield tied the game in the third. Carlos Linarez singled and later came home on a double by Jon Jon Gazdar.

The Cardinals added a run in the fourth to lead 2-1. Trey Paige doubled and scored on a single by Travis Honeyman.

Springfield extended their lead to 4-1 with a two-run top of the seventh. Honeyman singled and stole second base. Gazdar hit a two-run home run.

The Wind Surge put up four runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 5-4 lead.

The offense scored four runs on 11 hits. Gazdar was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Honeyman was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Paige was 3-for-4.

Honeyman stole his sixth base of the season. Miguel Ugueto swiped his seventh bag. Ryan Campos had a passed ball.

Springfield is 5-8 on the season.

Saturday’s game: at Wichita, Chen-Wei Lin RHP (0-0, 1.35) vs. CJ Culpepper RHP (0-1, 3.38) 4:05 CT.

Peoria at Wisconsin (postponed)

The Chiefs’ road game was postponed due to inclement weather. It will be played on May 27 as part of a doubleheader.

Peoria is 4-8 on the season.

Saturday’s game: at Wisconsin, Yhoiker Fajardo RHP (0-0, 2.35) vs. Wande Torres LHP (0-0, 4.50) 1:10 CT.

Palm Beach 5, Jupiter 2

The Class-A Cardinals defeated the Hammerheads by the score of 5-2 on Friday at Roger Dean Stadium. Starter Jack Martinez pitched four innings, gave up one run on two hits, walked three and struck out two.

Kaden Echeman relieved Martinez and surrendered one run in two innings and received the win. Liam Best threw two scoreless innings. Patrick Galle tossed a scoreless ninth with a walk and three strikeouts to earn his second save.

The Beach Birds went up 1-0 in the first inning. Jack Gurevitch walked. Yordalin Peña was hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch before Gurevitch scored on a second wild pitch.

Jupiter tied the game in the fourth. Palm Beach broke the tie in the fifth with a solo home run by Jonathan Mejía.

The Hammerheads tied the game again in the top of the sixth. In the home sixth, the Cardinals scored two runs to go ahead 4-2. Cameron Nickens was hit by a pitch. Christian Martin singled. Trevor Haskins doubled to plate Nickens. Johnfrank Salazar singled to score Martin.

Palm Beach added a run in the seventh to extend their lead to 5-2. Alex Birge walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Cameron Nickens singled to bring Birge home.

The Cardinals scored five runs on seven hits. Nickens was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Martin was 2-for-3.

Martin and Haskins were caught stealing. Mejía made a throwing error. Martinez picked a runner off first base.

The Cardinals are 10-3 on the season.
