The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-3 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach 3B Jack Gurevitch, was 3-for-5 with two RBI. Other standouts include Luis Pino, José Suárez, Tai Peete, Carlos Linarez, Joshua Báez, Blaze Jordan and Colton Ledbetter.

Memphis 8 at Charlotte 9 (10 innings)
The Memphis Redbirds were defeated by the Knights in extra innings in Charlotte on Friday. Bruce Zimmermann took the mound for Memphis. The left hander pitched five innings, gave up two runs on four hits, and fanned seven.
Skylar Hales relieved and surrendered four runs in 2/3 of an inning. Gerson Moreno relinquished two runs in 1 1/3 innings. Ryan Fernandez hurled a scoreless eighth. Chris Roycroft yielded one unearned run in the final 1 2/3 innings to take the loss.
Charlotte scored first with one run on the board in the third inning. They made it 2-0 in the fourth. In the sixth, the Knights ran up the score to 7-0 with five runs scored.
Memphis launched a comeback in the top of the seventh inning, scoring seven runs on four long balls to tie the game. Ramon Mendoza thumped a solo home run. Brody Moore doubled and Joshua Báez hit a two-run home run.

Blaze Jordan followed with a solo home run. Leonardo Bernal singled. Nelson Velázquez walked, and Colton Ledbetter blasted a three-run home run to tie the game at 7-7.

The Knights recaptured a 8-7 lead in the bottom of the seventh, but the Redbirds tied it again in the eighth without the benefit of a hit or walk. Bryan Torres and Jimmy Crooks reached on errors. Torres scored on a wild pitch.
As the game went into extra innings, Memphis failed to score in the top of the 10th. Charlotte scored the ghost runner on second on a single against Roycroft to win in a 9-8 walk off.
The Redbirds scored eight runs on 13 hits. Báez was 2-for-6 with two RBI. Jordan was 2-for-6 with an RBI. Velázquez was 2-for-4. Ledbetter had three RBI. Mendoza was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Bernal and Jordan each stole a base. Moore was caught stealing.
Memphis is 10-3 on the season.
Saturday’s game: at Charlotte, Brycen Mautz LHP (0-1, 6.75) vs. Tanner McDougal RHP (0-0, 2.00) 5:05 CT.
The Double-A Cardinals lost to the Drillers by a 5-2 score at Hammons Field on Friday. Starter Braden Davis pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up five runs on five hits, walked one and fanned eighth. Davis took the loss.
Nelfy Ynfante relieved Davis and threw 4 1/3 no-hit scoreless innings. Hunter Hayes tossed a scoreless ninth.
Tulsa scored two runs in the third inning, and three in the fourth to lead 5-0.
Springfield was held scoreless until they broke through in the eighth with one run. Noah Mendlinger reached on an error and advanced to second. Jeremy Rivas plated Mendlinger on a single.
The Cardinals added a final run in the ninth to shrink the final score to 5-2. Trey Paige walked. Graysen Tarlow singled. Paige scored on a double by Carlos Linarez.
Springfield scored two runs on four hits. Linarez’ double was the only extra base hit.
Rivas stole two bases. Ryan Campos swiped his first bag.
Springfield is 4-3 on the season.
Saturday’s game: vs. Tulsa, LHP Mason Molina (0-0, 1.80) vs. Wyatt Crowell LHP (0-0, 0.00) 6:05 CT.
The High-A Chiefs fell to the visiting Cubs by an 8-6 score on Friday night at Dozer Park. Leonel Sequera made the start and went five innings, gave up five runs on five hits, walked two and fanned four. Sequera took the loss.
Aaron Holiday relieved Sequera and surrendered three runs in two innings. Jawilme Ramírez tossed the final two scoreless innings with five strikeouts including four in the eighth.

South Bend went up 2-0 in the first inning.
Peoria cut the lead to 2-1 in the third as Tre Richardson singled and scored on a double by Tai Peete.

The Cubs added three runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to extend their lead to 8-1.
The Chiefs scored a second run in the home half of the sixth to cut the lead to 8-2. Jalin Flores singled and came home on a double by José Suárez.
In the ninth, Peoria rallied for four runs to bring the final score to 8-6. Rainiel Rodriguez and Won-Bin Cho walked. Flores was hit by a pitch. Suárez singled to plate Rodriguez. Cho scored on a single by Miguel Villarroel. Jose Cordoba was hit by a pitch. Tre Richardson grounded into a force out and Suárez came home.

The Peoria offense scored six runs on 11 hits. Suárez was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Peete was 2-for-6 with an RBI. Flores was 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Cho stole his fifth base of the season. Flores and Peete were caught stealing. Peete and Cade McGee each made a throwing error. Villarroel had a fielding miscue. McGee had a passed ball.
Peoria is 3-4 on the season.

The Class-A Cardinals beat the Marauders in a 7-3 game in Bradenton on Friday. Starter Cade Crossland pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings, allowed one hit, walked six and fanned seven.
Ruben Menes relieved Crossland and threw 3 1/3 perfect innings with three strikeouts to earn the win. Getting just two outs in the eighth, Robbie Knowles surrendered three runs. Jovi Gálvez tossed the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
The game was scoreless until after Pirates prospect Seth Hernandez left after four no-hit innings with seven strikeouts. In the sixth, the Cardinals scored two runs against the Marauders’ bullpen. Luis Pino led off with a ground-rule double. Heriberto Caraballo and Ryan Mitchell walked to load the bases. Jack Gurevitch singled to plate Pino and Caraballo.
The Beach Birds added two runs in the seventh to extend the lead to 4-0. Pino doubled and scored on a single by Caraballo. Caraballo came home on a single by Jonathan Mejía.
In the top of the eighth, Palm Beah added three runs to lead 7-0. Gurevitch and Yordalin Peña singled. Ian Petrutz reached on an error. Chase Heath singled to score Gurevitch. Pino reached on an error that scored Peña and Petrutz.
Bradenton got on the board with a three-run bottom of the eighth, to shrink the lead to 7-3 before Galvez righted the ship.
The offense scored seven runs on 10 hits. Gurevitch was 3-for-5 with two RBI. Pino was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Caraballo scored two runs.
Petrutz and Mejía were both caught stealing. Pino had an outfield assist at home plate.
The Cardinals are 5-2 on the season.
