Cardinals Arizona Fall League Notebook – October 8, 2026

The Peoria Javelinas lost to the Scottsdale Scorpions on Wednesday. Cardinals CF Tai Peete, 1B Sammy Hernandez, and 3B Cade McGee were in the starting lineup. RHP Joseph King and LHP Michael Watson pitched in relief. Peete went 3-for-5 with an RBI, three stolen bases and two runs scored.

Peoria Javelinas 3 at Scottsdale Scorpions 4

The Javelinas fell to the Scorpions on Wednesday by the score of 4-3. This was Peoria’s fourth game and third loss in the early AFL season.

Five Cardinals saw action in the contest.

Tai Peete

Tai Peete hit leadoff and played centerfield. Peete went 3-for-5 with an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored. In the first inning, Peete lined out to left field. He hit a ground ball single to right field in the third inning, driving in Peoria’s first run of the game.

In the fifth, Peete singled to right again but was left stranded. The CF hit his third single in the eighth inning, stole second, and scored the Javelinas’ third and final run on a single by fellow Cardinal Sammy Hernandez. In his final at bat in the ninth, Peete struck out swinging.

Sammy Hernandez

Sammy Hernandez played 1B and hit third in the lineup. Hernandez was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Hernandez lined out to the shortstop in his first at bat in the first inning. He lined out to LF in the third inning.

In the sixth inning, Hernandez grounded out to the shortstop. He singled on a ground ball to right field in the eighth and drove in Cardinal teammate Tai Peete. Hernandez stole second base but was left on.

Cade McGee

Cade McGee hit fifth and played 3B. McGee went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. He flied out to left in the second inning and struck out swinging in the fourth.

McGee again struck out swinging in the seventh inning. In the game’s final inning, McGee flew out to right field.

Joseph King

Joseph King came into the game in the fourth inning with two outs. He gave up a double that scored the Scorpions’ fourth and final run. He induced a ground out to end the inning. King returned for the fifth inning and struck out the side. He threw 22 pitches, 13 for strikes.

Michael Watson

Michael Watson began the sixth in relief of teammate King. He gave up a single to the first hitter. He got his first out on a force out. The second out came on a line out to right field. Watson then walked his next batter and got the final out of the inning on a fly out to center field. He threw 22 pitches, 11 for strikes.

No other Cardinals saw action.

Peoria is 1-3 in the AFL season.
