The Glendale Desert Dogs defeated the Mesa Solar Sox in Wednesday AFL Action. Catcher Graysen Tarlow drew two walks and scored twice in the contest. Outfielders Travis Honeyman and Miguel Ugueto were both in the starting lineup.
Glendale Desert Dogs 6, Mesa Solar Sox 4 (seven innings)
The Glendale Desert Dogs edged the Mesa Solar Sox by the score of 6-4 on Wednesday. Miguel Ugueto, Travis Honeyman, and Graysen Tarlow were all in the starting lineup.
Ugueto played right field and hit third. He went 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout.
In his first at bat in the first inning, Ugueto struck out swinging. In the third, he grounded into a double play to end the frame.
In the fourth, Ugueto drew a walk but was stranded. Ugueto is hitting .326 with an OPS of .778 so far in the AFL.
Honeyman hit fifth and played CF. He went 1-for-3 with a strikeout.
Honeyman grounded out to the shortstop in his first at bat in the second inning. In the fourth, he struck out swinging.
Honeyman doubled in the fifth but was out at third in a flyout double play. Honeyman is batting .111 with an OPS of .532 so far in AFL action.
Tarlow was the catcher and hit eighth in the lineup. He was 0-for-1 with a stolen base, two walks, and two runs scored.
Tarlow drew a walk in the third inning and later scored on a double. He came to bat again in the fourth and took his second walk. He then stole second base and scored on a single.
In the sixth, Tarlow grounded out to second base. The right-handed hitter is batting .190 with an OPS of .546 in the AFL season.
No other Cardinals saw action in the contest.
The Desert Dogs are 5-12 on the season. They will play a road contest with the Scottsdale Scorpions on Thursday. Chen-Wei Lin is slated to start his fourth game of his AFL season.
