The Scottsdale Scorpions defeated the Glendale Desert Dogs in a 10th inning walk off on Friday. TCN’s Player of the Day Jeremy Rivas singled, walked, sacrificed and scored a run. Victor Scott walked and scored. Starter Inohan Paniagua allowed two runs in three innings.

Scottsdale Scorpions 8, Glendale Desert Dogs 7 (10 innings)
Three St. Louis Cardinals prospects appeared in Scottsdale’s 10-inning victory on Friday. Two were in the starting lineup, Victor Scott and Jeremy Rivas. The starting pitcher was Inohan Paniagua.
Center fielder Scott led off. He was 0-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. In the first inning, Scott grounded out to short. He flied out to left in the third. In the fifth, Scott drew a walk, stole second, advanced to third on an interference by the shortstop and scored on a single by teammate Adrian Placencia. Scott flied out to right in the seventh and grounded out to second in the eighth.
Jeremy Rivas hit sixth. The shortstop was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. In his first at-bat in the second inning, Rivas popped out to third. He drew a walk in the fourth and was eliminated in a double play. In the sixth, Rivas struck out. He singled to right in the eighth and scored on a double by teammate Reggie Crawford.
In the 10th, Rivas executed a sac bunt to advance the ghost runner from second to third. That runner scored the winning run on a single.
In the early going in the AFL, Rivas, who played with High-A Peoria during the season, is batting .387 with a .940 OPS.
After relieving his first time out for the Scorpions, Inohan Paniagua started on the mound for Scottsdale on Friday. The right hander struck out his first batter but yielded a single followed by a two-run home run. Paniagua followed with two strikeouts. In his second inning, he induced two fly outs to center and a ground out comebacker.
In his third and final inning, Paniagua generated a line out to third and two ground outs, one to the pitcher and one to third. Paniagua’s final line was 3IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 3K.
Scottsdale is 6-4 on the season.
