Cardinals Arizona Fall League Notebook – October 10, 2024

The Glendale Desert Dogs lost to the Salt River Rafters on Wednesday. Over nine plate appearances, Cardinals Nathan Church singled and Thomas Saggese walked.

Glendale Desert Dogs 2, Salt River Rafters 4

The Glendale Desert Dogs (1-1) fell to the visiting Rafters from Salt River by a 4-2 score on Wednesday.

Two St. Louis Cardinals players participated. Nathan Church started the game in center field and hit leadoff. Second baseman Thomas Saggese was in the starting lineup in the second spot.

Church went 1-for-5, with a first inning infield single to the shortstop. Saggese followed and lined into a double play.

Church struck out swinging in the third inning. He lined out to left in the fifth, grounded into a double play in the seventh, and grounded out to the pitcher in the ninth.

Thomas Saggese

Saggese went 0-for-3 with a walk. After he lined into an unassisted double play to first base in the first inning, he flied out to center field in the third, lined out to left in the fifth, and drew a walk in the seventh. Saggese was left stranded.

On defense, Saggese participated in a 6-4-3 double play in the sixth inning.

No other Cardinals saw action.

Thursday’s game:  vs. Peoria Javelinas, Jerming Rosario RHP (0-0, 0.00) vs. Ryan Bergert RHP (0-0, 0.00) 8:30 CT.
