The Glendale Desert Dogs shut out the Peoria Javelinas in Thursday’s AFL action. Starter Chen-Wei Lin pitched three scoreless innings and struck out five as he collected his third AFL win. Darlin Saladin and Tyler Bradt each threw a perfect inning out of the bullpen. Outfielder Travis Honeyman was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Glendale Desert Dogs 11 at Peoria Javelinas 0 (7 innings)
The Glendale Desert Dogs routed the Peoria Javelinas in a seven-inning road contest on Thursday.
Four St. Louis Cardinals prospects participated in the game. Travis Honeyman hit seventh in the lineup and manned center field. Chen-Wei Lin started for Glendale on the mound. Darlin Saladin and Tyler Bradt both pitched in relief.
Honeyman was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.
The 24-year-old stepped to the plate with runners at second and third base with one out in the bottom of the first. He scorched a single to bring both runners home and extend the Glendale lead to 5-0.

Honeyman moved to third base via a double and scored on a groundout in the inning.
In his second at-bat, Honeyman flied out to center field to end the second inning. The right-handed hitter came to the plate with runners at first and second and no outs in the fifth, and hit a single to load the bags. He moved to third base with a single and scored his second run of the game on a groundout.
Honeyman grounded out to third base in the seventh in his final at-bat. Honeyman has five RBI in the AFL season.
Following a seven-run top of the first, Lin took the mound for Glendale in his fifth AFL start.
The right-hander issued a lead-off walk after a called strike was overturned for ball four. Lin struck out the following batter. He then induced a flyout to left field and a backwards K for a scoreless first frame.
Lin began the second inning with a strikeout on a foul tip. He issued a walk and retired the next hitter via a flyout to center field for the second out. After allowing a first-pitch single, Lin ended the frame with a swinging strikeout on a slider in the dirt.
Lin retired the side in order in his third inning of work. The 23-year-old secured a flyout to center field, a groundout to first base, and a swinging strikeout with a changeup for a quick inning. The right-hander was lifted for a fresh arm in the fourth.
Lin threw three scoreless innings on one hit, two walks, and five strikeouts. The right-hander collected his third win of the AFL season. He threw 40 pitches, 26 for strikes, as he lowered his ERA to 6.57.
Saladin entered the game in the fourth inning in relief of Lin.
The right-hander retired his first two batters on groundouts to the shortstop and third baseman, respectively. The 23-year-old struck out his next hitter for a 1-2-3 frame and a scoreless relief outing. Saladin threw one scoreless inning on no hits, no walks, and one strikeout. He threw 15 pitches, 10 for strikes, as he lowered his ERA to a pristine 0.68.
Bradt came in to pitch the top of the sixth and keep the 11-0 shutout intact.
The right-hander secured a flyout to center field for his first out. He induced a groundout to second base to retire his next hitter. Bradt recorded a backwards K for the third out as he secured a perfect inning. He was removed from the game for a fresh arm in the seventh and final inning.
Bradt pitched one scoreless inning on no hits, no walks, and one strikeout. He threw 12 pitches, eight for strikes. The right-hander holds a 5.68 ERA in seven appearances and 6 ⅓ innings in the AFL.

The Desert Dogs are 9-15 on the season. They will play a home contest with the Scottsdale Scorpions on Friday.
