Cardinals Arizona Fall League Notebook – November 6, 2025

The Glendale Desert Dogs defeated the Mesa Solar Sox in Wednesday’s AFL action. Outfielder Miguel Ugueto collected two hits and an RBI as he raised his batting average to .333. Right-hander Randel Clemente recorded four outs in his seventh relief appearance.

The Glendale Desert Dogs bested the Mesa Solar Sox by the score of 15-9 on Wednesday. Outfielder Miguel Ugueto and pitcher Randel Clemente saw action in the game.

Ugueto played right field and hit fourth in the lineup. He was 2-for-5 with a strikeout, a stolen base, two runs scored, and an RBI. Ugueto raised his AFL batting average to .333 in the multi-hit performance.

In his first at-bat in the second inning, Ugueto lined a lead-off ground-rule double to center field. He stole third base and later scored on a wild pitch.

In the third inning, the 23-year-old hit a sac fly to right field to drive in the 11th run of the game, and the fifth of the frame, for Glendale. He lined out to center field in the fifth inning.

Ugueto singled to center field in the seventh and later scored on a double play ball for the 15th and final run for the Desert Dogs. The right-handed hitter struck out swinging in the ninth.

Clemente entered the game with the bases full and two outs in the eighth inning. He retired the first hitter he faced on a ground out to the shortstop to strand all three baserunners.

Clemente returned to pitch the ninth. The right-hander gave up a single to the lead-off man and threw a wild pitch to allow the runner to reach second base. He struck out his next batter swinging on a slider in the dirt.

Clemente threw his second wild pitch of the frame to the following hitter, whom he walked to put runners at the corners. Clemente gave up a single to the next hitter which brought a run home. The next batter singled to load the bags. Clemente induced a force-out at second base for the second out of the inning, though another run scored on the play. The final batter grounded into another force-out for the final out of the game.

Randel Clemente pitched the final 1 ⅓ innings for Glendale. He allowed two runs on three hits, one walk, and one strikeout. The right-hander threw 30 pitches, 20 for strikes.

No other Cardinals saw action in the contest.

Glendale is 8-15 on the season and will play a road contest with the Peoria Javelinas on Thursday. Chen-Wei Lin is slated to start his fifth game of the AFL season.
