Cardinals Arizona Fall League Notebook – November 14, 2024

The Glendale Desert Dogs lost to the Mesa Solar Sox on Wednesday but still have a shot at an AFL playoff berth. No Cardinals saw action in the game.

Results from the Arizona Fall League game played Wednesday, November 13.

Glendale Desert Dogs 1 at Mesa Solar Sox 2

Unable to push a run across over the final six innings, the Desert Dogs were edged by the Mesa Solar Sox by a 2-1 score on Wednesday. For the first time all season, no Cardinals participated in the game. In fact, Cardinals priority player Thomas Saggese has not played since Saturday’s Fall Stars Game.

Glendale is 16-13 for the AFL season and is tied with the Salt River Rafters for second place. Thursday’s final game will decide the playoffs, with Scottsdale the third competito.

The teams with the second and third best records, will meet in Friday’s Play-In Semifinal Game at 6:30 pm Arizona time at Scottsdale Stadium. The semifinal winner will face Surprise, the league’s No. 1 seed, in the AFL Championship Game on Saturday at 6:00 pm local time at Salt River Fields. The latter contest will be nationally televised on MLB Network.

Dodgers right-hander Jerming Rosario, who was scheduled to start for the Desert Dogs on Thursday, was instead used for the fifth through eighth innings on Wednesday. He fanned seven while allowing just one baserunner. That leaves Thursday’s starter for Glendale as TBA.

Thursday’s game:  vs. Scottsdale Scorpions, TBA vs. Cale Lansville RHP (0-2, 2.92) 2:30 CT.
