The Glendale Desert Dogs’ season ended on Wednesday with a loss to the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League Quarterfinals. Cardinals outfielder Miguel Ugueto hit a home run and drove in four. Catcher Graysen Tarlow singled and stole a base.
Glendale Desert Dogs 7 at Peoria Javelinas 8
After holding a 7-4 lead in the seventh, the Desert Dogs lost to the Javelinas by the score of 8-7 on Wednesday evening. Cardinals Miguel Ugueto and Graysen Tarlow were in the starting lineup.
Center fielder Ugueto hit fifth. He went 1-for-4 with a strikeout, four RBI and a run scored.
In the first inning, Ugueto hit a three-run home run to give Glendale a 4-0 lead. In the third, Ugueto popped out to first base. He hit a sac fly in the fifth for the Desert Dogs’ fifth run.
Ugueto lined out to right field in the seventh and struck out looking in the ninth. He finished the season with a .250 average and an OPS of 1.200.
Tarlow was the catcher and hit ninth. He was 1-for-4 with a strikeout.
In the second inning, Tarlow struck out swinging. He grounded out to third in the fourth inning. Tarlow flied out to right field in the sixth. He singled and stole second base in the eighth but was left stranded. Tarlow hit .250 with an OPS of .500 for his AFL season.
No other Cardinal saw action.
Thursday’s game: Glendale’s AFL season concluded with Wednesday’s loss. Peoria will face Scottsdale in Thursday’s Semifinal, with Mesa playing Surprise. The two winners will vie for the league title on Friday.
