Results from the Arizona Fall League game played on Friday, November 12.

Desert Dogs 2, Scorpions 4 (seven innings)

The Glendale Desert Dogs were defeated by the Scottsdale Scorpions in 4-2 contest at home on Friday afternoon.  For only the second time this AFL season, no St. Louis players appeared in the game. The two teams played only seven innings.

Scottsdale scored all of their runs early, with three in the first inning, and one in the second. That 4-0 score held until the sixth inning. Jeremiah Jackson doubled, and following a fly out by Yoelqui Cespedes, James Outman drew a walk. With two outs, Houston’s Korey Lee smacked a double to center that scored both Jackson and Outman to cut the lead to 4-2.

Glendale sent four pitchers to the mound. Starter Johan Dominguez pitched three innings and gave up four runs, three earned, on six hits. The White Sox prospect struck out three and walked one. R.J. Freure followed with two scoreless innings. Zach Linginfelter and McKinley Moore each tossed a scoreless inning. Dominguez took the loss, his second of the AFL season.

With one week remaining in the season, Glendale has fallen back into second place in the AFL West, with a record of 15-11, one game behind the 15-9 Surprise Saguaros.

The Fall Stars Game will take place on Saturday, at Salt River Fields at 6 pm CT. Four Cardinals have been named to the West Division roster – Brendan Donovan, Lars Nootbaar, Juan Yepez, and pitcher Zack Thompson. Nolan Gorman was also chosen but will not play due to a hamstring injury.
