The Glendale Desert Dogs defeated the Peoria Javelinas in a seven-inning contest by the score of 6-3 on Friday.

Six St. Louis Cardinals prospects participated in the game. Miguel Ugueto, Travis Honeyman, and Graysen Tarlow were all in the starting lineup. Darlin Saladin started the game. Tyler Bradt and Randel Clemente pitched out of the bullpen.

Honeyman played center field and hit sixth in the lineup. He went 0-for-2 with an RBI.

In the first inning, Honeyman hit a sac fly that scored the second run of the inning.

Ugueto singled in the third to drive in the Desert Dogs’ sixth run. In the sixth, he struck out swinging.

Darlin Saladin started the game. He pitched three innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits, two walks, and six strikeouts. Saladin earned his first win of the AFL season.

In the first inning, Saladin issued a walk and a single to the first two hitters of the game. He struck out the next hitter. Saladin induced a force out next to nail the runner at second base, but a run scored as Saladin was unable to catch the throw from the shortstop, which prevented a double play. The final hitter of the frame grounded out to Tarlow.

In the second inning, Saladin gave up a one-out double but struck out the side.

In the third, the righty issued a lead-off walk and made a throwing error on a pickoff attempt to allow the runner to move to third base. He struck out the next batter, then gave up a double which scored a run. Saladin retired the next hitter on a groundout to the shortstop and secured a strikeout to limit the damage. He was lifted for a fresh arm in the fourth.

Tyler Bradt took the mound in relief in the top of the fifth.
