On Monday afternoon, at the non-mathematical mid-point of the St. Louis Cardinals’ 2018 season, I joined Ken Miller and his co-host Trent Condon in the newest installment of our long-running series to discuss the Cardinals in the Des Moines radio market and on the internet. The two anchor The Ken Miller Show with Trent Condon at KBGG 1700 AM Radio.
The discussion began with the recent results of the team and how mediocrity and turmoil led to the surprising dismissal of manager Mike Matheny. I discussed why the hitting coaches were included. We talked about why the Saturday-Sunday timing was ideal to being the fresh start. A nod was given to Cardinals All-Star pitcher Miles Mikolas.
A look ahead the immediate post-break schedule was reviewed as a trigger for the club’s trade deadline posture and we also discussed managerial candidates and what Mike Shildt would need to do to get the interim tag removed.
