St. Louis Cardinals Organization Roster Matrix – 2025 Regular Season

NOTE: As of 11/2/25, this version of the roster matrix is no longer current. It reflects changes during the 2025 regular season. It should now be considered a historical reference document. For the current roster matrix for the 2025-2026 offseason season, click here.

The St. Louis Cardinals’ full system view by position and level is updated to reflect rosters and transactions for the 2025 regular season.

This newest Roster Matrix covers the St. Louis Cardinals and the entire minor league system, including the MLB club and their four full-season affiliates plus two rookie level teams – for the 2025 regular season.

As a reminder, the previous matrix outlined all organizational transactions during 2025 spring training.

A refresher

If you are new to The Cardinal Nation and not familiar with the Cardinals organization roster matrix, here is quick summary:

As the 2025 regular season opened for Major League St. Louis and Triple-A Memphis, the Cardinals organization had 231 players under contract from top to bottom, including a full 40-man roster. The 40-man members are called out in bold.

The matrix places each of the 231 players by position at his assigned level in the system as well as by position. However, be aware that the initial rosters for Springfield, Peoria, Palm Beach and the Florida Complex League/Extended Spring Training will not be released until April 4.

The matrix is updated whenever transactions occur.

Nowhere else will you find this current and comprehensive single-page view of the entire Cardinals organization plus a decade of history.

(Do not be concerned about the order of the players’ names within position. It has no relative significance.)

2025 Cardinals Regular Season TV Schedule – AR, OK, TN, KY, MS

St. Louis Cardinals fans in Arkansas, Oklahoma, as well as parts of Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi can more easily find game telecasts on any given day this season, starting with Opening Day.

In-market St. Louis Cardinals fans can subscribe to FanDuel Sports Midwest to watch their favorite team in action. New for 2025, those without a traditional cable or satellite provider can subscribe to FanDuel’s direct-to-consumer streaming service.

Out-of-market fans can use a package like MLB.TV or MLB Extra Innings to view the Cardinals on television or via streaming devices.

However, another important group of Cardinals fans live outside of FanDuel Sports Midwest’s area but are firmly in Cardinals Country – in the states of Oklahoma and Arkansas as well as parts of Mississippi, Kentucky and Tennessee.

The good news for these viewers is that, depending on their cable system, they should be able to watch most Cardinals telecasts this season on their regional FanDuel Sports Networks (RSNs).

Even better, for 2025, most games will be on the same networks and same channels all season long. In the past, many games were moved to alternate channels, making the quest to find the nightly telecast a chore.

The big picture schedule

Currently, FanDuel Sports Network is scheduled to televise 151 Cardinals regular season games in 2025, leaving 11 games to be carried exclusively on four other providers. They are

  • FOX (April 19, July 19, Aug. 9, Aug. 16 and Sept. 6)
  • ESPN (April 6)
  • Apple TV+ (May 9, May 23 and June 27)
  • Roku (June 1 and June 29)

These are part of Major League Baseball’s national television packages.

What follows is how to see the 151 games from FanDuel via cable systems (and related app) in these specific markets.

The markets

Telecasts of Cardinals games on FanDuel Sports Southeast Extra are available in the Memphis DMA (designated media area, or market), plus the counties of Union, Pontotoc, Yalobusha and Grenada in Mississippi.

Telecasts of Cardinals’ games on FanDuel Sports South are available in the Evansville and Paducah/Harrisburg/Cape Girardeau DMAs.

For those in Oklahoma and Arkansas coverage areas, most FanDuel Midwest-originated games can be seen on FanDuel Sports Southwest.

The exceptions

The great news is that instead of a long daily schedule like I have provided in prior years, the exceptions for 2025 are relatively few. Other than these games, look for the remainder of the 151 on their main channel.

Memphis, etc. (FD Sports Southeast Extra)

  • 4/8 – via the app only

Paducah/Evansville, etc. (FD Sports South)

  • 4/8 – via the app only
  • 3/31, 4/1, 4/5, 4/11, 4/13, 4/14 – FanDuel Sports Network Extra
  • There could be a few others depending on a potential Grizzlies playoff schedule

Oklahoma/Arkansas (FD Sports Southwest)

  • 3/27, 3/31, 4/8, 4/11, 4/13 – FanDuel Sports Network Extra

Reminders

As noted above, the RSNs have an alternate channel, with the “Extra” suffix added, but even two channels are not always enough to carry all the required simultaneous live content. Sometimes in these overlapping situations, the Cardinals get bumped. You may have to check your local listings to find the FanDuel Sports Network Extra channel number, but the search should be worth it!

It is also important that FanDuel RSN subscribers understand that all FanDuel Sports Midwest-covered Cardinals games are available via streaming. No matter which cable, satellite or streaming provider you use, or if you don’t have one at all, you have an always-available alternative.

All 151 Cardinals games are available for streaming by RSN subscribers on the FanDuel Sports app.

Also mentioned above is the new direct-to-consumer streaming offering, which means that those in-market fans without a traditional cable or satellite provider can watch games for the first time. You can subscribe to the DTC offering directly or via Prime Video.

TCN Reader Mail: Out-of-Market Fan Can’t Find Cardinals Games

Overnight, I received a frantic email from a long-time St. Louis Cardinals fan confused about how to watch games out of market for the first time. With nowhere to go for help and Opening Day upon us, she wrote The Cardinal Nation.

I am sharing our exchange in hopes that it might help others.

Her note:

I am a 76 year old who has been a Cardinal fan my whole life! I have moved to Washington State to be near family. I am more than EXTREMELY disappointed that I am apparently unable to access Fandual to watch Cardinal games this year! I have tried various formats and Fandual directly and each time the response is that it is unavailable in my zip code 98022. Please explain this to me and hopefully tell me how to remedy this situation. This is the first time in years that I will not be able to watch opening day and opening day festivities and I am heart broken!

My reply:

Hello, Janice. You moved out of the Cardinals TV territory so cannot subscribe to FanDuel Sports Midwest. But you can still see the games. There are two ways to watch games when you live out of market.

The first option is via MLB.TV. This is what I use. If you have a smart TV, you can stream all the games all season to your TV using MLB.TV. You can also view games on your phone or tablet (if you use them). Think of it like subscribing to Netflix or HBO.

MLB.TV costs $150 per year and includes all teams’ games except for the ones in your area (my guess is the Mariners are blacked out) as well as most minor league games if you care about (Cardinals) prospects. Audio is also included if you want to listen to the radio telecast (from KMOX or other) instead.

If by chance you are a T-Mobile customer for your cell phone, they give their customers MLB.TV for free.

Your second choice is MLB Extra Innings. It is like MLB.TV, but not every game is included. The service is ordered from and provided by the paid television provider you already have. Across the USA, the most popular provider that offers MLB EI is DIRECTV, but there are many others, too, like Xfinity and Dish Network.

Using the link below, click on “Step1: Select Your Provider” to see the list of companies that support MLB Extra Innings in your area. You can see if the TV provider you may be using already has MLB EI available to add onto your current cable or satellite service.

It also costs $150 per season. One benefit of MLB Extra Innings is that it also gives you access to MLB.TV at no additional cost. That way, if you want to use mobile devices to stream the games sometimes, you can do that, too. Or you could use MLB.TV on the days MLB Extra Innings does not include the Cardinals game.

I prefer MLB.TV because it has more games, but MLB Extra Innings is easier to use for some because it is just another set of channels on your current TV listing. Whichever one you buy, one you get the hang of it, it should be straightforward to use. You just select St. Louis’ game from the daily choices. With MLB.TV, you can also come back and watch them after the fact if you can’t catch the games live. I imagine with the time zone difference, that could be valuable now and then.

I know this is a lot of information, but I tried to be complete. If you need it, perhaps you can ask a tech-savvy family member or friend to help you. If you have time to work on it this morning, you should be ready to go by first pitch. Good luck!

News from St. Louis Cardinals Minor League Spring Training Camp on March 24. Monday brought a trio of games against New York Mets prospects. Other players had the chance to participate in Memphis’ exhibition game with St. Louis. A Cardinals starter plans to make a tune-up outing on Tuesday.

Cardinals Set 2025 Opening Day Roster

On Sunday, the St. Louis Cardinals set their Opening Day 26-man roster, but not without some surprises.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced today (Sunday, March 23) that the team has reduced its Spring Training roster to 27 players with three players moving to minor league camp. Pitcher Zack Thompson to be placed on the Injured List on Monday, March 24.

Prior to today’s game, the Cardinals optioned infielder José Fermín and pitcher Michael McGreevy to Memphis (AAA) and re-assigned non-roster infielder José Barrero to the Memphis roster.

Brian Walton’s take

Well… None of the battles we thought were underway turned out to be real.

Victor Scott vs. Michael Siani – Both somewhat redundant center fielders made the roster, with Scott, coming off a strong spring, named the starter.

Jose Fermin vs. Jose Barrero – A direct impact of the above meant there was no roster room for either to serve as the reserve shortstop. Any further bumps or bruises to Masyn Winn would mean a quick call to Memphis for Fermin or Thomas Saggese. (Barrero does not have a 40-man roster spot.)

The possibility of a six-man rotation – This idea, floated by manager Oliver Marmol recently, created hope for Michael McGreevy. The latter did everything asked of him this spring, but it didn’t translate into a spot with the team.

The fifth starter – This was a bit of a surprise. Steven Matz again lost his starting spot, moved to relief until April 16. Rather than the berth going to McGreevy, however, the Cardinals decided to give Matthew Liberatore another chance in the rotation.

The last pen spot – Though the very end of the eight-man bullpen did not receive much focus, I felt the last spot would go down to Kyle Leahy vs. Chris Roycroft. However, with McGreevy going to Memphis, both relievers, Leahy and Roycroft, made the team.

As a result of this, no non-roster camp invitees made the 2025 team.

Other news

Though this likely only affects Memphis, it is worth watching. Given the reality that every organization is making tough cuts right now and the fact that Anderson had a dismal spring, my guess is that he will not be claimed. And if he is, the Cardinals will let him go. Whether Anderson decides to report to Memphis or go elsewhere is anyone’s guess.

Cardinals Sign Free-Agent Relief Pitcher Phil Maton

The St. Louis Cardinals announced today (Thursday, March 13) that they have signed free-agent right-handed pitcher Phil Maton to a one-year contract for the 2025 season.

Phil Maton

Maton (pronounced MAY-tahn) closed out the 2024 season as a member of the New York Mets after coming over in a trade from Tampa Bay on July 9.  He went 3-3 with a 3.66 ERA in a combined 71 games with the Mets and Rays last season and appeared in six postseason games during New York’s advance to the National League Championship Series.

The 6-2, 206-pound Maton registered a career-high 18 Holds last season and combined for a 1.11 WHIP, including a 0.84 mark over his 31 games during the Mets stretch run to the postseason.

Maton was unscored upon in 25 of his 31 games pitched for the Mets last season and recorded a 1.99 ERA over his final 42 games pitched dating back to June 12.

Maton, who turns 32 on March 25, will be entering his 9th season in the majors, having debuted in 2017 with the San Diego Padres.  He owns a career mark of 19-15 with 5 saves and a 4.16 ERA in 415 career games with San Diego (2017-19), Cleveland (2019-21), Houston (2021-23), Tampa Bay (2024) and the New York Mets (2024).  He was drafted by San Diego in 2015 out of Louisiana Tech University.

A native of Chatham, IL, Maton has appeared in 26 postseason games, including the 2021 World Series with Houston.

Bailey Horn

The Cardinals have designated LHP Bailey Horn for assignment to make room for Maton on the team’s 40-player Major League roster which currently stands at 40 with today’s announcement.

Maton will be issued uniform no. 88 when he reports to the Cardinals Spring Training camp.

Brian Walton’s take

The Cardinals finally signed their first free agent of the 2024-2025 offseason just two weeks ahead of Opening Day. St. Louis is the last of the 30 MLB teams to sign anyone. Maton’s contract is reportedly for $2 million.

Maton should play a key leadership role in a Cardinals bullpen that lost his predecessor, Andrew Kittredge, to free agency. Other relievers had been highly complementary of the impact Kittredge had on them. He also pitched well for St. Louis, so Maton has a lot to live up to.

With this move, the Cardinals have 49 players in camp, including 36 on the 40-man roster plus 13 non-roster invitees.

Horn, who was claimed off waivers from the Detroit Tigers on January 9, had already been reassigned to minor league camp. In the next five days, he will either clear waivers and remain with Memphis or be claimed again and move on to another organization.
