After Monday’s day off…
7:15 p.m. LHP Génesis Cabrera (0-1, 7.36) vs. RHP Luis Castillo (5-1, 2.45) FOX Sports Midwest // KMOX
Shux, we have to face Castillo this time around. He could be hard to handle. Maybe he will have an off day in this one. Need to take two of three against the Reds heading into Wrigley for the weekend.

The Reds are starting to flex their muscles. Dietrich has been playing out of his mind and they are going to be getting Gennett back soon too, to go along with Votto, Suarez, Senzel, and others. This division is so tough I wonder if all five teams might finish above .500.
In fact, that is what PECOTA predicted before the season – all five NL Central teams with winning records. Apparently there have been a couple of prior years when a division had no losing teams (but the last place one at .500). So if it happens in 2019, it might be a record.
This will be a test for the Redbirds. They have now won four in a row and are fresh off the sweep of their rivals and back in the thick of the division race.
If they win two of three against the Reds all is well. If they lose two of three against the Reds, well, back to square one.
Oh, and I have an idea. Why don’t we send Hicks back to Memphis and sign Rosenthal to be our late inning guy?

For the initial projections, I think you are right, gscottar. The PECOTA numbers change by the day and I don’t have time right now to go back and see if there are archives, but at some point this spring, I thought I remembered that all the NLC teams were at least down for 82 wins.
Reds are firing on all cylinders right now. Not a good time to see them. They hit the ball well. Their pitching has been on the upswing too

You are correct jager. I know we just had an emotional weekend sweep against our rival but we had better bring our A game against the Reds or we will get punked. Of course then it is back to Wrigley. This will not be an easy week.
I like that the reds are playing good, in our 2 previous sweeps this year against Milw and LAD, our next series we came out flat in the first game against teams that werent playing well at the time… Reds and Mets. Even I think after big series wins esp sweeps, teams come out with a ho hum attitude the next game but with visits to cincy and chg this week, I dont see that being the case. Honestly the series that worries me the most is against the Marlins next week after playing the cubs and reds.
Whats the weather like in St. Louis? Not only for this game tonight but the entire series? The iPhone shows a good chance of rain the next few days in the area so chances are we might see at least one delay, even perhaps a cancellation.
I guess if there is a delay tonight I can watch my regular Tuesday night episode of Cannon.

According to the weather report, it appears there may be some scattered thunderstorms through out the evening but it looks like they will start the game on time But there may be a delay during the game but hopefully not. Tomorrow looks just cloudy.
I’ll be tuning in to the Reds broadcast tonight. I always watch the other team’s broadcast when they play the Cardinals. I am always curious as to what they say about St. Louis and I just hope and pray its Brennaman and Welsh tonight and not Brantley. Jeff Brantley is the absolute #1 worst announcer in the game today. He’s even worse than Joe Morgan used to be.

I’m interested to see how Cabrera does tonight now that he has that first start under his belt and the 1st game nerves out of The way. I know the numbers don’t look good from his last start but I think he made some good pitches, it was just a couple misplaced ones against the phils that cost him.

Rain is still a factor for tonights game so a quick start and maintaining an early lead may loom big.
Phillies lose McCutchen for the rest of the season. Suffered a torn ACL last night in San Diego.

Textbook Esteemed Rat….always a class act. If this one gets washed out, I say that we all join Rat in watching “Cannon”, then we can all talk about it tomorrow on our “Miscellaneous Thread”….if we had one.
