StL 2019 Game 26 thread: Sat 4/27 vs. Reds

I sure hope Hudson can get thru 6 innings. Not sure why the Reds starters are doing better this year. They still play half their games in the bandbox.

The Reds have been a real head scratcher. Everyone assumed they would be all offense and no pitching this year but it has been the exact opposite, last night withstanding.

I watched the game but haven’t mastered multi-tasking of watching and posting on computer at the same time. What is going on with Jen Langosh and her MLB game writeups? Seems like all she does now is specialize in one player in each game. It was Hudson earlier and today it was Ozuna. Almost the entire column is about the one person and no real description of the game although she had to mention what Ozuna did. I guess if I watch it I don’t need to read about it huh?

Good win today, unfortunately couldn’t watch. It does seem situational hitting has improved this year, but can’t put my finger on stats just yet.

Now that I read that she has or will soon have a new job I don’ think she is even going to games anymore (judging from what she is writing). She has been okay but the guy who took all her road trips last season when she was busy nursing her kiddo was actually pretty good. He put out a couple of good columns every other day or so plus covering the games. But I don’t remember his name. I would think the Cards MLB position is one of the better ones and I hope we get a new replacement.

I have always liked Ted Barrett as an umpire – perhaps because he looks like a younger Clint Eastwood but his HPU calls yesterday sure were inconsistent. I watched an earlier game (can’t remember which one) but the HPU was so far off the plate to the batters side he could not possibly judge an outside pitch (and it seemed he never did – at least not accurately). I did some HS umpiring when in college and was told that to try and center yourself behind the catcher but favor the side of the batter to avoid the catchers head blocking the call. It would be interesting to read an MLB umpires manual – they must be written in disappearing ink….LOL. GO CARDS.

My thoughts exactly. I never felt that she was as devoted to the Cards as she was to the Pirates but that is in the past now. I am very surprised that MLB would hire a rookie to cover the Cards. Heck, even Erica Weston from Fox Sports Midwest would probably do a nice job. She has surprised me as being a very good reporter in her appearances on FSM. And very easy on this old mans eyes too.
