Luke Gregerson actually started for Palm Beach and threw a scoreless 1st with a strikeout on 20 pitches. Oviedo started the 2nd inning and tossed 5.2 innings. Gave up 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits, 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. He also gave up a HR and threw 90 pitches.
Tommy Parsons is in some kind of zone for Peoria. Through 5 innings and he’s at 44 pitches with 34 for strikes. No Timber Rattlers have reached so far.
Parsons, Perez (4 hits), and Whalen starring for Peoria tonight. Oviedo hopefully has turned a corner in his career. Very goo second half last year, 1 very good start, and a decent start to begin 2019.
I don’t know if I saw this comment here or somewhere else, but basically this person was skeptical Carlson would remain a switch hitter because he didn’t look as good hitting right-handed in spring training in this person’s eyes. I thought that sounded like a real leap to make considering Carlson has already made it to double A as a switch hitter. Needless to say, hitting a home run off Kershaw while batting right-handed is a good enough reason for me to think Carlson can make it as a switch hitter.
Memphis and Springfield lose with shoddy pitching in the 9th. Cervenka blows the game for Memphis and Merandy Gonzalez blows the game for Springfield. I haven’t been impressed 1 game with Kruzel at Springfield as they fall to 0-6.
Don’t know if it has been mentioned but it was announced yesterday that parking in Springfield at the lot across the street from the stadium has been increased from $10 to $20 effective immediately just in time for opening game of the season. Cards do not own the lot or have any control and negotiations have gone nowhere. This is the lot I have always parked in because I tote and oxygen tank and can’t walk too far and will not pay $20 to park my car at a minor league game. Soooooooooo?

That stinks, Minuteman. Do you come to games with someone? If so, perhaps they can drop you off and rejoin you after they park the car elsewhere. I’ve usually parked free farther away, but can handle a longer walk.
In case you didn’t see it, the team made a statement, but did not offer alternate parking suggestions.
Brian in the article in this mornings news the team suggested Uber or Lyft or CarGo but it seems that would just up the price and entail a wait but I am not familiar with those services. My wife who is 75 years old could drop me off but she also has walking problems for any great distance so we need to look for another answer I guess. The stadium is built on an old quarry and there was quite a bit of room left at one end after the stadium was built and I always assumed it would be made into parking. Instead there is just a small park there. The company that owns the lot with the $20 price also owns the nearby multi-level parking garage – same story there -$20 for game parking. I would love to see a boycott of those lots until the price is brought back to something reasonable. The article says the price went from $5 to $10 last season (I didn’t make a game) but I remember it being $7 for the 2017 games I went to. Think we will go downtown and scout out some possible parking alternatives. Otherwise, maybe we could get one of our young neighbor couples to join us —- and let them drive…….lol.
No doubt that Parsons pitched his heart out for the Chiefs but teammate DPerez was overlooked going 4 for 4 2R RBI. Perez raised his AVR. to .350 from .188. This could be what’s needed to jump-start him to having a break-out season. Any, it was a memorable night for him, I don’t recall a 4-4 in his pro career.
Minuteman, I saw the twitter news as well. Is there a public lot you could park in close to the stadium and use one of the ridesharing programs to pick you up and drop off at the stadium?
Minuteman. Get one of your grandkids, or neighborhood kids to show you how to do Uber or Lyft. It’s a lot easier than you think, and Uber/Lyft will drop you off right in front of the stadium.
I wonder if that was the first four hit game for Perez in his pro career. If so good for him.
I continue to be impressed with Shew. As I mentioned on the member board sometimes it is the blue collar pitchers that end up in the big leagues instead of the blue chippers. Guys like Shew, Fagalde, and Woodford are overachievers that I root for. It wouldn’t surprise me to see one or two out of that group to contribute in St. Louis someday although Shew and Fagalde aren’t getting any younger.
